Daniel POV “Jaessa, can we talk?” I interject as the gathering in my office breaks down for everyone to disperse their separate ways. We’ve been discussing plans for hours on how to best rescue Haley’s infant. Jaessa looks across the room to me, fatigue and weary etched upon her features, and a pang of guilt strikes my heart for even asking. “Yeah, Daniel, just give me a minute.” Jaessa responds shortly, and more pain rips through me at the disconnect which has formed between us. It is then that Westley steps forward, engulfing her tiny frame into his broad arms, while whispering into her ear something inaudible from across the room, and I witness the change in her expression from strain to comfort - that is when the pain suddenly doubles me over. I grip the desk with my hands
