The Silver Moon Pack’s territory hadn't changed, but I had.
As the black armored SUV rolled through the pack borders, I felt the familiar hum of the forest. Five years ago, I ran through these woods bleeding and broken. Today, I was arriving as the guest of honor—the personal advisor to the most feared Alpha in the world.
"Breathe, Elena," Killian’s deep voice vibrated beside me. He reached out, his large hand covering mine. His touch was warm, grounding me. "You are the predator now. They are the prey."
I took a deep breath, smoothing out my silk emerald dress. The slit reached mid-thigh, showing off the lethal dagger strapped to my leg. My hair fell in dark, glossy waves, and my eyes—once dull and submissive—now burned with a silver fire.
The car stopped in front of the Grand Hall. A crowd of Alphas and Lunas from different packs had gathered. And there, standing at the top of the stairs, were them.
Alpha Kael looked exactly the same—tall, arrogant, and cold. Beside him stood Chloe, draped in expensive furs, acting like the Luna she never deserved to be.
When the door opened, the chattering crowd went silent. Killian stepped out first, his presence like a dark storm cloud that commanded respect. He turned and offered his hand to me.
I stepped out, the heels of my designer shoes clicking sharply against the stone.
I heard the collective gasp. I saw Kael’s face turn pale, his grey eyes widening in pure shock. His scent spiked—agitation, confusion, and... desire?
"Alpha Thorne," Kael stammered, his gaze glued to my face. "Welcome. We... we weren't expecting you to bring a companion."
Killian pulled me closer to his side, his arm possessively circling my waist. "This is Elena Vance. My top strategist and the woman who holds my absolute trust. I don't go anywhere without her."
"Elena?" Chloe shrieked, her voice high and annoying. "That’s impossible! That pathetic omega died in the rogue forest!"
I stepped forward, a cold, elegant smile playing on my lips. I didn't look like a victim. I looked like a Queen.
"Hello, Chloe," I said, my voice smooth as velvet. "Reports of my death were greatly exaggerated. And Alpha Kael..." I turned my gaze to my former mate, watching him flinch. "You look like you've seen a ghost. Are you alright? You seem to be having trouble breathing."
Kael’s wolf was howling inside him—I could feel it through the remnants of our broken bond. He was realizing that the 'weak' girl he rejected was now standing next to a man twice as powerful as him.
"Elena, we need to talk," Kael growled, stepping toward me, his hand reaching out.
Before he could touch me, Killian was there. His eyes turned pitch black, and the ground beneath us seemed to tremble with his shadow power.
"Touch her," Killian whispered, his voice like a death promise, "and I will tear this pack house down with everyone inside it. She is under my protection now."
The tension was suffocating. I looked at Kael’s humiliated face and felt a surge of satisfaction. This was only the beginning.
