Jasmine’s POV “No,” I answered. The word came out too quickly, almost defensive, and I immediately regretted it. Miles tilted his head slightly, studying me like he always did, quietly, as if he could hear the things I wasn’t saying. “Right,” he said after a moment. He didn’t argue. He didn’t tease. He didn’t insist the way people usually did when they thought they knew my body better than I did. Instead, he wiped his hands on a cloth and nodded toward the door. “I’m going to grab something for myself,” he said calmly. “I’ll be back.” “Okay,” I replied.
