Saphire POV
"SAPHIRE?!! COME HERE THIS INSTANCE!!" oh no.....what did I forget? It could not.....oh my gosh, of all things, I forgot to water the flowers at the tulip garden! "In a moment!" I yelled back while I ran through the long hallway, down the stairs and into the living room; which I think is where my step-mother is, fuming right now.
I calmed my breathing before I entered and with a smile I entered the room. There she was, my step-mother in all her glory, sitting in one of the couches; her eyes fuming and her mouth in an angry frown. I avoided her angry gaze, " Why, hello mother what is the matter?" while I fiddle at my clothes not looking up at her.
"The matter is, why are my flowers dying?!Hmm?" she asked with an eyebrow raised at me. I swallowed, and answered her while still fidgeting at my fingers. "Umm....well....I- I was umm...doing something thus i forgot to flower the tulips but do not worry mother, I will water them now" I stood and walk out fast, while avoiding her eyes. "Wait Saph-" i walked out and silently danced as I just avoided a long lecture.
I immediately ran out and went to the tulip garden. Mother loves her flowers, and all her children including me was assigned to take care of her flowers. There were 7 gardens and instead of servants she assigned 7 of us each garden. I was assigned to the tulip garden. It's a wonderful place, 3 willow trees in the wide grassy lawn, and different coloured tulips swaying in the rthym of the wind. I took the watering can and decided to water them all and then proceed to sleep.
"Ehem!?" Who is that? It seemed similar, but nah sleeping is better. "BLUE!" The voice was louder and someone is shaking me. I opened my eyes and saw a pink figure looking down on me? "Oh my Gosh are you an angel? Am I in heaven?" I drowsily asked the figure as I failed to move my body. " Ugghhh.....you little kid, do you know what time it is?! It's dinnertime, and I've been looking for you for the past hour! ". " Wait, Lilly? You're not an angel" I said as I still process the words that came out of her mouth. "Wait what, dinner?! ", I stood up and looked at the surrounding. Oh my gosh i knew I was drowsy but I di not expact to sleep that long.
" Why you little kid! Ughh....you're lucky Cyan is not home otherwise he would have punished you for disappearing. Now come mom and Violet are waiting." My family is too caring. I'm lucky they were, otherwise I would have been tossed to the side of the road.
*At Dinner*
We were all eating quietly, when mom realized that i'm turning seventeen this month. "Sapphire dear, you should know by now that your birthday is arriving and soon, the blessing of Renuire is upon you." she looked concerned with a little fear? Her eyes wandered to the table avoiding mine. What was it?
"Umm...yeah, I'm exited." I tried to lighten the mood but my older sisters were avoiding my gaze also. Okay....that was weird and unusual. Why did they look afraid? I shaked those thoughts and talked about the gardens. I've been taking care of all the gardens since all my siblings went to the academy. My older sisters Lilly and Violet were on vacation after an exhausting mission.
I'm exited to attend , my family is overprotective and very affectionate if you ask me. I've never been anywhere. They wanted me to stay here forever ,and I understand them. I was poisoned the first time I went out and ever since then i was never allowed to go out. Eventhough I was illegitemate I'm very happy to have ended up with a family like this.
*Sapphire's Birthday evening*
This day was awesome, all my siblings came home and we celebrated all day. It was exhausting but I really enjoyed it. Lots of food, games, endless talks, and laughs. I'm exited, this day was time for Renuire's blessing to awaken. I really hope the guardian's blessing would be awesome like my siblings.
"You've grown up too fast little sister, it felt like it was only yesterday you were in a bundle still so small and cute.*sigh*"
"Aiyaa, Red you should really stop being too lame to little Blue here, you'll embarass her in the academy." Cyan my older brother and Red were of course teasing each other again.
"Oh really? At least I did not fret about every little thing that would cause little Blue to feel uncomfortable, when she was still little. I mean not even letting bugs near her was fine but even leaves?" Red teased him back. Yeah, my family frets about every little thing that happens to me. I smiled at what's in front of me, my family bonding and every one was happy. It feels nice.
Wait? Why does my tummy feel weird out of a sudden. I cluthed my stomach and felt like there was fire inside me, and it hurts. Felt like my insides were burning. I tried to hold on but the pain is too much that I lost balance and fell on the floor. Everyone was around me asking questions, but I could'nt understand anything. My vision is blurry and I felt like I was dying. I could only gasp for air as I pass out, while mother was holding me.
*Third Person POV*
How did a happy occasion like that ended up in a tragedy? The young Sapphire was confined in her room as healers and physicians were around her trying to decipher what was going in with her. She looked pale, her skin was rough and looked like there was a faint green color inside her veins if you look closely. Turns out with her turning of age, the poison that was dormant in her body awakened. She had the attribute of fire and her blessing was trying to fight the poison internally. Everyone had to wait, there was nothing they could do now. Her chances of living was high but she had to live with the poison. The only hope she has now is the mana from her blessing. " Her Fire is strong and as long as she doe'snt drain mana she will live." One of the healers said as she talked to Saph's parents. " What? How can that be? How can she live as a Reneian if she had to keep her attribute in check?" Amethyst; Saph's mother exclaimed as she was worried.
" Well as a healer and a former student from the Academy of Fire, and I hope that you understand my words. I highly suggest that she attend the academy. Eventhough you might be worried for her well-being but you know the capacity of the Academy. Her mana is weak and easily used up because of the poison, and the academy will help her. As of now it is the best choice you can do. Healing and mainly resting will not do her any good. She has to be strong in order to beat the poison. "
Sapph's parents were silent, they know that it is the only option they have now. The academy was their only hope in helping Sapphire. And with heavy hearts two weeks later, the family escorted Sapphire as she arrived at the academy's gates.
"I'll be fine mom, dad, my older siblings are going to be there to look after me anyway. Don't worry I'll not use my attribute too much." Sapphire said with a smile. As it was not a secret that there was something wrong with her, she was not kept in the dark anymore. Although they did not say who poisoned her she was determined this time to not worry her parents and her siblings. She was curious on who tried to kill her, and she couldn't find a clue. She was going to be obedient but she was determined to find the person behind all of this. Why was her family going to all extent on keeping her in the estate? Being overprotective was normal but this was off. Sapphire vowed to figure out this mystery and the first step was attending the academy. With all those thoughts Sapphire bid her goodbyes and went straight towards the academy's enormous gate.
