Chapter Nine: Father's Suggestion

581 Words
Anubis didn’t waste time when it came to seeing his son. Radames was sitting near the fire a complete wreck it had been Katya's birthday yesterday; he knew what that meant. So, he wasn’t at all surprised when his father showed up, a grim expression on his face. “She's gone, again isn't she?” Radames asks looking at the fire. “She got caught in the storm and froze to death...Alone...” Anubis tells him. Radames opened his mouth to say something but found he couldn’t speak. Anubis wasn’t letting him. “I am sick and tired of constantly watching her die these terrible deaths. You and I both know that sacrificing an innocent isn’t the only way to become immortal. You could have given her part of your immortal life and she would still be alive, but no you want to be selfish and get everything you want. This time you will get no hints, no clues, nothing. It's time to prove your f*****g worth and love for her. This time you will let her have her own life. No interference. You will watch from a distance. If you don’t, I will make sure that you never find her and get to be with her. This is your punishment. One of her lives without her. She deserves a chance to try and find love with another for all your lies.” Anubis tells him. Radames was finally allowed to speak, “How is that fair to her? What if she’s looking for me? Can I go to her then?” Anubis glares at him, “No you can’t. I’m not joking when I say no interference. You are to leave her alone no matter what. That is your punishment for letting her die all alone, not once but twice now. You stay away, and that’s if you can even find her this time.” Anubis had nothing more to say, he was done and so he left his son there clearly angry and very upset by this new rule. He vented to Natalia, who was of course heart broke, the sweet little girl she had raised was gone and she would never see her again. Natalia got angry, all Anatoly care about was himself. Natalia had enough and she threw him out. Never had she been so angry at someone. He had let Katya die all alone because he couldn’t tell her the truth and be selfless, now she was gone. Natalia mourned the loss of her child, and as she wept in her room, she suddenly could feel she was not alone. There was a strange woman there. “Don't cry child, it’s not the end for her, nor will this be the last you see of her. She’s going to need you in her new life. So, I’m letting you live as an immortal, a gift I do not give just to anyone. I can’t bear to have her face her next life alone. So, you are going to be raised as her cousin. I’m going to let you be born the same day and time. In time you will remember who you are, but now my dear I’m going to take the pain away.” The Goddess Bastet touches Natalia’s forehead and Nat falls into a deathly sleep. She would live again when Katya lived. And if Bastet had her way Radames would suffer for his foolishness. That would be his only punishment.... For now, ...
