"I can’t do this anymore. I can’t continue to let him treat me this way." Those were Sora’s last words as she carried her suitcase leaving kane Blackwoods mansion that morning with the tears in her eyes and the weight that crushed her heart. She was determined to make a change. "Sir, Madame said I should give you this," the voice called. Mrs Caterina a woman in her early forties, with a white apron, was handling Kane Blackwood's a well sealed brown envelope. Kane reluctantly collected the envelope. Without sparing it a glance, he dropped it on the dining table and strode towards the master bedroom. What Mrs. Caterina hadn’t told Kane was that Mrs Kane left with her suitcase. Mrs Caterina didn't think it was necessary to tell Kane. To Sora Kane was distant, cold, and behaved as if she was non-existent to him,as if she meant nothing. It was better Kane hit her than what he had done to her. But yet she stayed; so many nights she cried and hugged herself to sleep. She believes she could melt his heart again. Somehow she still had hope of making him fall in love with her again. He was sweet, lovely and kind before he fell ill. For twelve long months, while he layed trapped in a vegetative state, She singlehandedly cared for him. How could he awaken only to treat her like a stranger? How could he change so much towards the very woman who never once gave up on him? Now that he was well again, he had become distant cold, withdrawn, and always cloaked in a brooding silence. Sora replayed everything in her mind, the sacrifices, the love, the sleepless nights. Still, she refused to give up. She made a quiet decision: no matter how much it hurt, she would give her marriage another chance. She would fight to make it work. Even though her heart was heavy, crushed and almost failing, she had done things she didn't think her pride could let her do. However, no matter the sexy lingerie Sora puts on, or the amount of cleavage she displayed, Kane still wasn’t interested in her. He would still reject her advances, and won't spare her any glance. He would even tell her not to embarrass herself next time. He rejected her touch like a vermin.and casted her aside neglecting her, emotionally, physically and mentally. She had been patiently waiting for him to come around to be the man he once was, to put in the effort to make things work between them again. Many times she even made excuses for him, convincing herself that maybe it was because he hadn’t fully recovered, even though an entire year had already passed. Kane had made Sora feel as though she wasn’t beautiful or desirable enough to be loved by a man. Deep down, Sora knew nothing was wrong with her,her hygiene was flawless, her self-care meticulous. She had never considered herself the most beautiful woman, but she also knew she deserved more than the emptiness and disregard with which he made her feel. She knew she hadn't always been attractive. But the rejection coming from Kane himself was almost unbearable. Nothing about her had changed; she was still the same woman he once cared for. Why did he look at her with indifference, as though she were nothing more than a shadow in his world? She had tried many times to have a heart to heart conversation with Kane just so everything could work out. She wanted to know where she did him wrong to make amends but he often brush her off without giving her a listening ear not to talk of having a conversation. Yet she didn't give up. But what he did a day before was something she couldn't take any longer. She would go; she would leave after all, Kane wouldn't care even if she left. He had done the unthinkable he brought in another woman into their matrimonial home. And not just any woman. It was Ruth. Her best friend. The same Ruth who had always sworn she despised men like Kane, the same Ruth who had once warned Sora against him. He brought in another woman not minding it was their anniversary, she had specifically prepared for these day to come. He was too handsome and handsome men couldn’t be faithful, Ruth would say but Sora trusted her husband. Even though their relationship hadn’t been smooth for a while, she still trusted him as her husband. She didn't think he was seeing someone else, not to talk of her friend. She believed he would never cheat on her. And he would come by very soon, and still be the sweet husband he was. But now he had brought the same Ruth to his matrimonial home shamelessly. Yet she stayed, she would talk to him again he wasn't like this before he feel ill. "Please don't leave me, , we can talk things out. Okay you can tell her to leave. He looks down at her like she is irritating him. Sora begged with tears in her eyes. Kane please don't do this, I will be a good wife and do as you say. Sora desperately shakes his arms like it's going snap sense back into his head. I must look pathetic right now. He never wanted to see my tears,Sora thought. But right now he is staring at them completely unaffected. "I don’t need to talk to you, and this stays between us. Know your place Sora,he forces the words out through clenched teeth. The veins on his forehead are popping and his hands are in tight fists on his sides. That morning, Sora handed the sealed divorce papers to the cook,Mrs Caterina to deliver to Kane, she packed her suitcase and left for the house her father had gifted her on her birthday. However, Kane never knew about the house. Since he had stopped keeping her updated about what was happening in his life, she had also cut him out of some of her affairs. She loved Kane so much, but she wasn’t a fool. She also knew when to stop oversharing her personal life with him, since he did. As Sora reached her new home, with the emptiness she felt. Replaying every moment. When she almost died giving birth to his child,he only stood there watching coldly at her. distant. The loose ring on her finger, the one she had happily carry around with pride. She looked closely, inside the band, tiny almost invisible were engraved initials.not hers. R.W Ruth Walters. Her breath caught, her vision blurry, she felt like a thousand needles were been pierced into her heart. How did it take her years to know? He never loved her,she was a mere pawn to him. She looked around the quiet room,it was beautiful and quite suitable to sort her soul at the moment. She finally let the tears she had been holding, pour down her spotless face. She knew her life without Kane wouldn’t be easy, but she was ready to go through the phase. Her sanity was important too. She would put herself first at least this time. She settled in and made arrangements for the next day. She believed that before the weekend, she and Kane would have almost gone through the divorce process. Handling him meant she was making it easier for him. He wanted it after all. The decision was hard for her but she had to keep it going. It was the hardest pill Sora had to swallow. As Sora walked into Briarwoods Inc., she went straight to her seat and focused on her work. “Mrs. Sora,” Zachary called placing a stack of files on her desk. “Mr. Kane asked that you work on this.” He turned to leave, but Sora quickly called him back. “I’m sorry, Mr. Zach,” she said plainly, “but I already have a lot on my desk, and time isn’t on my side.” At first, Zach thought he hadn’t heard Sora clearly. But when he asked again, her response remained the same. His expression darkened as he frowned. “Mrs. Sora,” he said sharply, “you seem to be getting a little too comfortable. Don’t forget your role.” Leaning closer, his tone laced with malice, as he added, “If this is about Mr. Kane you know he won’t care, even if you are his wife.” Sora was stunned at how Zach and almost everyone close to Kane had changed, since Kane himself changed. It was as if everyone of them was having her in mind. Zach wouldn't dare look up to face and talk carelessly before now. However Sora smiled, his words were true Even as the CEO'S wife, she wasn't treated special. Don't worry Mr Zachary. “Be rest assured that my performance won’t be an issue anytime soon.” Zachary was confused. What he didn’t know was that Sora had submitted her resignation as soon as she arrived at Briarwoods Inc. earlier. He didn’t understand what had caused Sora’s attitude to change so drastically over the weekend. She wasn’t like this. Sora would usually work extra hours, and even when she was tired and needed rest, she would give her best, no matter how exhausted she felt. Naturally, Sora would have stayed silent, offering nothing but an apology no matter what Zach said to her. This time, however, Zach was stunned he hadn’t expected her to talk back. With the divorce already in motion and her resignation on the table, Sora no longer felt it was necessary to exhaust herself working tirelessly. She also has to dust her file to go back to the medical field, she had abandon three years ago. That's where she would Chanel h er energy to. In Sora’s mind, the divorce would be finalized within a week. What Sora didn’t know, however, was that Kane hadn’t even opened the envelope she had sent through Madame Caterina. In fact, he had already forgotten that the cook ever handed him anything from Sora.
