CHAPTER TWO: HENNESSI

Sky POV That guy must be new to the Capital, I hope he doesn't stay long or else he might get robbed in broad daylight. The capital may be safe and all, but that doesn't mean that criminals don't exist. That pretty boy! *sigh* I hope he comes out alive. I should regret that I gave him a thornlily as those were hard to grow but I could grow more. He needs it more than i do. What? He might get poisoned and the thornlily will be of great help to him. He will remember me forever! *maniacal laugh* Ehem i mean, come on.... the guy was really pretty especially those eyes. No *slaps herself* you should focus in going home and not think of some pretty boy you barely know! Hmp such a shame that I did not know his name. Oh well! I went to the south, to see my father of course. He had been writing annoying letters recently, telling me to come home. I am a travelling mercenary, I travel the kingdom and had been to Xenua too. Xenua was our neighbor, the Moon kingdom. After being away from my home, the South, for 3 months I'm finally back. I arrived at my house and saw that my dad was at his workplace as usual, he had metal attribute but he was a blacksmith. Such a shame, he would make a fine soldier if he wasn't so stubborn. "Dearest father your mercenary daughter had came back!!" "Aiya! What on- Solis, my daughter you're back! Why didn't you respond to any of my letters huh? I was worried something happened!" Haaaay, my father is too dramatic. I rolled my eyes, " Dad, don't you know the best response is something that is always unexpected?" I smiled at him while he just sighed at my antics. "Well, I'm happy that you're home. Come I'll cook something, are you hungry?" i nodded vigorously as I was starving. The last of the ration I had only lasted a day. The next few days were solemn, I was waiting for the admission letter from the academy. A day later, the letter came through a messenger owl. It read, ' Greetings from the Academy of Sun, by the power vested by the King you; Solis Sky Hennessi is hereby admitted to attend the Sun Academy. You are expected to go to be at the academy at the 24th day this month. ' Brief and direct i like it, my dad always nagged me to enter after I turn 18. I was blessed with the majic of healing mixed with an attribute of nature. I could grow any herb and or poison that I desire, and turn those to essence to be used along with my healing. Even though I could only heal poison and my abilities were limited, my majic was rare. It was very odd as well for a mercenary to have healing abilities instead of an elemental attribute. I never expected this and my father was shocked as well, since then I had been finding similar abilities but I could only find healers who could heal anything but poison. They said I was gifted but my ability was rare and so, they could only teach me how to harness energy to activate the healing prowess. It's very frustrating to be honest. I only learned to grow and brew herbs, although sometimes when I'm provoked, poisonous plants grow around me. When I received the blessing, plants started to grow around me so I figured that I had nature attribute but when I tried to grow a tree the tree died. I found a nature attributer down the west and he told me that I have an ability to grow herb and poison plants but that was it. I never figured out what was wrong with me but after a month of trying to find answers a healer who I saved from a bunch of bandits; told me that my blessing was healing or in my case poison healing . We had the same essence and she taught me a few things about healing. Essence is a flick of color when we're using our abilities and us healers have an essence of gold and brown flicker. *BOOM* I looked at the sky and I saw fire and smoke. "That came from my house!" I ran as I remembered that dad was home. NO, NO it can't be! My breathing is uneven as I dashed through the forest. Why did my father built his house in the woods anyway? I arrived at a heart stopping scene. My father was still inside! Who did this?! "DAD, WHERE ARE YOU?!" The house was in flames as I frantically tried to find my father. "DAD?! WHERE ARE YOU?!" I called again, i'm in the verge of tears. I saw someone at my father's smithing workplace. They had him! I ran towards the still intact shack as the person holding my father was shaking him and demanding something. "LET HIM GO! YOU ASSHOLE!" I was now holding both my swords as i jumped at him. He let go of my father who was now unconscious. "DAD!" I turned to the man, "YOU ASSHOLE WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM!? WHO ARE YOU!? WHAT DO YOU WANT!?HUH?!" The asshole only smirked at me, "So this is the famous mercenary who has poison abilities?" I was confused, how did he knew me? No one knows that I had that kind of ability and the people I know have no knowledge of me being able to inflict poison. Only dad knows. I was afraid, this man knows me, but what did he want? " How do you know me? What do you want!?" the man only tilted his head and smiled creepily at me. "My Lord needs people like you, if you don't want to get your father killed, come with me." I looked at my father, he was inflicted with poison and his heart was slowing down. It was futile even if I do go with him, he would still die. I was in tears but I faced the man and raised my sword at him. I will never let him get away with this, the soldiers will come any moment now i just know it. "You asshole you say you will let him live yet you had already inflicted him with poison!" "Huh...pity I thought you wouldn't notice, I guess everybody doesn't fall to the same tricks? I assume you won't come with me then?" Is he mad?! Has his mind gone nuts! Wait....everybody? I am livid! There were others!?....I didn't waste any time and lunged at him with force. I took him by surprise and I had managed to stab his shoulder. My sword was sharp but he had managed to move quickly so it was only a small gash. It was quite a fight, he fought with his fire attribute and because I can't use my attribute I fought him with my twin swords, while avoiding his fire balls. "You have so much potential but since i can't convince you i'll just leave you to die then" he smiled with malice and lunged at me. I can't keep on avoiding my moves are getting slower. The air is stuffy, he must have done something to the air. I may not be the best at sword fighting but my stamina was stronger than an average person. My vision is faltering.....I'm sorry dad I could not even save you....forgive this incompetent daughter then I blacked out. Third Person POV The girl with light blue hair, her clothes' sleeves were burned and she blacked out. The man in crimson red robes smiled as he thought of taking the girl with him. The girl had so much potential, it was a loss to not have her, but his boss' orders was to kill anyone who is unwilling. He only turned away but after a step or two, he heard a moving sound. In his surprise the girl was standing once more but something was wrong, golden brown markings were laced from her left arm up to her face and it stopped at her left eye, which was now gold; mismatched with her silver right eye. The girl seemed to be different and before he knew it the girl raised her arms and poisoned vines rose to the sky and to him. It was too shocking that when he tried to shield himself with his flames the vines were already around him. The poison was so strong that not even two seconds later his skin was melting. He was horrified but helpless because as he moved the vines kept on getting tighter. It was futile and as he screamed he saw the girl now a few feet away from him muttering some unknown words as she stared at him; emotionless. As the man died, the girl flicked her fingers and the vines along with the lifeless body went back to the soil. She once again went unconscious. A second later soldiers emerged from the forest and rushed to the burning house. They were shocked with what they saw, a girl was unconscious, her clothes were burned and they found a man which they assumed was the girl's father in the shack barely breathing. "Sky?" the young man commanding the group of soldiers recognized the girl as she was his friend's cousin. He confirmed his assumptions as he saw the familliar light blue hair along with twin swords beside her. Sky was alright, his father on the other hand was in danger as the poison had already spread in his blood. " Give this to my daughter and tell her that I love her" Sky's father said as he took his last breath handing the young man a majic storage necklace made with the finest platinum gold. The young man could not save Sky's father but at least she was okay. The place was in ashes but they managed to save half the house from burning and brought Sky to the evacuation site where the people affected from the unexpected fire was taken in. The young man commanding the group of soldiers from earlier who was called Caleb rushed to find Cloudine; Sky's cousin. They were from the academy on patrol, when they saw smoke coming from the village. " Cloudine! Quick, your cousin Sky is injured!" Cloudine was helping the others when she heard her cousin's name. "Solis is here? What about uncle?!" she rushed to Caleb's side as her eyes wandered to the crowd. " He was poisoned, the person who is responsible for this must've found your cousin's house down the woods, we don't know the reason why they were attacked when the other villagers were unharmed. " he explaned as he guided them towards Sky. As Cloudine saw her younger cousin, her tears welled up. Sky was covered in black ashes, her hair in disarray, the sleeves of her clothes burned and a couple of burnt holes were visible. The young girl's lips were pale and she looked like a corpse. " Can the girl fight?" the healer who was beside Sky, suddenly asked them. "Y-es, she is a fighter..." Cloudine asnwered softly, her eyes were red from crying. She felt like her heart broke in two; her cousin was injured and her uncle died. " I think the girl must've fought her way....her energy is drained and her pulse is weak. I could feel no energy flowing through her veins at the moment but she will recuperate. It will take her 2-4 days at the least to wake up. She had used to much majic thus her body shut down to focus in healing. I could only give her a headstart and lend her energy." Cloudine only cried more, she touched Sky's cold cheeks and she felt like hell. It was already two days yet her body seems to not improve. Cloudine buried her dead uncle near the house that he built. Caleb told her the final words her uncle managed to utter and gave her the necklace. After she put the necklace around Sky's neck, she was determined to care for her. She brought Sky to her family's house and vowed not to leave her side as she recovered. Her father was devastated to hear about his blood brother's passing and left off to the south to visit his grave. They were closer than any sibling will ever be; her father even cried at the sight of the house his little brother built. The house was very important in his heart and closed off the place so no one would dare enter. At the fourth day, Sky was conscious and could talk but could not still move thus she could only cry as her cousin explained everything that had happened. She was glad that her cousin was there, and even though her heart ached for her father's passing she could only cry in silence. A week had gone by and the 24th, the day that the Academy of Sun will open it's gates to the newest students. Sky vowed to find out who ordered the killing of his father and the deal but in order to do that she had to be stronger and thus she entered Sun Academy. Not remembering ever killing the man that dared to harm her and her family.
