I could feel my rage rolling off me in waves. Sam wasn't going to be leaving here alive if he didn't let go of my mate right now.
Sam could feel my power and anger and he turned and looked at me. However he did not let go of my mate. I started taking a few steps towards them and Sam dropped her arm.
The two girls went grabbed their pizza and left the shop. Even though I wanted nothing more than to go after Ara, I had to take care of these losers.
"What are you doing here Sam?" I growled.
"What? No hello?" he said while getting up. His buddies decided now would be a great time to join him.
Even with the five of them, we had stronger wolves. I could sense that their wolves were on edge and wanted to submit to mine.
"Didn't your father warn you not to step foot onto our lands anymore? I would hate for something to happen to you." I hoped he would take the hint and leave with his tail tucked.
"This town isn't part of your lands." he said while clenching his fists.
"Yes it is, humans are here, but it is still under my protection." I keep staring right into his eyes.
John and Max came closer behind me. Standing there with their arms folded.
"Why are you here?" I asked in a threatening tone.
He wasn't an alpha yet, so my aura was stronger than his. After a couple seconds he averted his eyes.
"I would really hate for someone to tell daddy what you've been up to," piped in John. "You know how he feels about people disrespecting him."
Sam glared at John for a second and then motioned for his guys to follow him out.
"What do you think he was up to?" asked Max.
"I'm not sure," I said.
When it came to Max he was always looking for trouble, or causing it. I still felt edgy, but I was starting to calm down.
"Oh man," whined John.
We both looked at him.
"We were so close. The chances of running into Jen, and now those jerks ruined my chance to talk to her."
That's right, they had slipped out during our confrontation with Sam. Seeing him grabbing her arm had almost sent me over the edge.

I had completely froze when he grabbed my arm. When he looked at me I felt a surge of danger wash over me. I was panicking on how exactly I was going to get away from him.
Then the three men from the diner showed up. Sam dropped my arm as the men approached and Jen took the opportunity to grab my arm and slip away. Once we were out of the pizza shop I felt like I could breathe again.
"Jen, who were those guys?" I asked while rubbing the arm Sam had held onto.
"Sam and his guys are trouble, you never want to be caught alone with them." She sighed. "They used to come to the diner occasionally and it always ended with some fight or broken tables."
"A few months ago was the last I had seen of them, and I was hoping it was going to stay that way."
We got into her jeep and headed back to the house.
"Do you know the other men?" I asked. The men that had come in. The one I had seen at the diner, he felt familiar to me.
"Yeah, John and his friends." she smiled to herself. "John is a regular at the diner. She blushed a little. “John was the one with the light brown hair, then there was Max, He was stalky one with brown eyes and dark hair. I’m not quite sure who the third one was.. I had never met him before.”
I nodded my head, I was a little disappointed to not find out the name of the third man. The one with the bright blue eyes.
When we got to the house we had a quick we pulled out the pizza and had chatted a bit longer. I had found out that Jen was an only child, her mom had passed away when she was younger and her father had remarried when she was sixteen. A year later they had moved to another town and Jen preferred to stay here. She said that it made her feel closer to her mom. Mags was apparently her mom’s sister.
I didn’t feel like oversharing my history, so I told her my parents had passed away when and I had decided to move out when I had turned eighteen. I’m not quite sure why I had chosen this town, but when I got here it felt right. So this became home.
“Well, I’m glad you chose here. I feel like we have a lot in common,” she smiled at me and then we turned on a movie to “complete our girl’s night,” as Jen said.

To be so close and then missing an opportunity. My luck seems to just be getting better and better.
I looked at John, he seemed to be more than a little bummed as well. If he liked this girl this much she must be decent. I’ve never seem him take more than a fleeting interest in a girl before.
“How long have you known her for?” I asked John.
“Known who?” He tried to play it off like he didn’t know what I was talking about, but considering he didn’t make eye contact with me, I knew he knew exactly who I was talking about.
“Jen,” I said. “How long have you known her for?”
If she was going to be living with my mate, I wanted to make sure that she wasn’t a danger in any way. Especially since it looks like we are going to have to look out for both of the girls now. Sam also being in the picture didn’t make it any easier.
“Oh, maybe for a couple years now. She happens to work at the diner, and you know how I need my coffee.” He said.
Yeah, I know exactly how much he loves his coffee. He hated the stuff until a couple years ago, and now I know what changed his mind about it, and now he goes to town to grab coffee two or three times a week.
Max snorted.
"And...?" I asked looking at John.
"And.. what?" asked John.
"He couldn't tell you much about her, all he does is show up and order coffee. Then he spends the next hour staring at her." Max said.
"I'm not staring at her, I'm just enjoying the atmosphere," John said indignantly.
I looked at John who obviously couldn't give me any more information and then back at Max.
"Anything you could fill in?" I asked him.
"She's Mags niece, started working at the diner a couple years ago. She stays out of trouble." Max replied.
Max was a good judge of character, he was more observant and less of a talker.
"When are you going for your next coffee?" I asked John.
"Tomorrow, wanna join?"
I nodded my head. Looks like I'm going to have to start getting a little closer if I want to ever really meet my mate.

When I fell asleep I found myself in a mist. It wasn't normal though, it looked as though it were glowing. It was so thick that I couldn't see anything.
"Hello?" I called out.
"Why have you come here?" answered a voice. The voice was very familiar. It sounded like, like my mom's voice.
"You shouldn't be here," it said.
"Who are you?" It couldn't possibly be my mom, it's been so many years since the accident. I had almost forgotten what her voice sounded like.
I saw a shadow appear in the mist. I was the outline of a woman.
"You mustn't be here," it whispered. "It isn't safe for you. Are you still wearing the necklace?"
I reached for my necklace and clutched the pendant in my hand. I was about ready to reply to the voice and everything vanished.
I was now in the woods. It looked like it was deeper than I usually walked. I didn't hear or see any birds... there were no bunnies hopping around.
I heard a crunching of some twigs and I turned around. I saw red eyes. I felt the danger from those fiery eyes. I turned to run and could hear the creature running after me. I tripped and twisted my ankle. I couldn't get up. I looked behind me to see a huge black wolf with red eyes about running towards me.
I closed my eyes and felt something jump over me. I heard growling and I opened my eyes. Now there was a second black wolf. He was positioned in front of me, blocking me from the view of the red eyed wolf.
The wolf in front of me was growling and crouched ready to jump at the red eyed wolf.
