Chapter five - Is it him?

2693 Words
Cassie's POV: More than a week ago, I took a book from the library. It was a good one, but useless. Nothing of this helped me find the person. I still wonder if the rumor that Abby told me is true. Maybe this book exists. The question is where to find it. Granny said she created it, but I feel she lied to me. For some reason, she doesn't want to tell me anything about it. I can ask my auntie Kim. The thing is that I'm afraid I won't have any results. I can't understand why this book is so important. Probably there is something else in it. Not only everything you need to know about your power but maybe how to use it too. Well, I know some things. They are from my granny. Now I can use my power and help people. It's not like I will always do it. The fact that I can see people's aura is a blessing, and I shouldn't play with it. I should focus on school. I should get ready for the new school year. Let's hope that I can find the person faster. I want him to be in school because it will be easier for me. Also, I don't want it because I can't reveal my secret. Otherwise, the same will happen again. I don't want to get used. There is a chance this year will be different. I can get my first boyfriend. Well, I don't have time for this. First, I need to find him. Then comes everything else. I have no problem with that, but I don't want to get distracted. Honestly, I'm not excited about this. I still haven't thought about what I will tell this person. I will tell the truth, but it can't be directly. Also, it sounds ridiculous. If I haven't seen it, I won't believe it. Things are getting complicated. I don't want to spend my whole life searching for someone. After all, I am a teenager. I want to enjoy my life even a little bit. I hope I will find him. That way, I can get over this. Today is my first day in my new school. Let's hope that everything will end well. I am always nervous when the new school year comes. I might know everyone, but keeping a secret like mine isn't easy. Also, I don't know who my friend is anymore. Last year so many things happened that I started doubting myself. Maybe the problem was in me. I never tried to hurt anyone, but I probably did it. I will move on from the past. Otherwise, I will get stuck in it, and I don't want that. I woke up and went to get ready. Granny said she would come. I know why she will be here. I can deal with this. Well, I'm glad she's by my side. Let's hope mom won't get mad about this. When I was ready, I walked downstairs for breakfast. Even my auntie Kim was here. Please help me. Maybe mom went to work early. At least, that's what I'm hoping. I walked to the kitchen and saw her putting the food on the table. Without saying anything, I sat down next to dad. I know he doesn't mind when we talk about this. - Good morning. - To you too. How do you feel? - my auntie asked - I'm good. Maybe a bit tired. It's too early. - You will get used to this. - Are you ready for you know what? - granny asked - Yes, I am. I don't know if I will have any luck, but I should try. - Your boy is waiting for you. - Granny, I don't know if it's a boy. - But I do. - How? - Instinct. - Yeah, right. - Mom, leave Cassie to eat. I don't want her to be late, thanks to you. - mom said - This might change her life. - granny said - But it's not like school. - I won't be so sure. - Ok, don't argue. I want a peaceful breakfast. Luckily, they dropped it. I don't want to be here when granny and mom argue about my power. Mom doesn't have it and acts differently sometimes. The good news is that I have to go to school. That way, I won't be here to listen to them. After breakfast, I took my backpack and left. The school is a little bit far away from home, but that way is better. I don't mind walking. I have been thinking about everything that happened at my last school during my walk. I didn't want to change it, but I had no choice. Soon, I arrived. It will be my home for this year. I walked in and felt different energy. That was until a strong aura hit me. I quickly looked around to see from where it came. So many people were in the hall, but my eyes landed on a boy. Is it him? Did I find the person? I'm not sure, but this boy has a powerful aura. I have never met anyone with the same. - You are staring. - What? - It's ok. Many girls like him. - one girl said - Oh, it's not what you think. - Are you sure? - Yes, I am. Who are you? - I'm Chelsea. - Hi, I'm Cassie. Who is this? - I asked, and she chuckled - That is Ben. - He is taken, isn't he? - Yes. How do you know? - Well, there is a girl next to him. Also, she is holding his hand. I don't think he will let a friend do it. - You have good vision. That is his girlfriend, Ashley. She is one of the people I don't like. - Why? - She is weird. He is too nice for her. - Did something happen? - No, or at least I don't know about it. - Oh, ok. Look, I have to go now. - No problem. - See you later. - I said and left I have to understand who this boy is. Well, I know how to do it. Someone needs to tell me where the principal's office is. That person will be Ben. There is no other way how I can get close to him. His girlfriend won't help me. All I want is to get close to his aura. If he is my person, we need to talk. It won't be at school, for sure. I took a deep breath and walked up to him. - Hi, I am Cassie. - Hey, Cassie. I am Ben. - What do you want? - Ashley asked - Can one of you tell me where the principal's office is? - Yes, sure. Go to the end of the hall, and then turn left. You will see a door on which it says the word principal. Will you find it? - I think so. Thanks. - You're welcome. I have never seen anything like this before. Ben's aura is unique. I don't know if he is my person, but he has some power. The thing is that he doesn't know it. For now, I won't tell him anything. If I find a way to touch him, I will understand everything. On the lunch break, I went to exchange my books. I saw Ben alone in the hall. He seems like a nice boy, which means I can do the classic trick. On purpose, I dropped some books. I am sure he will come to help me. Luckily, his girlfriend is not here. I don't want her to think I am trying to steal her boy. - Here you go. - Thank you. - I said and slightly touched Ben's hand It was a mistake. I felt pain and quickly removed my hand. That's when I saw it got burned. How the heck did it happen? I only touched him. I need to talk with granny or Beth after school. - Are you ok? - Ben asked - Yes, I am. Why don't you go to eat? - I will. Won't you come? - I need to call someone. - Oh, ok. See you later. - Ben said and left I looked closely at the burned spot. There was something different. I have burned my hand before. Well, mostly when I was cooking. It might be deep in my skin. At least it doesn't hurt me anymore. Only when we touched. I don't understand what is going on. First, it was his strong aura. Now this spot on my skin. How can I hide it? The bigger question is if I can explain this to my mom. I'm sure she won't believe me. I should probably talk with Ben as well. The problem is that I don't know what to tell him. I can play the role of the new student. Technically, I am, but that is not an excuse. After my last class, I walked to my locker. I decided to wait for Ben. I won't talk to him now. The thing is that I want to feel his aura again. How can one teenage boy have such a strong aura? I don't understand. Soon he came with his girlfriend. I felt my aura shivering. This boy has power, but he doesn't know it yet. I waited for his girlfriend to go away and walked up to him. - Hey. - Oh, hey. Cassie, right? - Yes. - Can I help you? - No, I only wanted to thank you for the help. - I didn't do anything. - You told me where the principal's office was. - Oh, yeah. I forgot. - Ben said, chuckling - Well, thank you. - You're welcome. Um, did you burn yourself? - What? - I noticed the burned spot on your hand. I think you should put on some cream. - Yeah. I tried to cook something and touched the pan while it was hot. - You should be careful. - I know. Thank you for the advice. - Why did you change schools? By your question in the morning, I understood you were new. - I had some problems with my ex-best friends. - I'm sorry to hear that. - It's ok. I am over it. - Good for you. Look, I have to go now. We can go for a short walk if you want. - I would love that, but won't your girlfriend get mad? - She has plans with her friends. Also, I am allowed to go out with whomever I want. The same is for her. - It looks like you have the perfect relationship. - For now, that's what it looks like to me. - If you knew your auras were incompatible. - I mumbled to myself - Did you say something? - No, I was talking to myself. Bad habit. - Sometimes, I do it too. - Really? - Doesn't everyone do it? - I don't know about everyone. - You will like our school. It's not the best, but you can make new friends here. - I hope so. Being alone is boring. - I have to agree here. My girlfriend said she would make a party for the new school year. You should come. - Parties are not my thing, but I will think about that. - I don't like them much, but I like spending time with her. - She is a lucky girl. - I think I'm the lucky one. - Maybe both of you are. - I have to go now, but we'll see each other tomorrow at school. - Yeah, sure. It was a nice walk. - I liked it too. Bye, Cassie. - Bye, Ben. - I said, and he left I quickly ran up to my granny's house. She needs to tell me what is going on. Also, I need to hide the burned spot from mom. I'm sure she won't like it. When I arrived, I knocked on the door. To my surprise, auntie Kim opened it. She let me in, and we went into the kitchen. Granny was drinking coffee. - Hello, dear. How was the first day of school? - Crazy. I need to talk with you. - Ok, what is going on? - I think I found him. - What? - You were right. It's a boy. - I told you. Your granny is never wrong. Now tell me everything. - I immediately felt a different energy when I walked into the school. There were many auras, but one of them was specific. It was close to mine. That's why I looked around and found from who it was coming. It was a boy named Ben. I had to be sure it was, so I went to talk. It was only for a minute. The boy has a girlfriend. - Oh, I'm sorry. - Let me finish. So, I couldn't talk with Ben much. That's why I waited for the lunch break. When he came, I pulled the classic trick. He was nice to me in the morning, and I was sure he would help me. I dropped some books on purpose. He came to help me and gave me one of them. I took it, making sure we touched. Then a bad thing happened. - What was it? - This. - I said and showed my hand - What happened? - my auntie asked - I don't know. When we touched, it burned my skin. I have no idea how it happened. The weirdest thing is that it doesn't hurt. I mean, only when we had contact. How am I supposed to hide this from mom? She will kill me. - I will take care of your mom. - granny said - First, we need to figure out what happened. - my auntie said - Does this mean whenever we touch, my skin will get burned? - I don't know. I think we have to talk with Beth. She can help you. - granny said - Can we go now? I have schoolwork to do. - Sure. Let's go. All of us went to see Beth. She told us that my burned skin was a result of our auras. So, since Ben's aura is unstable, he doesn't know what he is doing. Well, the boy has never used it. I believe he doesn't even know about it. To say it shortly, my skin will get burned until he doesn't find a way to control his aura. Luckily, Beth gave me a spray bottle with something in it. I have no idea what it is, but it works. I put a bit of it on my burned spot, and it immediately disappeared. Later, we went back to my granny's house. - I never thought this could happen. - my auntie said - At least we have a solution. - I said - You have to be careful with this boy. He doesn't control his aura. That might be dangerous for you. - Granny, Ben is good to me. I can't stay away. Also, I have to keep an eye on him. - I know, but be careful, ok? - You can count on me. I talked with granny and auntie Kim for a while. Later, I went home to do my schoolwork. Luckily, my burned spot is gone. I don't know how mom would've reacted. I have no idea what to do with Ben. He has so much power but doesn't even know it. For now, it's good. All I have to do is watch out for him. Otherwise, he might hurt himself and someone else. It's better if I keep this a secret for some time. The new school year has started. I don't want to stress him. Also, I'm not sure if he will believe me. I need to prepare myself. It will take me time to convince him. I hope that Ben won't find out about his power. That way, I can help him.
