Mags
---
I saw him follow Ara in. He went to the back booth but I saw him watching her. I've lived here a long time, I know what lives in the forest. Typically they stay to themselves and we stay to ourselves. I knew what they were when they came in, generally I enjoy having them around, but the way they are following Ara doesn't sit well with me.
--
When Ara got here a couple years ago, I could tell there was something about her. She seemed small, and like she needed someone to look after her. She wasn't from around here, but when she came in looking for a job, I felt connected to her, I had a house she could stay at not too far from the diner. So I could keep an eye out for her.
Even though I've known her for a couple years, she is still a quiet thing, I'm not sure where she came from, but she doesn't seem to want to talk about it.
--
I sent Ara to the office to do some paperwork. That should keep her away for a few hours.
"Back again?" I questioned him.

"Yeah, you're coffee is just worth coming back for." I tried to sound normal, but she was really starting to annoy me. Why did she keep interfering?
She snorted, "Yeah, I'm sure that's why."
She handed me some coffee and then looked at me. She seemed to be studying me. Then she sat down across from me.
"I don't think there's anything here for you," she said looking me in the eye.
"I don't know what you're talking about," I picked up the coffee.
"I've lived here a long time, a very long time," she said maintaining eye contact with me. "I know you have more important things to be doing anyways, it's probably time you left."
There was something odd about her. She looked and she smelled human, but the way she cold hold eye contact with me, not many could do that. After that she handed me the bill and walked away.

I finally finished up the paperwork, although it wasn't my favorite thing to do, it was actually better than dealing with customers. Especially when it was a busy evening.
Mags was just about ready to close up for the night when she came to check on me.
"You can be done for the night," she said while she was putting the papers away. "By the way, did you notice anyone strange on your way here today?"
I shook my head.
There was no reason for anyone to take that road, unless they were lost. And they would have to be very lost to find that road.
"I'll see you tomorrow Mags," as I was about to leave she called back to me.
"Why don't you come in for the early shift tomorrow?" I nodded and zipped back up my hoodie.

I may have left when Mags asked me to leave, but I still waited outside to make sure she made it home safe.
I saw her come out, with that hoodie over her, like it could shield her from the world. As she walked through the people outside the diner, she silently walked through without a single person looking her way.
I shifted back into my wolf form to follow her back to her home.

I ducked through the crowd of people hanging outside the diner and made my way back to the path to my house. I wonder why Mags wanted me to work the earlier shift, Jen usually handles the mornings, and I am not a morning person.
As I continued my walk, I could hear someone following me, it sounded like it was coming from the forest. I stopped, and the steps stopped.
"Is there someone out there?" I was really hoping that there would be no answer. I waited a few seconds, and started walking again.

How could she hear me? I was a decent distance and can go undetected by some of our most skilled trackers. She started walking again, but I could tell that she was more alert as she was walking.
I decided to take a chance. She didn't seem afraid in her dream. Maybe it would be easier to approach her this way.
I came out of the woods and started following behind her on the path.
She suddenly stopped walking. It was as if she could sense me. She slowly turned around and her green eyes met mine.

Ara

I felt a presence behind me. I stopped and slowly turned around to look. When I did, I saw a huge black wolf with blue eyes. It looked just like the wolf from my dream.
I know that I should be terrified, but for some reason I felt completely calm. We looked into each other's eyes for a while before either of us moved.

At least she isn't running away, I lowered my head and slowly took a couple steps toward her. She just stood there watching me. I was just a few feet away from her now.
She crouched down and slowly lifted her hand towards me.
I walked the rest of the way to her. Making sure to crouch slowly. Hoping she would understand that I wasn't a threat to her.
I was just inches from her fingers touching me. Then I heard someone calling her. I dashed off into the woods. Before I could be spotted.

Ara
--
As the wolf slowly came closer to me, I didn't feel any fear, even though I had never seen such a large animal before, let alone a wolf.
I was almost able to pet him and then I heard someone calling my name.
"Ara! Hey! I was hoping to catch you before you left your shift!" Jen was smiling as she came catching up to me. "Mags said we were going to start sharing the morning shift! I am so excited!"
"Oh yeah, it will be fun," I smiled, but I was was really wondering what had happened to the wolf. If only she had been a few minutes later.
"So, I have a big ask," she grinned at me, and I just knew I wasn't going to like where this was going. "So, you know how you live alone?"
I nodded.
"I totally decided that you need a roomie!" She hugged me. "It will be perfect to have some company and I would love to be closer to the diner, less walking you know."
Even though Jen and I have very different personalities, she was the closest thing to a friend I had ever really made. She didn't seem to mind my like of conversation.
"So can I tell Mags that it's ok with you?" she looked at me hopeful.
"Yeah, it will be nice to have another person around," even though I preferred my space. It could be fun with Jen.
She squealed and gave me another hug.
"Ok, I'll be back in a few hours with some of my stuff, and pizza! Gotta have pizza for our first night of being roomies!! She hugged me one more time before running back down the road.
I looked back at the forest, wondering if the wolf was still in the area, and if I'd ever see him again.

I watched as the other girl ran up to my mate. I didn't like her at all. She just had to show up right now.
After the other girl had left I followed my mate back to her house, just to make sure that she was safe. Once she was inside, I ran back to the packhouse. I had some questions for John about this girl named Jen that wad going to be living with my mate.

When I saw that man following Ara I decided to send Jen, who was my niece to go follow her. I think it was time that Ara had a little bit of closer company. At least someone else to help keep an eye on her when I couldn't.
