Devin rolled over, slowly waking up. An IV line was still secure in his arm. He’d reluctantly allowed Brian Stoffer to start an infusion of a medication that strengthens the cells so they’d better withstand the effects of time travel. This was the same compound he’d given the volunteers who had traveled back in time to create Devin. Since he’d been subjected to a time jump once and no one was sure how another move through time so soon would affect him, they weren’t taking any chances. He had only agreed to the IV when Brian and Matthew promised to find a way to accomplish the mission and still get him back to his time.
