Alanna walked into her office and found Jackie waiting for her. Jackie looked upset. Alanna closed the door behind her as she entered. Alanna greets her and makes her way to her desk. Before Alanna could finish sitting, Jackie blurted out, “Are you sleeping with my dad?” Alanna plunged into her chair and swallowed abruptly. “Yes, I am seeing your father.”, Alanna answered in a gentle voice. Jackie adds, “No disrespect, but I don’t want you to keep seeing him.” Alanna sucks her lips inside her mouth, keeping her thoughts to herself. Jackie continued, “My dad is a good guy. I don’t want him to get hurt.” “Alanna interrupted, “I will never hurt your father.” Jackie brushed off Alanna’s comment and stood up, placing both hands on the desk. “Please stop seeing him,” she demanded and walked away.

Alanna called Jack and informed him about the incident. After a few hours, there was a knock-on on Alanna’s office emergency back exit. Alanna opened the door and found Jack holding flowers in his hand. He had a big silly smile. “Will you continue seeing me?” Jack said, kissing Alanna after every word. Alanna laughed. “I can’t stop seeing you”, she replied, smiling. Jack became serious and stared at Alanna’s face. Alanna took the flowers from him and carefully placed them on the desk. She wrapped her arms around his neck and whispered in his ear, “I can’t stop seeing you, because I’m in love with you.” Jack grinned and lifted her by her waist. They embrace in a long romantic kiss. Jack received a call on his radio. He needed to leave but he could not let go. With incredible difficulty, he found the strength to let Alanna go. On his way out he called out, “Don’t worry about Jackie, I’ll talk to her.”

After work, Jack went home, and Jackie was waiting for him at the dining room table. Jackie was upset. She looked like she was about to cry when Jack hugged her. Jack asked her if she was okay. Jackie sighed, “How can I be okay knowing that you are sleeping with the maneater?” Jack hated hearing people call Alanna the maneater, so he punched the table and screamed at Jackie, “Don’t you ever call her that again.” Jackie responded in the same tone, “You better never bring that woman here.” Jackie stormed away.

Jack didn't let Jackie's reaction to his relationship with Alanna change anything. Jack continued going to Alanna's house every morning. They worked out, showered together, ate breakfast, and made love. Every day they acted as if it was the first day. They saw each other. Jack burned with desire for her and Alanna could not keep her hands off him. They made love in every room of Alanna's house. Many times, they interrupted the workout because they couldn’t keep their hands away from each other.

One day, Alanna received Jack in her nightgown. She looked pale and had little energy. She explained to him that she was not feeling well. She was throwing up and felt lightheaded. She thought she might have the stomach flu. Jack took her back to bed and asked her to stay there. He was going to prepare her breakfast in bed. Alanna loved the idea. She made herself comfortable waiting for her prince charming to make her breakfast.

Suddenly, Alanna began to suffer extreme pain in her abdomen. She let out a scream, “Jack! Something is wrong!” Jack heard Alanna scream. He dropped the eggs on the floor and ran up the stairs to check on her. Alanna was on the floor. She tried to stand but dropped down to the floor. There was blood all over the bed. A trail of blood leads to the floor where Alanna is sitting in a pool of blood holding her abdomen tightly. Complaining of pain.

Jack was scared and agitated. He couldn’t think clearly. He called 911. He picks her up, puts her on the bed, and checks her while they wait for the ambulance. Alanna was massively bleeding. Blood ran down her legs and she started losing consciousness. Jack couldn’t wait anymore. He wraps Alanna with a blanket and puts her in his car. He rushed to the hospital. At the hospital, they take her in and ask Jack about his relationship with her. He explained that they were dating, so they asked him to wait in the waiting room and contact her family. Alanna was rushed to surgery. Jack tried to get information, but the nurses refused to give information to a non-relative. Jack calls the funeral home and asks Carol to contact Alanna's kids. Jack pasted around the waiting room waiting for information. He stood in a corner for a minute rubbing his chin. Then he moved to rubbing his hair and pulling it. After a few hours with no news finally, a young lady ran in asking for Alanna.

“I’m looking for my mom, Alanna”, she screams nervously. Jack rushed to the young lady, but the nurse beat him. The nurse asked Jack to step away while she talked to the young lady. Jack tried to ears drop, but all he could hear was that Alanna was still in surgery. Jack felt helpless. He plunges into a chair feeling defeated. He puts his head down and interlocks his fingers behind his neck.

The young lady approaches Jack and asks, “Are you, Jack?” Jack lifts his head in surprise and nods rapidly. The young lady sits next to him and begins a monologue.

Hi, I’m Paulina Alanna’s younger daughter. I knew it was you because of what my mom had told me about you. She described you well. I recognized you immediately. I imagine that is my mom's blood on you? I’m so happy that you were there when it happened. Well, it is your fault after all.

Paulina giggle. Jack, horrified about what he heard, tried to ask something, but Paulina continued her monologue.

The nurse said that my mom is going to be fine. She lost a lot of blood, but she is fine...... My sister is freaking out because she can’t come. Bruno, my older brother, can’t just leave medical school and Tony is just a loser that doesn’t even have money to see his mother when she needs him. I am just so grateful and happy that you were there. You know my mom is always taking care of everybody. It was about time someone took care of her. I'm happy that she is dating you. I have been telling her that it was time for her to get back on the horse for years, but she always found something wrong with every guy she met. I can’t believe she waited so long to be with a man. I made her get the reconstruction hoping it would make her feel more confident or whatever, but it took her five years to get with you. I thought my mom and dad were crazy, but I guess they are not. You know my parents were the biggest slots on the planet until they found each other. They had an incredible relationship. Thanks to them, I will never be happy. I date and date, but never find anyone that fits my standards. They were so remarkable that my dad, on his death bed, made my mom promise that she would find love again and be happy. My mom said that finding love again was impossible, but I always knew she was secretly searching for it. She found you and the way you guys met is incredible. That was something that only I could do. I was surprised when my mom told me what she had done. I have been hoping to at least find love once, and my old lady has already found it twice. I’m sorry. I talk a lot when I’m nervous. If my mom knows I have been running my mouth she kills me. They say she lost a lot of blood but thanks to you bringing her in so fast, she will be alright.

Paulina grabbed Jack’s hand and told him, “Thank you”

She then became quiet and tears ran down her chicks. She sniffs and rubs her nose with the back of her hand. Jack wrapped his arm around her and said, “I’m scared too.” Paulina looked at him and smiled.

Alanna woke up from her surgery. She was surrounded by nurses. A nurse was taking her vitals when she opened her eyes. The nurse saw Alanna awake and called the doctor. The doctor approached Alanna. The doctor was a pretty young lady with shiny long black hair up in a ponytail. She reminded Alanna of her late husband's sister. The doctor leaned close to Alanna. She smiled and said, “welcome back Miss Alanna. How are you feeling?” Alanna smiled, “Drowsy and my back hurts.” The doctor then explained to Alanna that she had to undergo emergency surgery to remove the embryo that latched himself on her fallopian tube. Alanna was shocked. She couldn’t begin to comprehend what the doctor was talking about. She had her tubes tied when she was young after having four children in a roll. The doctor explained that she had an ectopic pregnancy. Due to Alanna having her tubes tied very young, her tubes grew back and she was able to get pregnant, but the embryo attached to the fallopian tube. Once the embryo began to develop, it stretched the tube until it ruptured. The bleeding was stopped on time thanks to Alanna arriving at the hospital fast. Then the doctor explained to Alanna that she had to stay in the hospital for observation for a few days and then she could go home and continue her recovery for six more weeks. The doctor explained that the fallopian tube was removed, and she lost a lot of blood, so several transfusions were needed. Alanna was still a little drowsy from the anesthesia.

The doctor came out of the waiting room, calling for Alanna’s family. Jack and Paulina jumped up. Paulina grabbed Jack’s hand and called out, “ We are here.” Jack looked at Paulina and smiled. He said thank you without making any sound. Paulina nodded. The doctor approached them and informed them that the surgery was a success. They were able to repair the damage, but they couldn’t save the fallopian tube. She received a few blood transfusions, but everything went well so they could go see her now. Then the nurse held a hand up in front of Jack and told Paulina that only the family could go see her. Paulina told the nurse, “He is family.” The nurse had no option than to let Jack in.

Paulina opens a heavy beige door. Jack follows her inside the cold room. They smell, bleach, and alcohol. There is a big blue curtain hanging from the ceiling blocking their view. As they move closer, the sound of oxygen and the beeps of the vital signs monitor become louder. Jack’s hands became sweaty. He wants to run and rip the curtain off, but Paulina sticks her head gently and whispers, “ Hi mommy. I have someone here for you.” Paulina pushed open the curtain slowly to reveal Jack. Alanna smiles and stretches her arms. One hand reaching for each of them. Paulina runs to the side of her mom's bed with tears, “Mommy!” Alanna hugs her daughter and her eyes tear up. Jack watches from the end of the bed awkwardly. Paulina lets go of Alanna. She looks at her mom lovingly and cleans up her tears. Then she stands up, moves back and makes a gesture to Jack, “She is all your Sir.”

Jack approached Alanna slowly as if his steps could hurt her. Once he was close enough, Alanna grabbed his hand and pulled him closer. They stared at each other and tears came out of their eyes. Paulina interrupted, “I’m going to give you guys some privacy.” Paulina closed the curtain and left the room. Jack scanned Alanna’s body. He was overwhelmed. She had a bandage on her abdomen. He caressed her face. Then he ran his fingers gently over her dry lips and kissed them. “How are you feeling”, he asked with a broken voice?” Alanna brought his hand to her chest and held it tight. Jack cleaned his tears off and held the bed for support with his other hand. Then he leans over her and whispers to her, “I’m so happy you are okay.” Alanna moved her hands to her bandages on her abdomen. She looked at Jack and asked him, “You know what happened?” Jack responded, “something about your fallopian tube rupturing.” Alanna placed his hand on her abdomen and explained to him what happened. Jack was stunned. He didn’t even think that there was a possibility of them having a baby because. He knew Alanna had her tubes tied. Alanna’s got teary eyes. She didn’t expect or plan to have a baby, but thinking of how close she came to having one with Jack and losing it was difficult for her.

Jack felt heartbroken knowing how close he got to having a baby with the woman he loved. Jack lowered his head to her abdomen and kissed her on top of the bandages. His tears dropped on her. He didn’t understand how an unimaginable pregnancy could affect him so much. Somehow, in that little time, he had imagined everything they would miss out on. Thinking about it, he would have loved having a baby with Alanna. Alanna grabbed his chin and lifted his head to her lips. She kissed his eyes and lips. Alanna looked at his eyes and told him, “It would have been wonderful but sadly it wasn’t meant to be.” Jack kissed her. He forgot about all the machines she had connected and grabbed her in his arms. A machine started beeping and Alanna moans in pain. Jack let her go, slowly apologizing. Alanna smiled. The heart monitor detached from her chest. Alanna found it and stuck it back where it was before. Then she presses a bottom that supplied her with pain killer medication. Jack moved away from the bed, scared of touching anything. Alanna reached out her hand and Jack grabbed it. She took him back next to her bed and kissed his hand. Jack smiled and kissed her forehead. Then he said, “I love you.”

Paulina walked back into the room talking on the phone. She was face-timing her older sister Clara. “Sorry mommy but Clara insisted”, Paulina complained, giving Alanna her phone. Clara reprimanded Alanna like a little girl. She questions why she was having unprotected s*x, and how could she be sleeping around at her age. Alanna laughed and interrupted, “How is my grandbaby?” Jack blushed and moved away from the bed. Clara proceeded, “Is that a midlife crisis? We don’t even know this guy that you have been sleeping with.” Alanna gestured to Jack to come to her. Jack stood next to Alanna. Alanna smiled, pointed the phone at Jack and said, “Here you go. Clara meets Jack.” Clara called, “mom there are proper ways of doing things.” Alanna blew her a kiss and asked her to calm down. She gave the phone to Paulina and asked her to deal with her grumpy sister.

A few days later, Alanna was sent home but put on absolute rest for weeks. Jack took time off from work to take care of her. Paulina stayed until Alanna was settled, and then left but strictly ordered Jack to continue taking good care of her mom. Jack enjoyed meeting Paulina. She is outspoken, fearless and so independent. She is two years younger than Jackie and is already living her dream, doing what she likes. Jack feels like a failure for babying Jackie so much that she is still living in his house and interfering with his love life.

At first, Alanna didn’t let Jack touch her. He could only help her get around and sleep next to her, but she didn’t let him touch her belly. One day Jack found her crying. He held her in his arms. He understood what she was going through because he was feeling sad too. They almost had a baby but lost it without even knowing of its existence. That night they spent embracing, talking about the baby. They talked about names they would have given the baby, things they would have done.

While Alanna recovers, Jack helps take care of things in the funeral home. He struggled to keep her resting. Alanna couldn't stop working. She had Jack deliver food for Homeless Bob and the medication for her elderly friends. She kept all her meetings through calls. Little by little Alanna started to feel herself again. She started being affectionate with Jack again.

One day, Jack was making lunch in his underwear and Clara, Alanna's oldest daughter, walked in the door. She screamed when she saw a tall, almost naked man in her mom's kitchen. Alanna called out, "Jack, what happened?" She started making her way down the stairs. Alanna found Jack crouching down on the kitchen counter and her daughter covering her face with her mouth open in front of the door. Alanna laughed.

"Clara, what are you doing here?" Alanna exclaimed, picking up a blanket from the sofa and handing it to Jack. Jack covered himself with the blanket and Alanna walked to her daughter. Alanna hugs Clara. Jack walked around them wrapped in the blanket. He waved hi to Clara and went up the stairs. Alanna asked Clara to sit. Clara was still in shock. Alanna smiled and said, " Come on, it is not the first time you have seen an almost naked man, and you can't complain he is eye candy" Clara responded, "Mom! you are impossible but he is eye candy." They laughed. Clara then looked at her mom wearing a tight black nightgown and said, "I was going to ask you how you are feeling but from what I see you are fine." Alanna smiled and replied, "I'm a lot better, Jack has been here taking good care of me."

Jack walked down the stairs and approached Clara with his hand stretched out. Clara shook his hand, giving him the stink eye. Jack walked to Alanna and put a sweater on her. Alanna smiled at him, grabbed his hand and pulled him to sit next to her. Clara looked at them and asked Alanna, "So this is real?" Alanna lay her hand on Jack's leg and told her daughter that she was in love with Jack and they were in a serious relationship. Clara's face change. She didn't approve of their relationship, but she could see that Jack cared about her mom. Clara tells her mom that she was there to stay a few days with her.

Alanna screamed yes, jumped up, and hugged Clara. Alanna then turned to Jack and told him, "My love, you can take a break now because this one is stricter than yours." Jack hadn't left her side since the surgery. Alanna kept trying to get him to go and take care of his house and see his daughter, but all he did was take care of her. Alanna asked him to go. She explained that she was going to be okay. Her daughter was there to help her. Jack reluctantly agrees. They have lunch together and then Jack gets ready to leave.

Alanna went to the guess room to unpack her stuff. Alanna was left alone with Jack, who refused to go. He didn't want to leave Alanna's side. Alanna wrapped her hands around him, looked into his eyes and asked him to go get some air and come back at night because she didn't want to sleep without him either. Jack kissed Alanna and one thing led to another. They were on the sofa, Jack without a shirt, sitting on the sofa with Alanna sitting on him, facing him. Jack held on to Alanna's thighs, pushing her against him. They were passionately kissing and breathing heavily when Clara walked into the living room. She walked away quietly trying to avoid getting their attention, but the room door made noise. Jack and Alanna were startled. Alanna climbed off. Jack stood up and put his shirt back on. Then they said bye and Jack left.

Alanna went to Clara's room and asked her if she could come in. Clara opens the door with a face. Alanna caressed her face and asked her not to be like that. Clara then asked, " Do you really love that guy?" Alanna took a deep breath and told Clara, "As much as I loved your dad." Clara was puzzled. She didn't think that was possible. Alanna then told her that it was a different relationship. With Franco, they were wild and enjoyed doing crazy things together. He was a free spirit, but Jack was different. She explained that Jack is a jealous kind of guy, but he makes her feel protected, loved and, most importantly, he makes her feel like she is the only woman in the world.

Jack was back as soon as it was dark. He walked into the house and found Alanna and her daughter watching television. Clara was startled when he opened the door. She then asked, "He has a key too." Alanna replied, "All my loved ones have keys to my house." Alanna rushed to Jack. She hugged him and whispered into his ear, "I missed you." Jack grabbed her and took her upstairs. He said good night to Clara as he walked up the stairs, and Alanna blew her kiss. Clara watched them kissing while walking up the stairs and quietly said, "that can't be safe."

In the room, Alanna and Jack tried to keep the noise down but they couldn't hold back anymore. Alanna wasn't allowed to have s*x yet, but they craved each other. Alanna took his shirt off and kissed his chest. Jack picked her up and took her to bed. He laid her down and took her close off. He kissed her breath and rubbed his hand between her legs.
