Are we meant to be ?

Chapter two

When we reach the apartment building, the first thing I noticed was the cafe at the corner "Peter's Heart" , the cafe is not too big and not too small, perfect for relaxing on a sunny day. Peter saw me walking over to the cafe" That is my baby, my heart and also my cafe which you will be working at." Peter was unloading the luggage and Sarah helped him. "So this is the cafe you guys been telling me about."

Few months ago, when i decided to study overseas, I applied everything and was thinking whether I should live off campus or in the campus dorm. I had a hard time convincing my parents that I'm capable of taking care of myself and beg them to let me get my own apartment. I went online and saw this ad that was looking for a people to rent their one bedroom apartment. I fell in love with it immediately when I saw the pictures of the apartment, it was so charming and it has that character that I'm looking for. I straight away contact them and started to negotiate the monthly rent. I told them I can't afford the price they were asking so we came up with a plan, I will work for their cafe for free when I don't have class and in return they will reduce the rent.

I couldn't be more grateful to both of them. "Come on, let's go up and see your new place." Sarah pointing at the stairs beside the cafe. Peter was already upstairs with my luggage. The cafe is on the ground floor, the apartment is on the first floor and the top floor is a roof top. The staircase was not as wide as I though but still have room for one person to move around. From the bottom of the staircase to the top, all the walls are made with bricks. When I reach the the apartment, I see a white door with a copper colored doorknob. When I walked in, the first thing I saw was the walls, it was covered with bricks that still have the original dark red color. I touch the walls "Yea, I love the walls too, gave this apartment a strong structure feeling." said Sarah while hugging Peter's shoulder.

"Everything you need are here, the bed is new, the kitchen are mostly new because we usually cook in the cafe, the bathroom is renovated and we repainted the bedroom." I walk around the apartment feeling like a little kid just went into a world of candies and sweets. I just love everything about it especially the big windows that shinning natural light into the living room. "Thank you so much you guys, I promise to take good care of this apartment and pay my rent on time." I said and run to hug both of them. Sarah and Peter was looking for someone to rent their old apartment because they got a new place with more space so that they could have kids after they get married. "We should let you settle in, please do let us know if you need anything, we will come by tomorrow and take you around town" Peter holding Sarah hands and guiding her to the door. "Thank you again guys, I see you tomorrow." I went downstairs with them and see them off. I went back upstairs and start unpacking while admiring my new place and new life.

I woke up around seven in the morning and got ready. Sarah and Peter was downstairs waiting for me in the cafe. I went downstairs and along the way, I smell the strong coffee aroma coming from the cafe. I see some customer in the cafe lining up to get their order. I saw Sarah waving at me and asking me to go over there. The table was filled with delicious food and perfectly made coffee. "Come, eat. I made my famous cheese omelet." Sarah gesturing me to eat and giving me the best smile. "Thank you, you shouldn't have gone through all this trouble." I started eating and never in my life I had a omelet that was cook to perfection. Some are too runny, and some are too dry. "This is the best omelet I ever tasted." "Aw, you're just saying that but thank you. Enjoy yourself, I'll go help Peter in the kitchen." Sarah went into the kitchen and I continue to eat my breakfast.

I enjoyed the breakfast and I was waiting for Sarah and Peter to show me around town. I ask them to show me the nearest place that I can shop for groceries and household item without having to drive. Along the way to the nearest grocery store, I saw some bookstores, little gift shops, few boutiques that sells clothing and a very lovely flower shop. I took the liberty to take some pictures because I couldn't resist. I was about to send it to my friends and to know that I haven't called my parents that I have landed. I thank Sarah and Peter for showing me around and I ran home to call my parents.

The call lasted for a good hour. Mom and dad were so worried but they understand that I must be overwhelm by everything and twenty hour flight was tiring so I forgot to call them. I continue to unpack the other stuff and my day just went by like that. The apartment looks a lot of comfortable and homey. I sat down on the sofa and look out of the window. I was deciding whether to cook or order take out, and I decided to cook. I walk to the grocery store and bought some ingredients to make a simple meal. After I finish my dinner and clean the dishes, I went to get a shower and I pack my bag for tomorrow's class.

The next morning I woke up around seven, I got ready and went down to the cafe. My class is not starting till the 1:30 in the afternoon so I thought I would help out in the cafe. Everything was quite easy to do and learn but the only thing that I really need to learn is how to use the coffee machine. Sarah promise to teach me next time when the cafe is not as busy. When I was about to head out, I got myself a cup of ice latte, I walk out of the cafe and accidentally bump into the guy that was walking into the cafe. s**t was just flying everywhere. The coffee was all over my shirt and I fell on the floor when I was about to stand up and see who did I dump into, the guy offered his hand and pull me up from the floor. His eyes were a perfect spring sky, his mind clear and his smile warmer than the gentle sun.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there." I was looking at his lips moving but I didn't know what he was talking about. "Are you okay?" He waved at me and I came back to earth."Yea, I'm fine. I'm the one should be sorry. I ruined your suit." I brush my self off and got napkins and was about to give it to him."Is fine. Don't worry about me, you should change or something... your shirt is kinda see through..." I look at my shirt and I can see my black colored bra peeking through my white shirt. I quickly covered myself and ran upstairs.

When I came back down to the cafe, the guy was gone, the cafe floor was cleaned. "Are you okay? Jerry told me you dump into a guy and coffee went everywhere." Sarah looked worried and was patting my head. "I'm fine. Just that I can't believe this is my second day in this town and I already may a fool of myself. That was so embarrassing!" I covered my face and feeling like needed to look for a hole and jump into it and never come out."He even saw my bra." Sarah look shocked and started to laughed."Stop laughing, is bad enough that I dump into the guy and ruined his expensive looking suit, he even saw my freaking bra!" Sarah came to hug me and still laughing "Is okay, at least you have something for people to see. You have amazing looking breast and is not like you going to see him again." Sarah pat my back "Now go to class, you wouldn't want to be late on your first day.

Not thinking about what happened.I took the bus to campus. When I reach the campus, everyone seem so professional and smart. I took out my phone and check the email that the administrative department send me. They say to see them in the office and get some stuff signed. While I was walking to the office, I took the chance to look around campus. The campus was huge and the buildings are half new and half old. Some people are sitting on the grass, some people are sitting on the stairs and some just standing while talking to their friends.

I heard a loud thud sound coming from behind, I turn back and saw this guy fell onto the ground and all his notes scattered everywhere. When I was about to bend down to help him up, his was trying to get up himself and his head hits my nose so hard, I feel like my nose is bleeding. "s**t! Can today get any worst!" I hear him shout. "Just now my suit and now this!" He stop shouting and saw me sitting on the floor and covering my nose. I didn't notice who he was until he bend down and check whether I'm okay or not. "Oh my god, are you okay? I think my head something when I was trying to stand up. Let me see your nose." I was stunned when I was the same guy that I bump into this morning. I covered my nose so tight and just started to shaking my head "No. I'm fine. Don't worry about it." I was trying to stand up but he wouldn't let me go "I just want to make sure your nose is not bleeding. So let me check and see." I forcefully push his hand away and ran off.

How can bad things happened to me with the same person in the same day twice. I was so embarrassed and was about run to the restroom but accidentally dump into a person. Not again I thought to myself. "Where are you hurrying to?" I saw a lady with dark blonde hair that was tied up in a huge bun with those same blue eyes that I seen before somewhere but didn't know where. "I'm sorry. I need to find the restroom" I mumble. "Young lady, please speak properly and why are you covering your nose?" She pulled my hand away and saw that my nose was bleeding and my nose was all red and purple in color. "What happened to you? Come with me." I cover back my nose and she took me o her office.

She help me clean my nose in her private restroom and let me rest in her office. "What's your name young lady? I don't think I ever seen you before." Do you really know every single student in this campus I thought to myself. "I'm Scarlett. Scarlett Jefferson. I just started today." She look into her computer "Oh, you're Scarlett. I was expecting you today." She took out some forms from her file cabinet and ask me to sit on one of those chair that was in front of her desk. "I know you must still be hurting but I need you to sign this and you may start you class..." She was about to finish her sentence when someone barged into the office.

"Mother, you won't believe what happened to me today. I was..." He stopped and his eyes met mine. I saw those beautiful blue eyes again and this was the third time today. "What did I tell you about calling me mother in this campus" He came in front of me and look into my eyes. "How are you? You did have a nose bleed. I was looking everywhere for you." I just stared at him. "What is this all about? How you two know each other?" Said the lady which I found out later on that she was the principle of the university and the guy I kept bumping into was she son. I was still staring at him and suddenly the principle clear her throat. "Miss Jefferson, can you please finish signing those papers and go to your class?" I was force to look away and start signing those papers.

I walk out from the principle's office "Make sure you get your books from the library and if you have any problems you may come to see me in the office. Have a nice day, Miss Jefferson." The principle smiled at me and turn around to close the door. The last thing I saw was those beautiful eyes before the door was closed.

I wen to the library and got my books, luckily the campus was well built and also the direction on the maps that was hanging on every corner of the wall was not hard to understand. I was standing outside the lecturer hall and was too nervous to go in because I don't know anyone and worried that I won't be able to fit in. I took a deep breath and just walk into the hall. Everyone was looking at me like I'm some kind of alien. Some smiled at me and some just didn't bothered to care. I found a seat near the back and I sat down.

I was looking around the girl in front turned around "Hey, I'm Grace. You're new here ?" She smiled at me and came to sit beside me. "Yea, I'm new here... I'm Scarlett." Grace took out her hand, I shook her hand" So, who is this Professor Maverick guy?" I asked while getting out my notebook. "He's basically going to teach us on all the subjects relating interior designing, building structures and history and stuff." I run through the textbook while Grace explain it to me."But our professor went to a seminar for a few weeks and a hot substitute Mr.Caleb Wallace and a few other lecturers from different departments will be teaching us until our professor comes back from his seminar."

In the corner of my eye I saw two guys coming over to my seat "Hey, new girls. I'm Nathan and this is Kyle." Nathan was the one with green eyes and dark brown hair, quite tall and good looking. Kyle has this cold grey eyes that seems kind lonely to me but both of them smiled at me. "Hi, I'm ..." I was about to tell them my name but "Mr.Jones and Mr. Davidson, please go back to your seats and stop flirting with the female students." I gave them a soft smile "We'll talk after class." Nathan said and they both went back to their seat. "Mr.Wallace, I'm not flirting, I was just introducing myself to the new girl." Everyone was looking at me again.

"A new girl?"The substitute said. I look up and met with those beautiful blue eyes again.
