Chapter 5

760 Words
Steele Crescent’s pov: We were walking towards the Blood Moon Pack when I felt it, a change. I felt as if I was needed as if someone needed me. It was Estelle, she has started her heat, and I am not even there for it! She is my mate, and I am not even there for her first heat with me. Why did they have to kidnap her, they just had to separate us. “Have you tried mind linking with her?” One of the warriors with the group questioned. Have I tried mind linking with her? Have I tried mind linking! Of course, I tried mind . . . “Actually, no I haven't. That is a good idea. Thank you.” They nodded and smiled back at me, I have thought about doing that, I probably should’ve. But, I don’t think she is officially part of the pack yet, however, she is my mate, so I have to at least try. Estelle? Estelle? - I could tell she was there, but I couldn’t quite grasp her. Whatever, it was worth the try. Suddenly there was a ruffle in the bushes around us, surrounding us. “We’ve been caught!” I yelled, visibly frightened, my eyes were very wide. Werewolves in their wolf form attacked us from all sides, we were outnumbered. I was freaking out. “We should run,” I suggested, thinking that this was the best option. I could tell that some of the group didn’t like the suggestion. We fled the scene, the wolves followed us but stopped once we got to our territory. I went to the packhouse, outraged, and went to my room upstairs. I got a beer bottle out of my mini-fridge, feeling sorry for myself. Someone knocked on the door and entered. “Beta, it’s too dangerous to go to their pack again, any time soon.” It was Alaska. “Don’t you think I know that! She is my mate, and I can’t help her.” I abruptly stood up, transparently angry. “Sorry.” . . . “No, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have taken my anger out on you. It’s just that, I feel helpless, and I want to help, but I don’t know how.” I sat back down and cupped my face with my hands, and Alaska left. Estelle Juniper’s pov: “So how was your night?” Alpine walked in, waking me up. “Better than when I was in prison.” I yawned, my eyes still a little hazy. “I would hope so.” She chuckled and placed a pile of clothes at the end of my bed. “Here are some clothes, you should get dressed and come downstairs, for breakfast. “But, what about your mate? Won’t he kick me out, and send me back to prison?” “Actually, I persuaded him, when I told him that I was pregnant last night.” She told me, with a toothy grin. “Oh, how did that go?” “Well, Flint took it extremely well, he was very excited.” “That’s good!” She nodded and left my room. I got dressed and went downstairs to eat breakfast. I immediately smelled sausage and bacon and eggs, when I got down to the last step. I walked through the long hallway, which is covered in paintings and sculptures. The hallway led to the dining room, which housed a very long dining table. This table seated at least 16. Alpine and Flint were sitting on opposite ends of the table. “Oh, Estelle, come, come!” Alpine waved me over to her, smiling. I sat down next to her. I glanced down to Flint and saw that he was glaring at me. I looked back at Alpine, and she had an artificial grin on her face, she wordlessly mouthed, ‘be nice’. The chefs came out and served bacon, eggs, sausage, pancakes, and orange juice. We all began to chow down. Then, there suddenly was a change in the atmosphere. One of the Blood Moon pack’s warriors entered the room and whispered something in Flint’s ear. “Get Estelle back to her room!” Flint stood up and yelled. “What is it, honey?” “There has been an attempted break-in.”
