Liam smiled humorlessly at the figure in front of him and his tutor. The person smirked, knowing he was pushing Liam's buttons. And how they loved to make him feel like crap. Liam could barely see Quinn's expression, but he noticed the way she stiffened on her seat.
"What do you want here, Kyle?" His voice came out as raspy and disdainful, not that Liam would care anyway.
Kyle's smirk widened, he dropped his backpack on the floor near the stairscase and walked closer to the table, looking at Quinn up and down. "Can't I come to my own house, lil' bro?" Liam bit his lip at the mention of his "position" in the house. Kyle would never let him forget that he was younger than him and needed to obey his orders since he was the oldest male presence in the house.
"So go to your room like you always do. Can't you see I'm busy here?" Liam made a hand gesture towards Quinn, who was still looking at his older brother. Kyle chuckled, crossing his arms.
"Yeah, I can see that you were very busy.." He mocked, refering to the almost kiss he witnessed. "Next time go to your room please, Troy could've heard or saw you."
"Don't play Mr. Responsible. I've heard and saw enought of your...activities to know I shouldn't do it on the living room." Liam spat back, earning a glare from his older brother, who just grunted, picked his backpack and climbed the stairs. Smirking victoriously, Liam looked at Quinn again.
"Sorry for this. We're not exactly the best buddies." He tried to conceal his anger. Both from don't having the chance to kiss his target and for getting caught in the act by his own brother. But Quinn didn't seem to mind at all, she was still drifting off, almost as in a trance.
"Hey" Liam waved one of his hand in front of her face. "Are you okay?"
"O-oh." Quinn shook her head, trying to wake up. "S-sure."
Liam raised an eyebrow at that. He was curious to say the least, Quinn spend the entire time he talked with his brother looking at him. Maybe she was attracted to him. That wouldn't be the first time a girl he brought home took a keen interest in his older brother, they looked alike after all. Kyle was like his older version, much like Troy was his younger one. He and his sibling looked too much alike, several people even asked if Liam and Kyle were twins. The only difference was that Kyle was a little taller, his features more mature, his eyes were a shade lighter of green and he had a stuble that he kept only to feel even more like a man.
Somehow, it angered him that Quinn had eyes for his brother rather than him.
"S-so, where were we?" Quinn tried to change subjects, looking at the book in front of Liam. All the questions were answered. The lesson ended. Liam sighed, wondering how he could spend more time with her.
"We finished..." Quinn trailed, disappointed.
"You want to eat something? I guess we have cookies." Liam asked excitedly.
"It would be a good idea." Quinn replied, smiling. Nodding Liam went straight to the kitchen. On the way, he wondered ways of making a "mood" with the nerd again.
---
Sighing in relief, Quinn watched as Liam made his way to the kitchen. She leaned on the chair, closing the book while trying to calm down her heart. She couldn't believe how stupid she was. Obviously he was going to be there, and she swore to herself that she would forget him. But when Kyle walked in all his glory in front of her, she couldn't help but act as a surprised fangirl. Groaning, she analyzed how Liam's brother had changed. He seemed taller, more mature. Nothing like the boy she knew at school.
From what she remembered, Kyle Woods was Liam's older brother by two years. When she was just a wimpy freshman, Kyle was already a junior. And oh how she drooled over him. He was the guy. Actually, the king of school before he graduated and gave the crown to his younger brother. Liam owed his big reputation partially for him, but Quinn never thought their relationship could be so bad.
She knew her feeling were unrequited. More than unrequited actually, her reputation wouldn't allow someone like her to date a guy like him. But she just couldn't forget the day he gave his umbrella to her.
"Hey, are you okay?" A masculine voice asked from behind. Quinn kept looking down, trying to conceal the tears. She knew she would received a poor treatment, but to think she would be stuck on a locker by some cruel kids was saying too much. Actually, it was stating a high school cliché that she thought only existed in movies.
"Hey." The person touched her shoulders. His hands were big, callous, but surprisingly warm. Quinn decided to look up and tell him off, but when her dull brown eyes met green, vivid ones, no world came out of her mouth. The boy was gorgeous. She knew it was so stupid to like someone just for their looks but..
"Are you okay?" He asked again, giving a concerned look. Bitting her lips, Quinn looked at the rain before her. Thanks to her bullies, she lost the school's bus, and it was raining outside.
"Oh, I know. It's because of the rain." He made an obvious reply. "I should've brought my car. Oh well.." He kept looking at the rain falling. "Are you peraphs going to walk home?" Quinn nodded without saying anything. She was too dazzed, too afraid of muttering a world and ruin everything. The mysterious boy didn't seem to mind her lack of reply though, he kept smiling at her.
"Were do you live? I can help you walk. Someone gave me this umbrella." He showed the pink umbrella, which Quinn was almost certain was from a girl. Another girl infatuated with him.
Quinn was about to accept, when she remembered what kind of place she lived at. A boy like him would never walk her towards such a poor place. Ashamed, she furiously shook her head in denial. The boy made a disappointed look towards her.
"Why not? Doesn't matter if you live far away." She bit her lip and looked away, still afraid he would insist. Suddenly, a defeated sigh escaped his lips.
"Okay then, take it." He gave the umbrella to her. Quinn widened her eyes, holding the umbrella in confusion. Then, he did another unexpected thing. He walked out of school, rain falling on his entire body. Quinn kept motionless, astounded that someone would do something like that for her. The boy was so wet she could see his broad body under the white shirt. He suddenly stopped and looked behind.
"I'm Kyle by the way." He then walked away for good, leaving a frozen Quinn behind. She didn't move. She didn't have the strenght to. She didn't say a thing.
She was a coward after all.
Quinn still remembered that day. She should've thanked him properly for the help, not only that but present herself to him as well. But all she could do was put the umbrella on the "Lost and Found" section and keep admiring him from afar. When he graduated, she swore that she should forget him. He never looked her way again, it was useless.
"Hey." A voice called while going down the stairs. Quinn looked up to see a very much shirtless Kyle. His hair was wet, and a towell lazyly rested on his shoulder. She bit her lip, trying to not say something stupid again.
"You don't talk much, do you?" He said, standing in front of her while giving that sexy god aura. But that he didn't have to make an effort to have. Quinn once more thought about keep her mouth shut, while praying for Liam to come back already.
"I kinda like quiet girls, but when someone greets you the least you can do is answer." He spoke again.
Say something
Say something
Don't drool over him!
"What are you doing with her?" Liam finally arrived, holding a tray of food. Quinn would've raised an eyebrow at his atempt of charming her, but Kyle was just so irresistible.
"I'm just talking. Can't I even talk with her?" Kyle replied. Liam grunted.
"We are about to have a snack, if you don't mind..." Liam put the tray on the table.
"No, I don't." Kyle picked some cookies off of the tray and smirked. "But I'll enjoy my cookies upstairs." Liam made an annoyed sounde while his older brother climbed the stairs when suddenly he stopped and looked at Quinn.
"Nice seeing you again. Umbrella girl." He winked.
