Chapter 1

Estelle Juniper’s point of view: A sharp pain shot through my foot, "Dammit, I really need to look before I step." I looked down and saw a gnarly-looking thorn sticking out from the bottom of my foot. I quickly but carefully took the thorn out. I have been running for hours, looking for something to eat. The four surrounding packs; Cresent Moon, Blood Moon, Grey Moon, and Blue Moon Packs, have been heavily hunting around my grounds. I am in the middle of them, and they aren't supposed to get this far out of their pack grounds. But, it makes sense now, because it is winter, a very harsh winter, and their food is probably scarce. I finally hunted and ate a rabbit. It was easier to find in my wolf form, in wolf form, I am a slender, auburn brown wolf with heterochromia eyes, one brown one blue. I have never met my parents, I haven't even seen another wolf before. I abandoned in these woods, the only reason I survived was that a bear found me and raised me as her own. But now I am independent, and I am taking care of myself now. I heard a loud rumble on the other side of the forest. I switched back into my wolf form since I would move faster. I didn’t think about the fact that my clothes would get ruined, but they did. I ran to the east side of the forest, when I go there I had to quickly hide behind a tree and mask my wolf scent. There were a baker’s dozen other wolves, and like I said I have never seen any other wolf before, so I was a little nervous. They were all in human form, and couldn’t see what they were doing. I changed into my human form to get better access. “We need to find that rogue.” I am pretty sure they are talking about me, and if they are then that is not good. “Are you sure they’re even is a rogue? Do you have a reliable source?” One of the other wolves questioned. “Yes, and I do have a reliable source.” The seeming leader of the group sounded irritated, but still reassuring. I don’t know why but I feel a connection towards him, he also smells extremely well. “Also, don’t question my authority, I am your beta” When he said this I could tell he felt bad for being so stern. He doesn’t seem like a bad guy though. Just a little rough around the edges. I stepped back and a quiet, but not so quiet to wolves, snap sound, stepped on a twig. Before I could blink I was being hoarded off to their pack grounds. The warriors gave me clothes and locked me into a cell. The alpha to this walked into the room where I was being kept. “So, you are the rogue?” The beta, his son, looks very similar to the alpha, just a younger version. “Yes, I am” I answered, this was overwhelming me quite severely. This is the first time I have ever seen a wolf, so being confronted by an alpha is kinda terrifying. Then I noticed the man that I saw before and his aroma just filled the room. “We have a couple of questions for you” The son was more gentle towards me than his own warriors. I guess I am just as compelling to him as he is to me. I guess I could answer a couple of questions for him. “How long have you been out there?” The alpha interrogated. “My whole life” They both seemed shocked. “I actually have never even seen another wolf, well . . . until now.” Now they were doubly shocked, well the beta looked more concerned than shocked. “Oh that must have been awful.” His eyebrows frowned, I think he actually is concerned. I was think maybe it was a tactic, but I am starting to think that he is genuine. God, his smell is intoxicating. They left the room after asking me a couple more questions. The father seemed angry by his son’s behavior. Steele Cresent’s point of view: My father was very mad after the interrogation, “I’m sorry! I just can’t help it, she is just so captivating, and her smell is on another . . .” I was interepted by my father explaining that she might be my mate. I didn’t think it was possible since she was just a rogue. I am going to be alpha soon, I can’t have a rogue as a mate. "Well maybe you should consider that she is" My father is really trying to sell me on the idea of her being my mate. But, I have to say that it is very possible that she could be my mate, her scent is a red flag, to say the least. I am even warming to the idea of her being my mate. She probably is my mate. “We didn’t even ask what her name was!”
