"Stand up," Aksa ordered.
Viera immediately got up from the floor of the office. She straightened her messy clothes with trembling hands. Her face was still flushed and her breathing was not yet completely steady.
Aksa stood up, straightening his shirt and buttoning his suit calmly. "Clear your evening schedule. You are coming with me to the Belmont Group's charity auction."
"Belmont Group?" Viera looked at him in confusion. "Isn't Victor Belmont a close friend of Dirga's?"
"Formerly an ally, now a target," Aksa replied flatly, walking toward his desk. "Wear the red dress I gave you last week. I want everyone to see you tonight."
"As you wish, Aksa," Viera bowed obediently, then hurried out of the room.
Not long after the door was closed, Leo entered with hurried steps carrying a tablet computer.
"Reporting, Sir. There is movement outside our plan," Leo said quickly. "Dirga was released from police custody this afternoon. Victor Belmont paid his bail in full."
Aksa stopped his movements. He stared at Leo with a sharpening gaze. "Victor freed that mad dog?"
"That's correct, Sir. Victor is also reported to have received a massive secret injection of funds this morning. He seems to know we blocked his credit access and is now trying to fight back."
Aksa actually smirked. "Interesting. I thought he would just surrender immediately. Prepare the car for tonight, Leo. Let's see how far these pests can jump."
Eight o'clock at night. The Grand Continental Ballroom.
Crystal chandeliers reflected luxurious light to every corner of the room. Aksa stepped in calmly, while Viera held onto his left arm tightly. The red silk dress Viera wore wrapped around her body perfectly, instantly making the woman the center of the guests' attention.
Cynical whispers began to be heard from various corners. Most of them knew who Viera was and knew that her kingdom had just been destroyed last month.
"Keep your head up, Viera," Aksa ordered softly, realizing Viera's grip on his arm was trembling slightly. "Let them know who owns you now."
Viera took a deep breath. She raised her chin, cast aside her shame, and put on the arrogant face of a queen standing alongside the new ruler.
Barely ten steps into the room, a middle-aged man in a white suit stepped up to cut off their path. Victor Belmont. A condescending smile was clearly imprinted on the man's face.
"Aksa. I am truly surprised you have the guts to show your face at my event," Victor greeted with a loud voice, deliberately attracting the attention of the businessmen around them.
Aksa stopped walking. He looked Victor up and down coldly. "I only came to see how much of your wealth is left before I take over everything the day after tomorrow."
Victor laughed uproariously. "Do you think I am as weak and stupid as Dirga? Do you think the threat of a hundred and fifty million dollar debt at the Central Bank can choke me?"
Aksa narrowed his eyes slightly.
"You underestimate my connections, young man," Victor stepped forward. "That debt is no longer a problem. I have already received a secret injection of funds much larger than the valuation of that small company of yours."
"Really?" Aksa smiled cynically. "Funds from where? Street loan sharks?"
"From an ally you thought was dead."
That deep and hatred-filled voice came from behind Victor.
Viera's body immediately stiffened rigidly. Her blood seemed to freeze.
Victor shifted to the side, making way for a man who stepped out of the crowd. Dirga. The former billionaire was wearing a neat suit, his eyes radiating a dense aura of revenge.
"Hello, Aksa," Dirga greeted. "Are you surprised to see me outside of a holding cell?"
"Not really," Aksa replied flatly, not intimidated at all. "Just a little disappointed that the police let a mad dog roam free."
Dirga stared at Viera who was standing next to Aksa. His gaze changed, full of disgust. "And you... you cheap w***e. Are you really wearing a bright red dress while holding the arm of the man who destroyed your husband? Disgusting."
Viera bit her lower lip. Her heart was beating fast, but Aksa's touch on her waist gave her strength. Her pride refused to look weak in front of the man who had thrown her away.
"Watch your mouth, Dirga," Viera shot back sharply. "I am holding the arm of the man who won. You are just a loser living off Victor's mercy now."
Dirga growled, his hands clenching hard. "You will regret your words, Viera! As soon as Victor and I destroy Apex Capital, I will make sure you crawl at my feet begging for mercy!"
Victor patted Dirga's shoulder, calming him down. "Save your energy, Dirga." He then looked at Aksa with a wide smirk. "Enjoy the party, Aksa. Drink plenty of champagne, because tomorrow morning, your company's shares will be reduced to ashes."
Aksa did not reply to the provocation with anger at all. He instead looked back and forth between Dirga and Victor with a crooked smile.
"Thank you for the welcome, Victor," Aksa said casually. His hand pulled Viera's waist so she pressed even closer to him. "I really appreciate your effort in gathering all the pests in one place. This will save me a lot of time in exterminating both of you at once."
Without waiting for their reply, Aksa turned around and walked Viera away. Behind his calm face, Aksa's brain had already started spinning fast. His enemies had just declared open war, and the predator was ready to play their game.
