The compound buzzed with noise.
Engines roared in the distance, loud laughter echoed from the clubhouse. The sharp scent of gasoline and cigarette smoke hung heavy in the evening air.
Ivy hadn’t seen Jax since the chapel. and part of her hated how that made her restless and Anxious. Like her nerves couldn’t settle until he was back in her line of sight.
Which made her insane, obviously.
He was the enemy.
The captor.
The bastard who tossed her into a lion’s den and told her to survive.
But he had also shown her the photo of Mia. And that meant something. A peek of trust. A crack in the wall.
And it was driving her mad.
So when one of the club girls, a busty redhead in leather hotpants and six-inch heels, popped her head into the hallway and said“Prez said you’re allowed out now, sweetheart,” Ivy didn’t hesitate.
She slipped out, tugging at the oversized Viper Kings tee still hanging off her like a dress. She had no shoes, no bra, just bare thighs and attitude. Her knife, the one from his drawer, was tucked against her hip beneath the hem. Just in case.
The clubhouse was alive.
Loud rock music, playing, half-naked girls grinding against leather clad men. Booze flowed like water. Cigarettes burned in ashtrays.and someone shouted, “Loser drinks the whole bottle!” and laughter followed.
Ivy moved through it like smoke, small and unnoticed, until she wasn’t.
A hand clamped around her wrist.
She spun.
She was expecting to see jax but
It wasn’t Jax.
It was one of the bikers, he was tall, greasy, and stinking of weed and tequila. A prospect, judging by his blank cut, which was young, and reckless, like a monster already training.
“Didn’t know the prez was into tiny little kittens,” he said, dragging his gaze down her body. “You look like you could use some real fun.”
“Let me go.”
He grinned wider. “Don’t be like that. You wanna be Viper’s girl, you better learn how to share.”
“Let. Me. Go.”
He didn’t.
So she drove her knee into his groin.
Hard.
And He dropped with a howl.
Ivy whirled, her heart hammering, only to run straight into a wall of muscle.
A wall named Jax.
His hands caught her shoulders before she stumbled. His eyes, stormy, and deadly, looked at the prospect writhing on the floor.
“What the f**k happened?”
“He touched me,” Ivy snapped. “Without permission.”
The room fell silent.
Dead silent.
Jax’s gaze turned to the groaning man.
“You touched her?”
“I...I didn’t know, Prez....”
“You. Touched. Her.”
Jax didn’t raise his voice.
He didn’t have to.
Three words. Quiet. Cold and Sharp as a blade.
Then he moved.
In one brutal motion, Jax dragged the prospect up by his throat and slammed him against the wall.
Bottles rattled. The music cut off.
“No one,” he growled, voice low and vibrating with rage, “touches what belongs to me.”
The man choked.
Jax let go, and the guy dropped like trash.
Then Jax turned to Ivy.
“Come with me. Now.”
She hesitated.
He grabbed her wrist, not hard, not cruel. Just firm. And possessive.
Like a king claiming his queen.
He dragged her through the clubhouse, up the stairs, and into his room. The door slammed shut behind them.
The tension was instant.
Hot.
Suffocating.
She spun, furious. “You didn’t need to drag me!”
“You shouldn’t have been out there alone.”
“You said I could move freely!”
“I said you had a week under my roof. That doesn’t mean walk into the wolves’ den wearing nothing and think they’ll play nice.”
“I’m not your f*****g toy, Jax!”
His eyes darkened. “No. You’re my property.”
She slapped him.
Again.
His head turned slightly.
He didn’t move.
Didn’t react.
And somehow that was worse.
She was shaking now, her chest heaving, her cheeks flushed with fury, and beneath it, something hotter. More dangerous.
Something wet and aching.
He stepped forward.
She backed into the wall.
“Do you think I want this, Ivy? That I like dragging you back to my room like a wild f*****g cat because you don’t know how to survive out there?”
“I know exactly how to survive.”
“Do you?” he whispered, leaning in. “Because you keep playing with fire. You keep testing me. And baby girl, one day I’m going to stop holding back.”
Her voice was breathless. “Then don’t.”
A pause.
Then…
His mouth crashed against hers.
Hard.
Hot.
Angry.
It wasn’t gentle. It wasn’t sweet.
It was a claim.
He kissed like he owned her mouth. Like he had earned the right to ravage her tongue and make her moan against his lips. His hands gripped her hips, lifting her like she weighed nothing, pressing her back against the wall as his mouth devoured her.
She kissed him back.
God help her, she kissed him back.
Fingers tangled in his shirt. Nails scratched his chest. Legs wrapped around his waist like her body already knew how to beg.
Then he pulled away, just enough to look into her eyes.
“You still want to run?”
She shook her head.
“You still think you’re not mine?”
She didn’t answer.
So he ripped the collar off the bedpost and fastened it around her neck.
Click.
The soft leather hugged her throat.
He stepped back.
“Now you look like mine.”
Ivy touched the silver emblem at her throat, heart racing, lips swollen from his kiss.
This was insane.
Twisted.
Dark.
But she didn’t want to take it off.
Not yet.
