The coldness in Finley's eyes was so thick it could have frozen into solid frost.
He picked up the divorce agreement off the desk, his thumb brushing over the clean, sharp signature of "Audrey Ellis" at the bottom.
His voice was like shards of ice. "What the hell is going on here?"
Cold sweat poured down Lucas' forehead. He did not dare meet Finley's gaze, and stammered out every last detail of what had happened.
"Mr. Fox... it was Miss Roth, Evelyn Roth." Lucas cowered, his shoulders trembling as he kept his eyes locked on the floor. "She sent messages to the madam pretending to be you, and forced me to deliver the divorce agreement to her. She used your name to trick her into leaving."
By the time Lucas finished speaking, the icy aura rolling off Finley had grown even more suffocat
