The storm was slowly coming but Katya didn’t pay it any attention she was once again heart broken. Anatoly had lied to her again. Immortality was not what it seemed and it was not worth the price she had to pay for it. She stopped at a hotel and planned on staying there for a while. At least until she could clear her head.
She knew it was almost her birthday, then she'd die again. What kind of life was this, living twenty-one years then dying it was a horrible cycle? Katya realized after a few moments that she wasn’t alone, there was a scratch on her door. She opened it and there shaking off snow was Ankanah.
He had followed her. Katya let him in and was surprised when he ran to a woman that was lounging on the bed. She closed the door and her eyes got wide. She bowed as the woman sat up.
“Come now child, you don’t need to do that.” The Goddess Bastet says smiling. “sit with me, it’s time we had a talk.” She says as she pats the bed.
After Katya sits Bastet continues, “I know this had been hard for you. Dying, living just to die again after a few moments of happiness. It’s not in vain, all of this is leading to a wonderful life for you. But you must be patient. I understand Radames finally told you the truth. Don't do it, fate has other plans for you as do I. If you can endure two more deaths, I promise you, it will be worth it in the end. In your next life, you can choose to be with Radames or spend the time living a different life, with another man to love. I will try to make the next two deaths as painless for you as possible but I can only help so much before my interference Is noticed. Thanks to my arrangement with Anubis you don’t remember all the times you’ve been in the underworld.” Bastet tells her.
Katya sighs, “What if I don’t want to come back? I’m tired it has been so hard for me, all the heartbreak all the memories, I feel it every time as if it just happened the pain is almost unbearable.”
Bastet smiles, “The next time you regain your memories I will make sure it’s only a little at a time. Ankanah gets a bit overzealous and pours them all in not realizing the pain its causing you. Your memories will come next time one life at a time. I know its tiring but as I said I promise it will be worth it. Your last life, you will be born as you should have been the first time. Now child I know it’s early, if you wish I can put you into a deep sleep so you can pass peacefully with no pain and no fear.”
Katya nodded, “That would be a relief compared to my other deaths, I just don't want to be alone.”
Bastet smiles, “I’ll stay here with you as I did the first time dear one.” She kisses Katya's forehead and Katya feels herself fading into a deep sleep. Bastet lets out a sigh, she wouldn’t have to remember this death.
The others were bad enough Bastet used her powers and left Katya out in the terrible storm that had come, a storm that was as bad as the one she had been born in. She waited there three days until she knew it was over and Katya was gone again. Anubis was there waiting.
He took Katya's soul and looked at Bastet, “I’m getting tired of watching her die all these horrible deaths and then letting her leave my realm just so she can die all over again.” Anubis tells her.
“We both are. I want you to have a talk with that son of yours. I’m getting tired of him lying to her. I’d be happy if we didn’t tell him this time where to find her. Let him suffer for a while until she comes back the final time. If he wants her so bad, he can find her without our help.” Bastet says her annoyance and anger were clear to Anubis...
Anubis nods, “I will speak to him soon, but first I have a job to do.”
With that Anubis and Bastet both disappear to their own realms...
