The first thing Ivy felt was the cold.
The cold kissed her bare skin, whispering along her spine. Her lashes fluttered as her eyes blinked open, and the ceiling above her came into view. It had rough wooden beams the lights in the room where low. The faint scent of whiskey and leather hanging thick in the air.
She sat up too fast, heart thundering. “s**t”she muttered
Wrong room.
Wrong bed.
everything was wrong.
The sheets were black. The mattress firm. There were shackles hanging from the bedposts, but its actually iron cuffs like something out of a damn torture chamber. She looked down her body and her hoodie was gone,so were her jeans. She wore nothing now but a black Viper Kings T-shirt that hung down to mid-thigh.
And underneath?
Nothing.
“Oh my god…” she screamed.
She threw back the sheets and stumbled off the bed. Her feet hit the hardwood with a soft thud. She was in some kind of loft, rustic and dangerous room, just like the man who dragged her into this mess.
She rushed toward the door… only to find it locked.
“What the hell?!”
A low, amused voice drifted from the shadows. “Finally, the Sleeping beauty is awake.”
She spun around.
Jax Maddox leaned in the doorway across the room, his arms folded and shoulder propped against the frame. He looked so relaxed it made her blood boil, he was wearing black jeans with tight tee. And Dog tags swinging from his neck, with Tattoos snaked down his arms like secrets begging to be exposed
Her voice cracked with fury. “You locked me in?”
“I kept you safe,” he corrected, stepping inside. “You passed out in my club, and it didn’t seem smart to toss you to the wolves.”
“Did you undress me?”
He smirked. “You were soaked in sweat, and shaking, you needed to be out of those clothes" don’t worry princess I didn’t touch what isn’t mine.” he added.
“You think that’s reassuring?!”
His smirk faded. “I don’t give a damn what you think. You walked into my world last night and made a whole lot of noise. I kept you alive. You should be thanking me.”
She took a step back. “You’re crazy.”
“No,” he said simply, closing the distance between them in three long strides. “I’m the only thing keeping you breathing right now.”
She met his eyes, hers full of defiance. “Let me go.”she ordered.
He chuckled darkly. “You still don’t get it, do you?”
Then he reached into his back pocket and pulled out something small, metallic.
She blinked.
A collar.
No, not just any collar. A thin black leather band with a silver Viper emblem at the center. If didn't look tight, and heavy. But symbolic.
“What the f**k is that?” she questioned.
He held it up, his eyes locked on hers. “Your leash, princess.”
Her stomach twisted. “You’re insane.”she shouted
“I’m in charge.”
“I’m not your f*****g pet.”
“No,” he said, circling her slowly. “You’re not. You’re mine.”
“You don’t even know me!”
“I know everything I need to. You’re smart and Desperate. Fierce enough to walk into a den of monsters to save someone else. That’s loyalty, That’s strength. And that?” He leaned close, his breath hot against her neck. “That makes you mine.”
“I’m not agreeing to anything.”
“You don’t have a choice.”
She slapped him.
The sound echoed through the room like a gunshot.
He didn’t even flinch.
Instead… he laughed, it was Deep, rough. Turned on.
“Good girl.”he whispered.
Then, faster before she could react, he grabbed her wrist and slammed her against the wall, it was not hard enough to hurt. But hard enough to make her feel it.
His body caged hers, chest to chest, with his eyes burning.
“You have fire, Ivy. And I like fire. But if you want to survive in this world, you’ll need to learn when to burn… and when to kneel.”
“f**k you,” she hissed.
His gaze dropped to her lips.
Then lower.
And lower.
“You think I won’t break you? I break men twice your size without blinking.”
“I’m not afraid of you.”
“You should be.”
“I’m not yours.”
He held up the collar again. “Then prove it. Walk out that door and find your sister without my help. If you can get past the locked door. The men outside. The ones who would love a sweet little thing like you to keep them warm.”
She didn’t move.
She Didn’t breathe.
He stepped back and placed the collar gently on the bed.
“One week,” he said. “You stay here. Play by my rules. Let me find Mia. You misbehave, I won’t stop them next time. And if you want to leave after that…”
He shrugged. “You can try.”
Her eyes narrowed. “You think you’re doing me a favor?”
“No. I think I’m giving you a taste of something you’ll beg for by the end.”
She said nothing.
But Her heart thundered.
Her thighs ached, and she hated it, she hated the way his voice turned her insides liquid and made her want things she would never even dared to fantasize about.
He walked to the door then paused, and looked over his shoulder.
“Breakfast is in the hall. Don’t take too long. I’ve got a bike to ride… and a girl to tame.”
Then he was gone.
And Ivy? She was left in his bed, wearing his shirt, surrounded by his scent and that damn collar staring at her like a brand waiting to happen.
What the hell have I done?she questioned herself.
