Chapter 6

Classical music played in the ballroom of The Grand Continental. Aksa left Viera for a moment at the VIP table to take a phone call. Viera sat alone, sipping champagne calmly. Suddenly, a woman in a gold dress sat in the empty chair right across from Viera. Sylvia, one of the socialites who used to follow her around. "All alone, Viera?" Sylvia greeted with a condescending smile. "Did your new master just leave you?" "That's none of your business, Sylvia. Get away from my table," Viera replied flatly. Sylvia laughed softly, leaning forward. "Don't be too arrogant. Enjoy your luxurious dress and this champagne while you can. My husband just had a meeting with Victor Belmont this afternoon. They have prepared a big surprise for Apex Capital tomorrow morning." Viera narrowed her eyes. "What surprise?" "Something that will make that new master of yours go bankrupt in a day," Sylvia whispered in satisfaction. "A massive media boycott and sabotage at the North Port. All of Apex Capital's material supplies will be withheld. Tomorrow, you will become a beggar again, Viera. And I will gladly watch you beg." Without waiting for a reply, Sylvia stood up and walked away with a little laugh. Viera stiffened. The North Port was the logistical lifeblood for Apex Capital's latest projects. If the supplies there were stopped along with bad news in the media, Aksa's company shares would definitely plummet drastically. Viera immediately stood up and walked quickly to find Aksa. She found the man near the exit, whispering to Leo. "We are going home now," Aksa said when he saw Viera approaching. Inside the luxury car speeding through the capital's night, the atmosphere was silent. Aksa was busy checking reports on his tablet. Viera sat restlessly next to him. Her mind was in turmoil. She had a choice: stay silent and let Aksa be ruined so she could be free, or prove her loyalty to this man who had forcefully stripped her of her pride. Viera glanced at Aksa. This man's aura was too strong, too dominating. Viera remembered Dirga's face at the party earlier—the face of a loser full of dirty revenge. Viera steeled her heart. "Aksa," Viera called out, breaking the silence. "Speak," Aksa replied without looking away from his screen. "I... I overheard a conversation from Sylvia, the wife of one of Victor's shareholders," Viera said quickly. "Victor and Dirga are planning to sabotage our logistics supplies at the North Port tomorrow morning. They have also paid the media to release fake news so Apex Capital's shares will fall." The movement of Aksa's fingers on the tablet screen stopped. He slowly turned his head, staring at Viera with a sharp and intimidating gaze. "Why are you telling me this?" Aksa asked with a deep voice. "If I am ruined tomorrow, you can be free. You can go back to Dirga." Viera immediately shifted closer. She grabbed Aksa's large hand and held it tightly. "I will never go back to that loser!" Viera stated firmly, her eyes looking directly into Aksa's eyes without hesitation. "He threw me away just like that when his company was ruined. I am yours now, Aksa. I am choosing the winning side." Aksa stared deeply into Viera's face, searching for a lie there. A few seconds later, a faint smirk appeared on Aksa's lips. He pulled Viera's waist until the woman leaned against his chest. "A smart decision, Viera," Aksa whispered. He then pressed the intercom button connected to the front seat. "Leo." "Yes, Mr. Aksa," Leo answered from the front. "Pull all our security guards from the North Port tonight. Let Victor's men in and withhold our supplies," Aksa ordered absolutely. Viera widened her eyes in shock. She raised her head to look at Aksa. "What are you doing?! If they are pulled back, they will really sabotage everything! Aren't we supposed to prevent it?" Aksa stroked Viera's hair slowly. "If I prevent it tonight, they will just find another way tomorrow. I hate playing cat and mouse." "Then what is your plan?" Viera asked in confusion. "I will let them walk into my trap and feel like they've won," Aksa answered coldly. "Let them attack. I need a legitimate reason to destroy them down to their roots." The next day. Nine o'clock in the morning in the top office of Apex Capital. The office atmosphere seemed busy and tense. Phones rang non-stop. However, inside his office, Aksa was actually sitting casually while sipping his black coffee. Viera stood near the window, staring anxiously at the television screen. The breaking news continued to broadcast the logistical chaos at the North Port. "...hundreds of tons of material supplies belonging to Apex Capital are withheld due to a sudden licensing dispute. This has triggered investor panic. Apex Capital's shares are reported to have plummeted sharply by up to fifteen percent this morning..." The office door opened. Leo came in bringing the latest report. "As you predicted, Sir. Our shares have fallen drastically," Leo reported calmly. "The fake news spread by Victor's side is working very effectively. They are using a shell company called Horizon Investment to buy our falling shares at a cheap price." "Horizon Investment?" Aksa put down his coffee cup. "That must be the secret injection of funds Victor was boasting about last night." "That's correct, Sir," Leo nodded. "Victor secretly mortgaged all of his remaining personal shares in the Belmont Group to a foreign consortium a week ago to obtain those funds." Aksa laughed softly. His laugh sounded dark and deadly. "He mortgaged his own company to attack me? How stupid." Viera turned her head, still not understanding. "Aksa, our shares are down fifteen percent. They are buying up our shares. How can we fight back?" Aksa stood up from his chair. "Do you think I don't know where those Horizon Investment funds came from, Viera?" Viera shook her head slowly. "From where?" "From me," Aksa answered absolutely. Viera's eyes widened completely. "W-what do you mean?" "The foreign consortium that lent money to Victor last week... is a fictitious company that I deliberately formed," Aksa walked closer to Viera. "I lent my own money to him, with all of Belmont Group's shares as collateral. And today, he is using that money to sabotage my company." Viera covered her mouth with one hand. She finally realized how terrifying the strategy of the man in front of her was. Aksa had planned Victor's ruin long before the party last night. "Leo," Aksa called out. "Yes, Sir." "Victor has violated the loan clause because he used those funds for illegal acts of sabotage. His loan contract is legally void as of today," Aksa ordered with a baritone voice that echoed in the room. "Execute the collateral now. Seize all shares of the Belmont Group." "Yes, Sir. The execution documents are ready and are being sent directly to the central bank," Leo answered. Aksa stared at Viera with a savage smirk. "Now, get ready. We are going to meet your ex-husband and that stupid friend of his. I want to see their expressions when they find out they have just dug their own graves."
