Victor suddenly stood up and rushed upstairs. Claire and Lily exchanged worried looks before following him. At the door to the second-floor bedroom, Anna sat on the floor clutching a stuffed white rabbit, crying loudly. Shards of a broken glass jar lay scattered around her, with candies spilling across the floor. Through her sobs, Anna wailed, "Daddy!" She threw herself into Victor's arms, her tiny body trembling. "I didn't mean to, Lily! I just wanted to grab some candy to apologize to Claire. I didn't mean to break it! Please don't leave me! Don't abandon me!" Her tears fell like raindrops, glistening on her flushed cheeks. Victor's heart ached as he held her tightly. "It's okay, Anna. I'm here, and no one is mad at you. I promise." He gently carried her into the room.
