“I think something is coming,” I said. My legs were now weak from running, but with a sword in my hands, I was better than the Lycans. Every breath scraped against my lungs. I leaned against the trunk of a fallen tree, forcing myself to breathe quietly. The forest had become eerily silent. No birds. No insects. Only the sound of our heartbeats.
