Cassie's POV:
The new school year has already started. I have to say that there is no difference. Maybe the only thing is that no one knows about my power. For now, that is better. That way, I can use it to help Ben. His aura is so strong, but he doesn't control it. Luckily, I know what to do. During the weekend, he saw me in a small restaurant. Honestly, I was there on purpose. I expected to see him somewhere in this area. I recognized his aura and used mine to see where he was. When he was close, I felt it. Of course, I had to act like this was a coincidence. Otherwise, he might decide I am stalking him. Ben invited me for a walk, and I knew I had to accept. That was a golden chance. The only thing is that we couldn't touch because I didn't know how I would explain this. He might believe the lie with my burned hand, but this is different. Ben is a nice guy. I think he deserves a better girlfriend. I don't know Ashley well, but from what I hear in school, she is not a princess. I mean, not many people like her. Maybe she has done something. Also, she wasn't with him on the weekend. That is the time you have to spend with your boyfriend. I don't know why she left him. I shouldn't mess with this, but I am curious. If I had a boyfriend, I would've spent all my time with him. I mean, at least in the beginning. It was good that she wasn't with us. I have the feeling she doesn't like me. Ashley can calm down. I don't want to steal her boy, but only to help him. One day I have to tell him the truth, but I don't know when. First, I have to make sure he trusts me. That is the hardest thing ever. Once I do it, I can tell him whatever I want. Well, I won't use Ben. What he will do with his power is not my problem. I hope that he will believe me.
It's Friday. Ashley is having a party tonight. I'm not sure if I have to go. I have nothing against her, but parties are something I avoid. Also, if I drink, my aura gets weird. I mean, I can't use it properly. Maybe I have to go and keep an eye on Ben. As I see, nothing that bad has happened to him. I am worrying too much. Granny can help me with my decision. I have been to parties before, but I never drank anything. The other side of the coin is if I go, Ashley might think I want her boyfriend. I have to be careful with her. Her aura is unstable, no matter that she doesn't know it.
Currently, I have a lunch break. I wanted to go to eat, but later I changed my mind. Ashley was with her girls and Ben. Soon the boys joined them. It's better if I watch far away. Well, my target is Ben. He is the one I have to keep safe. Of course, if someone else is hurt, I will help. After all, I am not a monster. I was reading a book when I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was Ben.
- Hey.
- Hi. I thought you were with your friends.
- Yes, but I want to be alone for some time.
- Then why are you here? - I asked, chuckling
- I saw you sitting here alone. Won't you eat?
- I'm not hungry. Let's say that I ate too much for breakfast.
- If you say so. Are you coming to the party tonight?
- I don't know.
- Hey, I will be there. You don't have to drink.
- I will think about it.
- Ok, it's your choice.
After school, I went to granny's house. Luckily, she was there. I don't want to always be around Ben, but I should do it. Both with granny walked to the kitchen. She cut me a piece of cake. It looks so good.
- That is delicious. - I said as I took a bite
- I'm glad that you like it, dear.
- I have a question.
- What is it?
- Tonight there is a party. I don't want to go, but I feel that I have to.
- What is the question?
- Should I go?
- Do what you want. Why do you ask me?
- Ben will be there. You know alcohol affects the aura. I have to keep an eye on him.
- Tell him not to drink.
- Ben is not drinking. I mean, not alcohol. The thing is that something might happen.
- Look, the boy has no idea that he has power. As you can see, nothing happened to him.
- So I can stay at home.
- Yes.
- Thank you. I don't want to be his babysitter.
- Well, you have to go.
- Why?
- To have fun. One day you will be my age, and teenagers won't invite you to their parties.
- I will be blessed to live so long.
- Hey, don't talk like that.
- Look, I don't want to go. The thing is that Ben asked me ten thousand times.
- Didn't he have a girlfriend?
- He does, but as I see it, they are not close.
- Go and keep an eye on him. Maybe someone else will need you.
- Ok, the babysitter will go.
- Good girl.
- Can I have more cake?
- Sure. Here you go.
- Thanks, granny.
I stayed with granny until it was time for the party. She wanted to help me with my homework. I appreciate it, but she can't do it. That is my work. Later, I went home to take a shower and get changed. Of course, I told my parents where I would be. Both of them were surprised but didn't tell me anything. If I tell them the reason, mom will get mad. When I walked to the house, it was already full. I don't know where Ashley lives. That's why I used Ben's aura. After all, he said he would come. I saw him on the couch with his girlfriend. I waved at him slightly. It's better if Ashley doesn't see me.
- Hey, you are here.
- Oh, hi, Chelsea.
- How are you feeling in our school?
- I'm good. I thought that you didn't like Ashley.
- I don't, but it's a party. I won't miss it.
- She looks like the rest. - I said, looking at her
- There is something wrong with her. I feel it.
- Really?
- Yes. The way she acts around Ben. This girl is hiding something. Sadly, her boyfriend is too blind to see it.
- Maybe he doesn't want to see it.
- It's possible. I'm going to the boys over there. Do you want to come?
- I'll do it later, thanks.
I looked up, but Ashley was gone. Can Chelsea be right? No, I don't think so. Why will Ashley hurt Ben? While she is gone, I can use the chance to talk with her boyfriend. I'm sure he won't mind.
- Hello.
- Hey. I'm glad that you came.
- Really?
- Yes. Since you don't drink, we can talk. The conversations with drunk people are not good.
- True. Where is Ashley?
- She went to talk with some people.
- So, she left you alone.
- Hey, Ashley will be back.
- I hope so.
- Why?
- Look how many girls are here. You are not a cheater, but they might be.
- Everyone knows I have a girlfriend. Also, they can't do anything to me. Otherwise, Ashley will be furious. No one wants to mess with her.
- Is she that scary?
- No, but she knows how to keep her territory.
- I understand.
Something is wrong here. I think Ashley is hiding something from Ben. I don't want to be a party pooper, but I want to find her. That's why I excused myself and walked away. I looked around but didn't see her. Maybe she is on the second floor. What I do is wrong, but I want the truth. Soon I heard noises from one of the rooms. They were specific. Please don't tell me she is doing what I think she is. I slightly opened the door and saw her. I can't believe she is doing it, especially when Ben waits for her downstairs. Ashley was making out with a boy only in her underwear. The saddest part is that the boy is one of Ben's friends. I closed the door and went back downstairs. I know it has nothing to do with me, but I feel the pain. Now I wonder how long she has been cheating on him. That is disgusting in so many ways. I have to tell Ben, but not now.
- Hey.
- You are back.
- Yes. I see you are still alone.
- It's her party. We can be together tomorrow.
- Look, be careful.
- Why?
- Because you are blind.
- What do you mean?
- Nothing. I will go home.
- Wait! You can't go.
- Why?
- Because I like your company. Can't you stay here? For me?
- Excuse me. What are you doing with my boyfriend?
- Occupying him since you left him alone. Any girl can come here. I thought you would keep your territory.
- Watch your mouth, lady.
- Can we talk? Private.
- Follow me.
Ashley and I went into the same room. I mean, the one where I saw her making out with that boy. Being here makes me want to throw up. The bed sheets smell so bad. Honestly, I don't know how she can sleep at night.
- What do you want?
- To know why you are cheating on Ben.
- What?
- I know everything.
- I don't know what you are talking about right now.
- You left Ben alone, so I went to search for you. Ashley, I saw you making out with one of his friends. How could you do this? Ben is doing everything for you.
- How dare you get into my room?
- I didn't. Your door was open. Next time, lock it.
- What I do is not your business, b*tch.
- Tell me why you did it. Ben didn't do anything to you. He is treating you like a princess. Is this how you pay him? I mean, by cheating on him with his best friend.
- Listen to me carefully. If you don't go right now, I will throw you away in front of everyone. Oh, one more thing. If you tell Ben anything about this, I will make your life hell. Understood?
- Are you threatening me?
- No, it's a friendly reminder.
- You are a horrible person.
- I didn't ask for your opinion. Now go away. I don't want you here. I have no idea why you came.
- Ben told me to come. Unlike you, he is nice to everyone.
- I guess Ben and I should talk.
- Please, stop doing this. Ben doesn't deserve this.
- Why do you care so much about my boyfriend?
- Because in his place, I would feel horrible. That's why.
- What I do with my life is not your business. Now go away! I don't want to see you anymore. So, you will see my true colors if you get close to Ben one more time.
- You are a b*tch! - I said and left
I quickly walked downstairs, ready to leave the party. I don't want to be here anymore. Ashley is the worst person I have ever met. I was about to open the front door when someone grabbed my hand. It was Ben.
- Hey, are you leaving?
- Yes.
- Why?
- I can't stay here anymore.
- Did Ashley tell you something?
- No. I don't want to talk about this.
- Look, ignore her comments. I'm sure she didn't want to offend you.
- Ben, you are blind. I don't know how you can't see it.
- See what?
- The truth. People don't like your girlfriend for a reason. Now I know why.
- Can you tell me what she did?
- I told you to go away. No one wants you here. - Ashley said
- Why? What is going on?
- Don't worry. I won't stay here. I have been to better parties. - I said and left
- Cassie, wait! - I heard Ben shouting as he followed me
- Leave me alone.
- Please. - Ben said and grabbed my hand
- What?
- I don't know what she told you but ignore it.
- She told me to stay away from you because she is a jealous b*tch.
- That wasn't nice.
- People are right. You are too good for her. Open your eyes. She is not who you think she is. Before you say it, I'm not jealous. All I want is to help you.
- Ashley is not that bad.
- Keep talking like that until you realize the truth. Soon, you will see her true colors, but I won't be there to help you.
- What do you mean?
- Exactly what you are thinking about right now. - I said and walked away
- Cassie!
I ignored him and walked home. Ben is hurt. I feel it, but I won't help him. I don't even know why I care so much about him. All I had to do was find someone with the same aura as mine. No one said that I had to be their babysitter. Soon I walked home. My parents were watching a movie in the living room. I want to go into my room, but maybe one talk with them will make me feel better. I sat down, and mom looked at me.
- Honey, are you ok? How was the party?
- I don't know.
- Didn't you make friends or at least talk with people?
- Things are way more complicated than I thought.
- What happened?
- I know you don't want me to mention it, but I will do it. So, I had to find a person. It turned out to be a boy. He is the best person I know. I mean, he is nice to everyone. At the party, I found out his girlfriend was cheating on him. I could've told him. Well, she said I should keep my mouth shut. Also, I don't think he has to understand this from me. I don't know what to do. He is blind. I feel like I'm not the only one who knows about this.
- Maybe you have to stay away from this. It's not your problem.
- Your mom is right. Otherwise, you will get worried too much.
- I might do it.
I talked with my parents for a while. They are right. I have to stay away from this. The problem is not mine. The only issue is that Ben is hurt. I can feel his aura. I would've done it if there had been a way to help him. The thing is that it's not my priority. That is his problem. Also, if I do something, Ashley will finish me. She won't like that I am around Ben. He is a great friend, but too nice sometimes. That's why he will suffer so much. I feel bad for him, but I can't do anything. I don't think he will believe me. I have to stay away. Otherwise, things might get worse. I hope that one day Ben will open his eyes and see the truth.
