The next day, Mrs. Caterina came to work with her five-year-old son. Seeing the envelope, he mistook it for a trash and, without his mother’s consent, tossed it into the bin, believing he was doing the right thing.
Kane had several projects to catch up on, and the workload consumed nearly all of his time.
Between endless meetings and deadlines, he forgot to call Grandma, even though the thought had crossed his mind once or twice.
The weekend came and went, and he never made it home.
He didn’t call Sora either, brushing it off with the belief that she would eventually reach out to him, as she always did.
He was certain Grandma wouldn’t let Sora stay away for too long.
Sooner or later, she would talk her into coming back home. And Sora, after all, wasn’t difficult to persuade.
After settling into his office, he told Zach to ask Sora to bring his tea, as usual.
For a moment, Zachary was stunned. The situation was only growing more confusing.
“Sir, Mrs. Sora no longer works here.
Kane didn't think much of it,he believed Sora must have done something to earn her sack.
“When?” he asked coldly, a frown settling on his face, his elbows pressed against the table.
He was furious and curious. Feelings that rarely ever touched him. In fact, he wasn’t the type to be shaken this way.
Zach had almost never seen his boss like this. Kane was usually cold, distant, icy but never unsettled.
Once again, Zach tried to explain to Kane how many times he had brought up the matter, but his boss had never paid him any attention.
But Kane cut him off, refusing to listen to anymore word.
He didn’t want to discuss anything else, not now.
Without delay, he rushed home to Sora. He needed to know what she did to get her sacked.
However, when he reached home, he was met with the same eerie silence he had left behind days ago.
Mrs Caterina greeted him warmly.
Seeing Mrs. Caterina, Kane considered asking if Sora had told her where she had gone.
Mrs. Caterina explained how, on the day Sora left with her suitcase, she had handed her an envelope to deliver to him and she had done so.
Kane did remember receiving the envelope, but what he couldn’t recall was where he had left it.
With that thought gnawing at him, he made his way to Grandma’s house, only to find that she wasn’t there either.
The few times he came home and didn’t find her, he cared little.
Since they no longer shared the same room, he simply assumed she was in hers. And when she wasn’t there, he convinced himself she must have been with Grandma.
He called Sora, but her number was not reachable.
He quickly dialed Zach’s number.
“Find Sora for me!”
“I will find her wherever she is and bring her to you, boss,” Zach’s voice dripped with malice over the phone.
“If you dare lay a finger on her, I will make sure you don’t see the next sunset,” Kane warned sternly.
He knew Zach too well; he understood he had to give him warnings.
For two weeks,Sora had done nothing but focus on advancing her medical career and alone in her apartment,no one knew where she stays, not even Jessica, her best friend. She decided to keep low profile for the time being.
She even rejoined her former team.
And took extra lessons with Professor Carter.
Her team's new teacher.
Professor Carter was in mid thirties, though at first glance one might mistake him for being in his twenties.
His dark, silky hair often fell in careless strands across his face, half-concealing the dangerous depth of his eyes.
He was cold as ice, and with a single glare, anyone caught beneath his gaze seemed to freeze.
Professor Carter was nothing like the average thirty-five-year-old man.
He was hot, effortlessly sexy, and still turned the heads of both younger and older women alike.
Yet his striking physique was only a bonus. He was, in every sense, the perfect blend of beauty and brains.
With the help of Professor Carter, sora finds some things easier.
She knew it would be tough to return and pick up her dreams after abandoning them three years ago to marry the love of her life, right after graduation.
But she was determined.
She didn’t just reconnect with Professor Carter, she also reunited with her former teammates.
Sora had been the best graduating student in her set, and the youngest as well.
She was glad they were all happy to have her back, they didn't hesitate to add her to the w******p group.
Especially her best friend Jessica.
Jessica: Hi guyssss. Guess what…?
Sora: ???
Jessica: professor. Carter is going to Pretoria in a month with some of our team.
So, he asked us to appoint another team leader of our choice. Now, let’s vote.
Ken: Sora.
Seth: Sora.
Sarah: Sora.
Jessica: Looks like the majority has spoken. Sora is the new team leader.
Sora: What!? Me? What do I even know? I’m still improving my skills. It’s going to be hard for me.
Ken: But you’re the best candidate for the position.
Sarah: Besides, taking this position is giving you another opportunity to be yourself again.
Sora: …Okay, fine.
Sora remembered the team's annual get_together was announced in the group but she didn't have any interest in attending.
She only wanted to focus on growing herself and taking care of her daughter Meerah, the source of her happiness.
She had already made up her mind not to attend, but she was still searching for excuses to give her te
ammates especially Jessica, her best friend.
As she sat in her room, working on the thesis Professor Carter had assigned her, her phone lits up.
