54 Peter’s Suspicion

1472 Words
No whispers were heard again.   It’s been an hour since Peter heard from Emma, and he had been in his bed since he ended the call. He cried earlier but now that he did, he couldn’t anymore.   He still couldn’t believe that Josh was gone; he couldn’t gulp down and believe that his close friend had died. He wished that all of it was just a dream.   Josh’s death was too sudden that he thought something was weird about it. He found it strange about Josh dying in a sudden accident.   After what happened three years ago, he realized that death will come after them and he thought it would be the creatures from other worlds that would come after them and kill them.   Knowing Josh, he was careful about driving a car. The last time he talked to him via call, Josh mentioned he never drive and hired someone to drive for him. He said he was never comfortable about driving cars and even said he was paranoid about getting himself in danger.   And now he died in a car accident.   No matter how much Peter thought it was an actual accident; either his driver or the other vehicle involved was at fault, it still won’t fit together.   If it wasn’t an actual accident, then it had to do something with their involvement at summoning by Book of Dimensions.   He knew he should investigate it. He knew something like this happened before and he wanted to know if it was the same as what happened to Josh.   Since he didn’t have any access to any physical books that were related to the Book of Dimensions, he had to go where there was a reliable source. The dream kingdom.   He knew there was a library there. Although he had never roamed around there, he saw that it was huge. He thought it was probably where Wiboe got those two practice books for him. Maybe he could also find some useful books there.   After thinking for some time, he decided to visit the dream kingdom to investigate.   It didn’t take long for him to fall asleep and got to the dream space.   He was in a rush, so he quickly made a jet plane for him to drive. After getting on the jet plane, he drove up to the sky towards the dream kingdom. He stopped by the entrance of the dream kingdom and met the giant stone monsters there, eyeing him.   He ejected from the pilot seat of the jet plane and landed by the entrance with a parachute. The two stone monsters just gave him a look and never showed suspicion on him. So he walked into the dream kingdom after making the jet plane and his parachute disappear.   Just like before, dream lords and dream goblins were roaming around.   “Oh? Mr. Peter?” a familiar voice called out behind him. When he turned around, he saw the teenage girl he saw last time when they were fighting the squid monster. She smiled when she saw him. “It is you,” she greeted and walked to him.   He smiled at her. “Yeah. It’s been a while. You’re still training with the other guys?” he asked.   She nodded. “Yeah, but I changed team so I don’t see them anymore,” she said. “How about you? Are you here to hunt squid monsters?”   Peter shook his head. “Nah, I’m here to check the library.”   She nodded and smiled. “I see,” she said and looked to her side. “I need to go now. See you around Mr. Peter,” she said and left him there.   He watched the teenage girl for a while and thought she was such an adorable kid. Remembering the main reason why he went there, he continued to walk further until he reached the main castle of the kingdom, where he remembered the library was.   “What can I do for you?” the dream goblin librarian said when he reached the library entrance.   Peter peeked inside and looked back at her. “Do I need an ID or something to get in?” he asked, although he knew he had nothing like that.   “No, but you can only enter if you’re a dreamlord. Dreamlord trainees are not allowed,” she said. She looked at him from head to toe and nodded. “You can proceed,” she said.   He entered the library and to his surprise, he was welcomed with tall shelves of books. There was no shelf ladder, only vehicles that looked like a swivel chair was there, but with no wheels. The bottom had something like a fire torch and he just noticed that on one of the arms of the chair, there were controls.   Having no idea how it worked, he sat on one chair. The torch below the chair became intense and he saw that the controls only had four controls: left, right, up, and down.   He didn’t know where to start so he stepped off of the chair and walked to the librarian.   “Can you tell me where I could see the histories of Book of Dimensions?” he asked her.   The dream goblin librarian gave him a strange look. She didn’t say anything and opened her mouth to speak, only to keep her mouth open for a second and then nodded. “It’s on the white shelf. There’s only one white shelf here, so you wouldn’t be confused.”   Peter nodded but he wasn’t sure if what he heard was helpful. With the numbers of shelves and how many levels there was, he didn’t know where to start.   After passing a few levels of shelves, he saw the white shelf the librarian mentioned.   While seated, he looked around and there were a lot of books there. There were only no more than twenty books there. Some were manuals to the Book of Dimensions, some others he was not interested in, like the Power Parties in Book of Dimensions.   Well, maybe he was a bit interested, but he had more important things to know.   One particular book caught his attention. The Mysterious Events With The Book Of Dimensions.   He quickly took it from the shelf and with the swivel chair, he pressed the down button and when he reached the ground, he quickly left the swivel chair and left went to the desks where he could read it.   He opened the book and the first page was empty. On the top-left side of the second page was the name of a person.   Carmine Florence   Third generation summoner. She died at the age of 35 when she fell from the rooftop of a 9-floor building. It was still a mystery whether she fell from the roof or if she was pushed off the building since the residents from the 9th floor reported they heard her arguing with a man about some book. Ever since then, her copy of the Book of Dimensions was not found.   He felt shivers down his spine and continued to read some others.   Ricky Angelo   Second generation summoner. He died at the age of 20, due to a car accident. People speculated he was drunk-driving, but investigations said that no alcohol was found during the autopsy. As the investigation progressed, the authorities found an unregistered truck vehicle. There was also video footage that showed how the car was bulldozed by the truck, and based on the footage, it was said that the truck driver intended to hit the car, and the person waited until the car reached an exact distance away from the truck and timed the hit. Ricky’s copy of Book of Dimensions was never found, as his family stated. The truck left no trace as well.   That one had stuck to Peter for some time because somehow, it rang a bell. He didn’t want to think it was the same scenario for Josh’s death, but if that was the case, then someone was trying to get Edgar Lee’s copy of Book of Dimensions. And in that instance, the first thing to suspect the possession of the book was Josh Lee, the inheritor of Edgar Lee’s possessions.   Someone was looking for the book. Peter thought that maybe they didn’t detect it was in his possession because he had not used it since three years ago.   He flipped through the pages of the book and found something.   There were lists of anonymous groups, organizations, and individuals behind all this.   Some were named with an alias, somewhere unknown.   Black hoods, Dragon Warriors, Jasmine, Rotators. Those were some of the organizations listed there. The book said they were intently interrogated and investigated until perpetrators and suspects were caught.   Based on the book, what these organizations did was, they have men to search about the deaths of the owners of the books, and when they found their whereabouts, they search if the book was inherited by their relatives. And when they found out that a book was inherited under the name of the deceased’s relative, that person became their primary target.   Peter thought, without a doubt, that his friend died because of the book. And he knew someday soon, they will come after Ray, Zack, and of course, him.
