Chapter Three: Mama Natalia

When they arrived at Katya's home, they were both quiet until Katya whispered, “No.”
She jumped out of the car and ran towards her home that was now burned to the ground. Katya started to cry as she fell and knelt in the ashes, she had tripped on the bodies of her brother and sisters, and mother. Her entire family was dead. A neighbor came running over to her, Natalia approached Katya as well.
The neighbor looked at Natalia, “Please get her out of here. It isn't safe they killed all the families that were involved in the riot. Take her with you, change her name if they find her, they'll kill her.”
Natalia nodded and without a word she picked up Katya, put her in the car and went home. Katya's knees were covered in soot, she got out of the car and followed Natalia inside her house. Natalia sat her down.
“Katya look at me,” She said softly.
Katya looked at her and said quietly, “Yes Miss Natalia?”
“Did you hear what the neighbor said, you can never go back there, so you're going to live with me and I'll take care of you. We must change your name at least your last name. Do you understand little one?” She asks. Katya nods so Natalia continues, “Let's see you will be Katya Romanov from now on. I'll get you enrolled in a private school where people won't as ask many questions. If anyone asks, you're my adopted child. Are you going to be okay with all of this Katya?”
Katya gives a single nod, she had just lost everything she had ever known, but know she had a chance at a new life and she was going to take it. The next few days were a crazy time for Katya. Natalia took her shopping and bought her beautiful clothes and shoes. She had her hair done and then after getting the proper documents, she enrolled Katya into a private school for girls.
The teachers although strict found Katya to be a refreshing change from the struck-up girls they usually dealt with. She was intelligent and enjoyed leaning from the teachers. There were a few girls she did like and she was invited to a few parties by a few of the girls.
After several years it was her tenth birthday party and Natalia had a huge party planned. All her friends from school were invited, and the party ended up being asleep over. They played games and had treats. After the celebration when everyone left Katya overheard Natalia on the phone. Someone was going to be visiting them.
“Momma Nat everyone is gone.” Katya tells her.
Natalia smiles, “Good in a few days we are going to have a special visit from a special guest. He is like a son to me. His name is Anatoly Ranova. As much as I like to say I adopted him, he actually adopted me.”
Katya was excited she had almost forgotten what having a brother was like.
“So, he’s like a big brother then?” She asks happily.
Natalia laughs, “I guess you could say that little one. I think you two, well you three will get along fine. You see he has a younger brother that sometimes comes with him when he visits.”
Katya was happy she had two brothers now, and she hoped that they liked her...
Radames now going by Anatoly was curious to see the new orphan that Natalia had taken in. When he heard her story, he understood why Natalia adopted her. But there was just a weird feeling he was getting. For the past few years, he had felt a strong pull towards going to Russia. He knew that’s where his Bastet had been born, but he wasn’t sure when she had been born.
The Gods and Goddesses were making it harder on him to find her. Anatoly got his bags packed; he might stay there for a while. Anatoly called out to his brother in law Giovanni.
“Hey Gio, I’m going to see mama Nat are you coming with me?”
Gio came out of his room, he had gotten big these past years. Anatoly had kept him alive and on his twenty first birthday he helped him become immortal. It was the greatest gift he could give to Bastet. Gio was excited at the idea of going back to Russia. So, he packed his bags and after a long flight Anatoly and Gio arrived in Russia.
They got to Natalia's while Katya was still at school, they had brought her gifts to welcome her into the family. Now they sat and talked with Natalia and waited for Katya to return home...
