The distant wail of syndicate sirens slowly dissolved into the steady patter of rainfall against the warehouse iron roof. The air inside the loft grew cold, but the heat radiating from Roxy and Ronin’s intertwined bodies remained fierce. Ronin reached down, retrieved his heavy tactical trench coat from a wooden crate, and wrapped it securely around Roxy’s bare, trembling shoulders. The scent of gunpowder, cedarwood, and rain enveloped her like armor. — We can’t stay here — Ronin stated quietly, his tactical instincts taking control once more. He adjusted his holstered pistol, checked the perimeter through the broken skylight, and offered her his gloved hand. — Salvatore’s death leaves a vacuum. Every lieutenant with a private militia will be tearing this district apart by dawn, looking for anyone connected to his final hour. Roxy pulled the heavy coat tightly around her torso, feeling the cool fabric brush against her sensitive skin. Her legs were still slightly weak from the overwhelming intensity of what they had just shared against the brick wall, but the sharp thrill of survival kept her moving. — Marco saw me on the thirty-fifth floor — Roxy whispered, stepping carefully over scattered glass and debris. — He knows I didn't die with Salvatore. He will check my apartment before sunrise. — Your apartment doesn't exist anymore, and neither does the dancer named Roxy — Ronin said, leading her down an iron spiral staircase into the damp subterranean tunnels beneath the warehouse. — From this moment on, you only exist where I keep you. They navigated a labyrinth of forgotten maintenance corridors, moving beneath the pulsating veins of the neon metropolis. After twenty minutes of silent transit, Ronin stopped before a nondescript steel vault door embedded in the bedrock. He placed his palm against an encrypted biometric plate. The heavy hydraulic deadbolts disengaged with a pressurized hiss, granting them access into a fortified sanctuary. The safehouse was a sleek, subterranean compound furnished in dark matte steel, brushed slate, and dim amber ambient lighting. Multiple tactical monitors covered one wall, streaming live feeds of the syndicate’s panicked movements across the city. Across the open-concept room stood a king-sized platform bed draped in black silk, alongside an open marble bath steaming with hot water. Roxy stepped inside, listening to the heavy vault door seal shut behind them. The sheer safety of the enclosure hit her all at once, washing away five years of constant dread. She walked toward the edge of the large marble tub, letting Ronin’s oversized coat slide off her shoulders and pool onto the floor. Ronin locked the console and turned to face her. His gaze darkened as his eyes traced the curve of her bare spine, the bruised flush on her thighs, and the radiant magenta locks clinging to her damp skin. He unbuttoned his shirt, discarding the tactical harness, revealing a torso etched with corded muscle, combat scars, and intricate black syndicate ink. — You performed exceptionally tonight, Roxanne — he murmured, crossing the room with silent, predatory strides until he stood directly behind her at the edge of the bath. — But you're shivering. — It isn't from the cold — she admitted softly, turning in his embrace. Her fingers reached up, lightly tracing the jagged lines of the bleached skull tattoo carved along his jawline. — I lived in terror of Salvatore for half a decade. Now that he’s gone, all this adrenaline has nowhere to go. — Let me give it a purpose — Ronin growled, lifting her effortlessly into the warm, scented water of the marble tub before stepping in behind her. The contrast of the steaming water against their heated skin sent a shiver of pure electricity through Roxy's spine. Ronin pulled her back against his broad chest, his powerful arms wrapping around her waist. His hands were rough against her silk-soft skin, gliding over her stomach and up to cup her full breasts, massaging them with possessive, deliberate firmness. Roxy leaned her head back against his shoulder, letting out a breathy whimper as his lips found the sensitive curve where her neck met her shoulder. — Look at what you do to me, little bird — Ronin whispered huskily, taking her hand beneath the swirling water and pressing her fingers against the rigid, throbbing length resting between his thighs. — Even after taking you against that wall, I’m starving for you. Roxy turned in the water, straddling his lap and locking her eyes onto his dark, burning gaze. The water lapped against their chests as she slid her hands through his dark, wet hair, pulling his face down to hers. When their lips crashed together, the kiss was deeper, hungrier, and filled with a raw intimacy that went beyond survival. She rolled her hips slowly against him, friction creating sparks in the warm water. Ronin groaned into her mouth, his large hands gripping her hips and lifting her slightly before seating her directly onto his tip. Roxy gasped as the blunt head stretched her, his thick shaft sliding smoothly into her aching, dripping core in one agonizingly slow, complete descent. — Ah... Ronin... — she cried out, her nails biting into his tattooed shoulders as the immense fullness took her breath away. — You fit me like you were made for this — Ronin snarled, holding her firmly by the hips as he began thrusting upward from the bottom of the tub. The water sloshed violently over the marble rim, splashing onto the slate tiles in rhythm with their collision. Roxy matched his relentless pace, riding him with desperate passion, throwing her head back as every deep stroke sent jolts of pure fire through her lower abdomen. Ronin’s mouth trailed down to her dripping chest, taking one hardened n****e into his mouth, suckling and biting lightly until Roxy’s cries echoed through the concrete chamber. The friction inside her was searing and endless. Ronin increased the speed, lifting her up and slamming her down against him with bruising authority. Roxy felt the familiar, unbearable tension coiling tighter and tighter until her entire vision dissolved into flashes of brilliant gold and violet. She contracted violently around him, pulsing in a deep, body-trembling climax that drew an ecstatic scream from her throat. Ronin buried his face into the hollow of her neck, roaring as he emptied his release deep inside her for the second time, his powerful thighs shuddering beneath the water. They rested in the warm bath for a long time, the sound of their ragged breathing gradually harmonizing with the distant hum of the security console. But just as Roxy closed her eyes against his chest, a shrill, high-priority alert flashed across the monitors in crimson letters: SYNDICATE HIT SQUAD DISPATCHED - TARGET: UNIDENTIFIED VANCE HEIR. Ronin’s eyes snapped open, his lethal calm instantly returning. The war had only just begun.
