CHAPTER SIX: GILLIAN

Zehan's POV

"My Lady, are you sure of this, you could get caught. You'll be locked in forever if you do." my maid Ali said as she helped me pack up. It was the night of my 17th birthday and I heard my parents talking. I'm so mad at them. How could they do this to me, to deprive me of my right? The are so single minded. Today was supposed to be my coming of age and I've received the blessing of the great guardian. Fire.

Instead of sending me to the academy like my siblings they wanted to send me off to some Lord like I'm some sort of a gift. I teared up as I looked at the moon. I've always wanted to go to the academy. I grew up listening to my siblings talk about it, it was a dream. My parent's never let me out. They said only after I turn 17 then I would be allowed. But no, they were planning to marry me to some bloke I've never met.

My siblings were not home since they had a mission. My older brothers would never agree to this, I can't believe they would do this to me. I was horrified, so now I'm packing up to leave. It was the only way to escape my parents and this damned arranged marriage. They could never touch me if i enter the academy, I'm sure of it.

"Ali, please i beg you not to tell my parents, go to your room and sleep already, here drink this now it would make your stomach upset but for only a few hours. They won't suspect a thing if you were sick. You are my most trusted friend, you are going to be the first suspect and they will do everything to bring me back. Please lie if you must, convince them that you did not know a thing. I knew I shouldn't have told you my plan but my gut is telling me I should at least tell someone, if anything happens to me." my eyes already feel hot. Ali also sobbed, "Oh my lady, I just wish it didn't end up like this. I wish your parents understood you more. Please keep yourself safe. I'm happy you told me at least then I would not worry too much. Don't worry my lady I'll be fine, please send a letter after you reach the academy."

We told our goodbyes and I slipped into the night. It was easy going over the walls. I may not know combat or anything but I was flexible and nimble. Thank goodness my brothers forced me to exercise every morning.

It was hard to see at night but since I memorized our province's map, I easily navigated the way to the village. It was dawn when I arrived, I hired a private carriage to take me to the capital. It was only a few hours of riding. Nobody knew my face, no one knew I was a Gillian. It was a good thing.

Two hours in and I heard a distant noise. Was it my family? No, it would be impossible, we've passed the boundary we are in the outskirts of the capital province. They weren't that fast. My heart beat was erratic. This is bad. Wait! What if it was bandits? I could never reach the capital without any money. I looked outside the carriage, it suddenly stopped. No. No no

Several men in dark grey clothes surrounded the carriage. "AHHH" No! That was the driver. The door was forced open and I screamed. I don't have anything to defend myself! A man looked like my age forced me out and I was kneeling as I looked at the men around me. My heart beat was erratic. My eyes were stinging, I was so stupid not to bring at least a dagger. But then again, I didn't know how to use any weapon at all. "Please don't hurt us" I pleaded with them, they laughed. One of them reached my chin and forced me to look up. "Oooh, look what we have here. What's a little beauty like you alone and going to the capital, eh? HAHAHAHA, instead why don't you come with me and be my plaything eh? You would be very happy, hahahahaha!!" they laughed again, Oh my guardian I beg you please help me. I could not use my attribute yet, it was impossible to outrun them as well. I cried and begged them not to take me, I even offered to give them my money. It was futile, and I closed my eyes as I asked my parents for forgiveness. I should have just confronted them about it. WHY DID I THOUGHT OF RUNNING AWAY!!

"What a bunch of cowards. Really? First you assault an old couple then now a young girl? You must be really WEAK to result to this." a female voice said. Oh my gosh, someone is here. I looked around, the men around me started shifting and trying to find the source of the voice. "Who goes there? Where are you?" must be the leader that shouted that, he looked the biggest of all of them.

An arrow flew just in front of the man that shouted. They stepped backward. Suddenly the woman jumped down. She was impressive. She ifted her bow and tilted her head. "You better scatter before I put a hole into the lot of you." the men who were frozen for a few seconds ran and even let go of the poor driver, Thank goodness he was not harmed. I looked at the woman in front of me, she looked my age. Blue hair? She wore a mask that covers half her face. She stepped forward. "Are you okay?" she talked first as I was still rooted to the ground. "I-im alright, oh my gosh thank you. You saved us!" I could not see it clearly but I saw her eyes smile for a second. She has pretty eyes that's for sure.

"Your welcome, you should not have gone this early towards the capital. Bandits tend to hang around the boundaries as it is isolated. By the way you look young, are you to enter the academy?" my she is sharp. " Yeah, don't ask to why I'm alone though. I really am grateful that you came to ur rescue." "Yeah, now you seem like you have never stepped in the capital, word of advice, immediately go to the academy's enrollment center. Getting robbed in broad daylight is quite common, and you look young and easy. Don't worry about something like this happening again, the academy will personally take you to the campus." I mentally noted her advice. Wow, I'm soo lucky. I bowed to her and even tried to convince her to come with me but she had duties to attend to. We bid goodbye and I left to the capital. I wish to be as strong as her someday. OH! I forgot to ask her name!! I slapped myself again because of foolishness.

PRESENT

It has been two years since I left home, i never found out the identity of that woman but I'm sure bound to meet her again in the future. My parents were furious that I left even asked to pull me out but since I signed a form to stay until I became a worthy Reneian to defend the kingdom.

"Zehan! Come, I heard we have new students again!" Saph screamed at me. "Oh come on , there are always new students. What are you so excited about huh?" she squealed in delight. "No no no no not just ordinary students, they are actually our age but i heard 2 of them were legends in the combat world, the other one a natural born genius. Can you believe it? We are meeting legends Zee!!" huh? legends? that so?

We stepped outside to see a lot of people running towards the gates. I stopped at my tracks, what in the world?! B-b-blue h-air??
