I could feel Dobarek’s eyes on my back as Farukan carried me to the front of the caravan. Réni had taken her spot on the bench next to Mooren.
“That was close,” I said as we came up alongside. “Where’s Shéna? How did they not find her?”
“As soon as I heard the guard at the gate talking about searching the wagons,” Réni told me, “I put her in the hidden compartment.”
“What hidden compartment?”
“The one under the floor,” she said. “That was the easiest.”
