25 The Summoning Of The Demigod

1445 Words
Peter stared at the sphinx. He had been speechless for almost a minute now, after hearing the sphinx’s suggestion for him to summon a demigod.   “After you summon the demigod, you can ask the demigod for a deal to remove the invisibility of your friend’s head and arm. After that, you can use the invigorating blood to finally bring him to normal. Easy, right?”   “Demigod? That would be cool!” Ray exclaimed.   The sphinx turned to look at Ray and gave him a grin. “Yes, I agree.”   “No, Ray. That’s not cool. We can’t summon a demigod,” Peter said.   “Well, we summoned a sphinx. It wouldn’t be impossible to summon a demigod,” Zack said. He was interested in meeting a demigod, but at the same time, he was nervous about meeting a demigod.   Peter sighed. “We can’t. You don’t know what would happen to us when we meet the demigod,” Peter argued.   “How can you say that? Did you meet one?” Ray asked.   Peter cleared his throat. “Well, no.”   Ray chuckled. “See? You haven’t even met a demigod once. You can’t possibly tell how bad they are if you didn’t even meet one of them,” Rat said. “Let’s just summon the demigod.”   Peter couldn’t believe how easy for them to say that. He was the one to summon, and he wasn’t even sure if the next summoning would be safe and it would be sure the demigod could help them.   “Give me time to think,” Peter said.   “Think quick, Peter. You probably don’t know, but those things that Medusa stoned will stay stoned forever if the curse is not reversed until the first sunrise,” the sphinx said.   Peter looked outside and it was still a little dark, but the sun was warning to rise. He was right. He did the right decision to not wait for another day to pass. If he listened to Zack, then Josh should’ve stayed as stone forever.   “It’s 3:27 am, Peter,” Ray said as he looked from his phone. We still have almost 2 hours.   Peter looked at the sphinx, who was also looking back at him. “What do you say?”   “But I don’t have that much power to summon a demigod,” Peter said.   The sphinx chuckled. “You can ask your friends to share their spiritual power to you. It would be enough to hold a powerful circle but it won’t be enough to summon the demigod.” He looked at the orb Peter was holding. “Two of you can drink a part of invigorating blood to gain more power.”   “No,” Zack was the first one to decline. “I won’t drink that freaking blood,” he said.   Peter looked at Ray. “I won’t drink that. We don’t know what would it do to us,” Ray said.   “I won’t drink this,” Peter said and stared at the orb. “This just looked like I’m drinking actual fresh blood,” he said and grimaced.   “If every one of you won’t, then say bye-bye to your dear stoned friend,” the sphinx said, looking at stoned Josh who was just behind Ray and Zack.   Zack turned around to look at stoned Josh to think. He then turned back around. “No way. Over my dead body. I won’t drink that—that nasty blood.”   Peter looked at Ray with hopeful eyes. “I’ll drink the blood, but I need one of you to do the same.”   “You don’t need to drink all. A sip can be enough to double your spiritual power. Another person to sip, another double power,” the sphinx said, guiding them.   Peter could drink as much as he could, but it would be best if there’s another one to drink with him. Aside from the assurance he won’t be the only one to die, there was also an assurance that his energy won’t be drained as much.   Ray sighed. “Fine,” he agreed.   Ray and Zack left stoned Josh for a while to summon the demigod.   “I should send you back to your lair,” Peter said.   “I prefer you call it my kingdom,” the sphinx said, the word “lair” that Peter said left a distaste in the sphinx’s mouth.   Peter only nodded and flipped on the Book Of Dimension to find the mantra to send the sphinx back to its world.   The creature summoned by Peter Cohen, I command you to go back to your world!   “Good luck, Peter Cohen,” the sphinx said before it was sucked back to its portal. The portal slowly shrunk, until it popped a small force of the wind that just blew them mildly.   Peter sighed and stared at the orb of invigorating blood. “How do I sip this?” Peter asked.   “Should we crack it open?” Zack asked.   “I don’t think that would be good. You might crack the whole thing and spill the blood,” Ray said.   Peter slowly placed the orb near his mouth. When his mouth touched the orb, it felt like his lips could penetrate through the glass. “Woah!” he exclaimed and took the orb back away from his mouth. “That’s just weird. It felt like the glass melts with the touch of my lips.”   “Then that’s how we drink it,” Ray said and grimaced as he just said that. “It disgusts me now to think I’ll drink a sip of that.”   Peter sighed again. “Okay, I’ll try and take a sip.”   He then placed the orb to his lips again, feeling his lips pass through the orb. Something cold touched his lips, something liquid. He tried to sip and he successfully did. When he took a good small sip, he drew the orb away from his mouth and gave it to Ray.   Peter quickly gulped the liquid down. While watching Ray slowly doing the same, he took a good taste in his mouth. His eyebrows creased.   It wasn’t as disgusting and bad as he expected. It tasted like juice from exotic tropical fruit. He gulped down his saliva until his saliva washed away the fruity taste of the invigorating blood.   “It’s not as weird as its name,” Ray said, who just finished gulping his part. He was still tasting his mouth when he offered it to Zack. “Wanna try? It’s not that bad.”   Zack grimaced and pushed Ray’s hand slowly, away from him. “No matter how good that tastes, I won’t drink a drop of it.”   Ray sneered and gave it to Peter. “What now?”   Peter took the orb and placed it back in his pocket. “We should form a circle first.”   “Ignazzi?” Ray asked.   Peter only nodded.   Just like they did last time, they held hand in hand, focused their spiritual powers, and formed an ignazzi circle.   Slowly, a bright red light came to its luminescent appearance. Unlike the last one Peter formed, it was a lot bigger, that it almost fitted the whole indoor pavilion, and its light was bright that it lit the pavilion, and he was sure it could also be seen from outside, or from afar.   The sphinx was right. The invigorating blood could improve one’s power. Peter then thought that it should also be true that people go after the blood, to improve one’s power.   “Have you seen anything like this before?” Zac asked.   Ray was in awe and shook Peter. “Dude, this is so big! The summoning of demigod could be successful.”   Peter shook his head. “There’s no assurance, but we shall hope for the best,” Peter said.   He then flipped through the pages of the Book Of Dimension to find the mantra to summon the demigod.   Ray and Zack checked the book by his side and Ray pointed into one mantra.   Peter nodded. “That’s it,” Peter said and didn’t waste time reading and recite the mantra.   The superior creature from the Nylathurow world;  You are a minor deity but a mortal of immortal power;  Consider and seal a deal with me.  In my name, Peter Cohen, I command you to appear in this world!   A whirling wind swirled inside the circle, which sent their hairs and clothes to billow through the wind.   The wind disappeared, but a portal never showed up.   “What? Is it fail?” Ray asked.   “That damn sphinx. I knew it. The invigorating blood won’t work. The last thing we’ll know, and it might be poison—“ Zack’s blabber was cut when Peter covered his mouth with the closed Book Of Dimension.   “Hush! Can you hear that?” Peter asked. They all fell silent to hear what Peter was talking about.   The sky was rumbling outside, and they could hear something like a fading-in sound of fire torch.   Peter looked up. “It’s coming from above,” he said.   Just after he said that something hit the roof of the indoor pavilion.   The three of them covered their heads to protect them from falling debris of the roof. Not even a second, they felt something fall on the floor of the pavilion.   Peter and the two removed their arms over their faces and looked in front of them.   There, a man wearing a golden war armor suit stood before them.   “Is he..?” Ray whispered.   The man looked at them intimidatingly. “Who are you mortals to conjure me into this world?”
