Jace wrapped his arms around her with a heated breathe, embracing her close. His eyes flickered with worry as he saw her panicked. He gazed down and saw that her eyes were tightly shut, her tiny body trembling in his arms, like a drenched swan. “Are you alright?” he whispered, stroking her hair carefully. At the sound of his voice, Katrina open her eyes slowly, she stared up, her eyes glossy and her lashes wet from the tears about to fall. Her lips parted but she could barely make a whisper. Jace could see the tremor in her breath, her blue eyes pleading to be rescue. “I will protect you” he whispered close, his hands tightened around her defensively. He turned a darkened face at the ones who were still taking pictures. “What company do you work? Are you even illegal?” he asked, his voice stern and threatening. They immediately withdraw, putting their phones down, looking quite nervous. They had just been hired to attack the girl. When Jace saw their reaction, he realized they were just there to stir up trouble and took out his phone. He made a call to the police and before he could say few words, they all scrambled away. He cut the call afterwards and turned to Katrina who was still gripping onto him. “It’s fine now. You don’t have to hide anymore” he said gently to her. Katrina raised her head up again, hesitantly, like it took every bit of courage she had. His words hit her like a soft blow, gentle and unexpected. She had a stunned look on her face showing that she was struggling to accept those words. Jace’s brows drew together as he watched her. He could see the quiet panic in her eyes, her fingers tightened around his sleeves that she had gripped. Seeing her like that made his stomach knot, he hated the fear in her face, the dread feeling of her being unprotected and harm. It bothered him more than it should. His chest tightened, a quiet ache in his chest because he suddenly realized he cared more than he wanted to. With out a word, he lifted her from off the ground into his arms. Katrina gasped inwardly, not expecting that. She stared into his eyes as he stares back, her fingers crossed around his neck. “I…can walk” she stuttered. “Too late” he answered and took her back into his car that was parked in front. As he ignite the car, Katrina stop him. “I need to go see my Mum” she told him. Jace turned to her, a slight furrow on his face. “I will send someone to check her. You need to get home and rest” he said, turning his face away quickly so she wouldn’t see his hate when he talked about her Mum. Katrina wanted to protest but she pressed her lips together and nod instead. …. When Yasmin hear the door, she assumed it was Jace and quickly apply lipstick again and rushed downstairs, wearing in a red backless dress. She was stunned to see him walked in with Katrina in his arms and halt for a moment. A hard glower invade her face and she walked quickly to them. “What is going on?” she demanded, rather than asked. At Katrina ’s pull, Jace let her down, his eyes focused on her while ignoring Yasmin completely which riled her up more. “There was an accident, and he saved me” Katrina explained with a tight throat, keeping her gaze lowered as she tucked her hair repeatedly behind her ear. Yasmin noticed that habitual act of hers, it could only mean that something happened between them. She clenched, but forced a worried face. “Oh my gosh, are you okay?” she asked, pulling Katrina to herself. Her eyes went for Jace without waiting for her answer. “Thank you for saving her. I’m glad she’s fine” she said, her voice softened in that fake, breathy way she always used when she wanted to seem caring. Jace’s countenance hardened, not bothering to hid his irritation of her presence “I didn’t do it for your sake” he cut her off. Yasmin bite her lips, feeling more annoyed. Sh turned to Katrina to ask questions but she withdraw from her and excuse herself quickly upstairs before she could be stopped. A nasty frown clouded on Yasmin’s face as she watched her go. She scoffed inwardly, trying not to slip and turned with a smile at Jace. But he also ignored her and moved upstairs, leaving her standing in a fuming anger. Her teeth gritted. Katrina was about to grab the knob of her door when suddenly her wrist was grabbed, and she turned with a startle to see Jace standing close. “Why are you running?” he asked, his voice a bit stern. She shuddered a little, her eyes barely holding his, she seemed to want to escape but Jace saw that and didn’t let her. He pushed closer and she pulled back at the same, her back hit soon and she was forced to put up a defense. “What do you want?” she struggled to let out, her arms put up to stop him from getting too close but he didn’t stop, not until there was barely any space between them. Katrina lowered her gaze, trying not to forget how to breath in that moment but his head moved slightly close, greasing her forehead. “I’m dead curious about you” he said to her, his breath suddenly became heated up. He grasped her shoulders. “You keep making me concern about you” his arms trail down her arms, he moved another feet closer, leaving no air between them. Katrina make low gasps as she tried to keep her mind straight and focus, away from his biceps that her hands are touching at the moment. “I didn’t mean to get you concern about me. I’m sorry I…” she tried to apologize but Jace cut her short. “I don’t want to hear your apology” his voice was sharp and commanding that Katrina pursed instantly. Although he felt sorry to have yelled, he did not stop or apologize. Instead, his fingers stroke her cheek, deliberately. Katrina ’s body shook, her lips parted a bit. She tried to fight the rush of adrenaline in her body. “How could you not remember me? I haven’t been able to forget you” he whispered to her ears, his hands brushing away her hair. Again, she froze, forgetting to breath. Her hands wavered as she couldn’t think properly. “What... do you mean?” she stuttered again. Jace brought his face to meet hers, lifting her chin up, refusing to let go but forced her to look into his. ‘Those eyes…’ they seemed to hypnotize him whenever he stares into them. His gaze dropped to her lips, her lower lips quivered, plush and inviting, looking almost painfully soft. Katrina noticed his gaze, she felt so nervous that she could faint but lustful desire to taste him made her shut her eyes instead, waiting anxiously.
