Jason woke up the next morning a little before eight. His immediate thoughts were of Billie. How absolutely wonderful he had felt with her, a feeling he had not known since Katy Lynn. But then he realized once again this was a relationship that wasn’t meant to be. He renewed his vow that he would not let himself become committed to anything other than a casual affair.
Jason phoned the Piedmont counter at the National Airport, and found out that there was a 10:15 flight leaving that would be in Roanoke by 11:00. They did have a few available seats at this time, and his military standby tickets would only be $18 each way. He hated to phone his mother so early, so he first went to breakfast.
