Leaving Ray staring for a moment. “Is there some reason why you hate her? She’s innocent. It’s her mother’s fault, not hers” Ray advised. Jace turned a sharp murderous glare at him. “She’s just as guilty as her mother. They both ruined my life” he spat in fury. He raised the car speed and Ray grabbed on for support, afraid he might fly off the closed window. But he did not stop. “She’s just eighteen. I’m sure her life was ruined too. You’ve got to stop hating, not while you still like her” he blurt out the truth and Jace brought the car to a sudden halt, sending them both jerking up a bit. Ray let out a grunt as he pulled forward and managed to get pulled back by the seatbelt. He turned to Jace whose face suddenly turned red. He flashed a dumbstruck countenance at Ray. “How on earth did you...?” he asked. “You had her picture drawn and kept in your safe box” Ray answered. Jace swallowed a bit, his defiant look wore down. He thought he had kept that a good secret for two years now. He gripped a little too tight on the wheel as he let the words out. “I don’t like her” he stated. But Ray furrowed, “So why’d you drew her? You only do that when you fall in love…” Jace ‘s tightened, he took a sharp inhale, like he was forbidden himself from admitting it. “The picture meant nothing” he said, turning away. Ray snot beside him, still believing it. He has been friends with him for years and know when he’s hiding. … Katrina woke up with a stir, her eyes scanned the spacious room. She had fallen asleep last night after she arrived back. She thought she wouldn’t be able to fall asleep, because of the guilt in her heart but she had fallen sound asleep all night. Her ringtone blasted through the silent air and she quickly reached for her bag that she had dumped at the bottom of the bed to pick it up. A panicked urgency invaded her countenance as she received the call from Prince college about her admission. She quickly rushed into the bathroom after ending the call and in fifteen minutes, she hurry out of the room, dressing in a simple shirt and trouser. She ran down the hundred stairs, feeling out of breathe by the time she got to the last and paused to take a breathe. “Why are you not using the elevator?” Jace rang into her ears and Katrina flinched a bit as she turned to the direction f the sound. Jace was standing a distance to her left side, holding an apple in his hand, he was dressed in his usual, shirt and trouser. His hair that was usually packed up fell to his face, looking drippy. Katrina inhaled fast. “What are you doing here?” she asked, surprised to see him. From what she knows, he moved out of the house two years ago. “You forgot? I am your guardian now. Because of you, I am forced to return here.” he answered, his eyes filled with so much bitterness and hate as he stared at her. Katrina felt her throat tightened, but this time she was about to move, away from him. “I don’t need a guardian. I’m eighteen” she told him, moving to leave. “No, you’re not. You are seventeen” he stated. A slight line appeared on Katrina ’s face. She shook her head to deny but Jace moved to the table and held out a piece of document, containing her date of birth. When she saw it, she rushed to grab it from him but he stop her with a hand stretched out firmly. “You have no right to have that” she fought. Jace gave a hard chuckle, amused to see her so sensitive about her age. He thrust the paper inside his pocket, taunting her. “If you dare” he told her. Katrina bit her lips. She was running late for her college registration. She will just have to find a way to steal that. When Jace saw that she wasn’t going to fight for it, he backed away and proceed to bit into the apple in his hands, turning away. Katrina stared for a second, watching as his throat bobbed and hers did the same. She shook her head, throwing the thought out before it even struck her mind and walked out. … When Katrina got to Prince College, she headed straight to have her registration done. When she got to the part where she was asked whether she wanted to stay in the hostels, she paused for a moment before finally saying no. She had dreamed of living on campus, going out to study with friends, going to have fun after exams, but all that seemed to be just a fantasy now. When she was done, she was given her student identity card and class schedule for classes. As Katrina walked out of the building, eyes focused on the piece of paper, a car suddenly approached, driving at rather a high speed. In an instant, she looked up and widened in horror, shutting her eyes, as she thought the car was going to hit her, someone pulled her and she fell hard on him. Katrina ’s eyes remained shut for a moment, her chest pondered as she trembles, her hands gripped onto her saviour. Jace swallowed his groan, taking a silent gasp as he breathed down. For a moment there, he panicked again. Thankfully, he had seen the car coming from a distance and rushed quickly to drag her out of there. His hands were around her head, but did not touch it as he had tried protecting her from hurting as they hit the ground. He could feel blood from his elbow which had grazed the ground in the attempt to save her. When she didn’t move for a minute, Jace was worried that she was hurt so he slowly close the space between his palms and her head. “Are you trying to die so I would lose my inheritance?” he asked, his voice a bit hoarse. Katrina paused for a second and opened her eyes, they caught Jace’s instantly and her lips fell open. Her countenance twisted in daze. “…?” she could not fathom a word out. Jace stared back, his gaze sharp. “This is the second time in barely a day that we started living together that I saved you” he stated. Katrina blinked, she remembered last night, when he promised to make her life miserable. He stared down at her hands which was still gripping on to his clothes. “Aren’t you going to let go?” he asked The realization hit her instantly and she hurry to let go, moving to get up but her legs weaken for a second there. She fell back on him, their faces almost knocked against each other, leaving their lips a inch away from slamming against each other. Katrina's breathe was hard, falling on him like a hot breeze.
