CHAPTER FIVE: LEE

Killian's POV

" You know this is the fourth time this month. You have quite a reputation here Mr. Lee ". So serious, he should know that acting like that all the time could add ten years to his already aging body. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

The voice of the warden seems a little off this time. Usually he would be yelling at me or punishing me by doing community service but he kept me at his office for 2 hours. And honestly doing community service is so much better than enduring 2 hours of non stop blabber.

"-so now since you have not stopped showing off your powers, the court decided to offer you a preposition." Huh, a what now? " Would you be willing to attend the kingdom's academy?"

"No, it's not an option to begin with. Tss what good would it bring me to enter the academy" He sighed and momentarily closed his eyes, he must've been the one that passed the preposition. "I know you don't want to leave the orphanage but I'm here aren't I? This is an opportunity to start your life. Finding odd jobs wont do you no good, you are already a pretty good wielder you could get a position in the army if you graduate from the academy. I've been looking after the orphanage before you were even born boy, so what do you say?" he looked hopeful, I know he would always take care of the orphanage. It was him I'm worried about, he was like a father to me. Everyone looked down us orphans, he was the only one willing enough to fund the orphanage. Now that I was older I vowed to help him, keeping the orphanage going should be my duty. I left that day feeling conflicted. Metal attribute was rare and my ability to manipulate it was even rarer. I was sloppy though my combat skills and martial art talent were my strongest feat. I was tempted to go of course, getting a job after academy was a sure thing but I have my doubts since my experience living as an orphan were terrible.

I was walking towards the orphanage when i overheard something. "Have you heard a village was burned down in Allia. They said bandits were the culprits." man 1

"Oh my goodness! So it is true, a lot of villages were being burned and ransacked, some young teens were even taken." man 2

What? Burning, k********g? What kind of monsters would do that. I approached the group of men. "Excuse me, bandits you say did those?" they hesitated for a bit. " Yes it happened first in the east, this time they went south to Allia, although this time no one was taken."

"Tsk, tsk ,tsk the army should really do better. I hope they don't come here."

So it was a fake wildfire? Is it human trafficking? Wait only one family was attacked it's strange. Why would bandits do that? I really should not be thinking about this instead of my situation.

Warden Santos went to the orphanage that night.

"Kid, you know the local court has acknowledged your bravery for protecting the village at the last bandit raid." he stopped and looked at me dead in the eye. " You might have heard of the recent attacks? Aspiring students-to be taken and their families burned to ash?" what students? The academy! "What do you mean by that?" he looked sad. "Reneians that are coming of age specially those that have unique and deadly powers have been taken. That attack was speculated to have been an attempt to take you." I was spooked, my eyes started to blur. Attempt? k********g? "That's impossible, how could they have known about my attribute?"

"Nobody knows, they come unexpected. It must've been the reason why they attacked the orphanage first." he studied me, I looked down. "So this is why you proposed for me to enter the academy?", he was hesitant to answer at first. " Kid, the information I gave you was confidential. Investigations are still on going, and the higher ups are tensed." They're going to send me away to protect the village. But I could protect them could I? "But-", "But no kid the last raid injured most of the soldiers the kingdom is in need of more. I'm afraid they could take you away! I can't let that happen, over my dead body!!" he was serious, this is serious. I looked at him. "No, no, no this is not your business kid. Don't meddle.."

Aish, I can't just stay at the academy and do nothing. Ridiculous.

*At the Academy gates*

So this is the famous Academy of Fire? Hmm... The gates were huge made of titanium metal, the most difficult metal to manipulate. Yeah, I tried. Sighing, I leaned against a tree, the gates only opened at a certain time of this day. Even the guards outside and inside the academy did not have the access to close and open it whenever they wanted. It was amazing, an impeccable first defense mechanism. "Huh, I didn't know someone else enrolled late besides me." a female voice echoed above me. I looked up and there and behold, a Hennessi? More even a girl? She had the typical Hennessi look, blue hair, fair skin, a white extravagant long sleeved shirt tucked into gray pants, and tucked into a black pair of knee-high boots. Ahh rich kid. Although I'm confused the youngest Hennessi is rumored to be a hard headed mischievous rascal, that ran away and became a mercenary. She looked innocent and she's gorgeous as well.

I stared at her too long, she arched an eyebrow at me. "What, is it your first time seeing a woman?", she smirked. I was impressed when she landed on her feet when the tree was very tall. "Huh, I just didn't expect that the rumored rouge Hennessi was....a woman" Instead of being offended she playfully smiled. Too wide for my liking. "Oh, a rouge now? That's interesting. Since you seem to know my genealogy already I might as well introduce myself." She smirked, and held out her hand. " Hi, I'm Solis Sky Hennessi, i might as well say I'm the best of the Hennessis." Hull, I blinked multiple times, she is as arrogant as they said. "Oh what? It's true isn't it?"

"Huh, crazy girl? What are you doing here" a baritone voice said behind me. What there's another late enrollee? "Eyy pretty boy! Who would've thought!" Oh they know each other? I looked at the guy, and boy damn. He looked like a typical Lord, but he doesn't have an emblem. "You know each other?" I asked both of them, they looked at me.

"A brief meeting, as one might say." the guy said while narrowing his eyes at the Hennessi girl. "So we are the three late enrollees?" he asked looking at the both of us. I opened my mouth to answer but then the gates started to open. It was quite amazing you know. When you arrive at the gates the other side looks like a wide forest but when you stepped inside it was different. The guards motioned for us to get in and we quickly stepped inside, the gates closed quickly after that. The path was quite long, since there were only 3 of us, a carriage was arranged to send us directly to the office of the school president.

The academy was rumored to be the size as big as a typical city, and my were they wrong. It looked like the size of the capital, in my opinion of course! Wide open spaces for training, forests, lakes, parks, and of course the humungous academy buildings. My eyes felt like popping because of so many things to see. " This place is huge, for a school that is" the guy said with awe. He was right, it looks more like a fortress or a palace.

We were admiring the view when the carriage stopped. I breathed deeply and stepped outside. The building was grand, teachers and staffs were running around. "Well hello dear new students." the middle age man must be the president, he looked regal and poised. No doubt, a royal. " I'm Valencia Sardomis Siccario, the academy president. Have a seat." We took a seat in front of his table and he began to talk. I really hate listening to people talking for long periods of time. I just braced myself.
