He gave me a faint smile and led me to the center of the stage.
The spotlight fell on us, and every eye in the room turned our way.
I heard a malicious little laugh.
It was probably Mia. She was the only one who couldn't stand seeing me happy.
Soft music began to play.
Then, from the other side of the stage, another figure slowly emerged.
He was wearing the exact same watch as Wesley.
Even his outfit was identical.
While everyone stared in confusion, Mia clapped her hands and took the microphone from the host.
"Okay, my dear sister. Let's see if you can figure out which of these two men is your husband."
Someone in the crowd blurted out, "What kind of joke is this? Mr. Wynn and his bastard brother don't even look alike. Anyone with two eyes could tell them apart."
My gaze moved back and forth between the two men as I deliberately put on a troubled expression.
The seconds ticked by.
Both Ethan and Wesley looked increasingly grim, and the entire ballroom gradually fell silent.
"Come on, Chloe. Don't tell me you really can't tell them apart."
Mia grinned.
"Fine. I'll give you the answer. They're both your husbands. They've been taking turns playing your husband all these years, and you never noticed?"
The room erupted.
Whispers broke out as countless strange looks fell upon us.
Mia was an absolute i***t.
By putting everything out in the open, she had made sure everyone involved would be humiliated.
I had no idea how Wesley had ever agreed to this.
Finally, I laughed.
"Yes, I do have prosopagnosia. I can't tell people apart. And as for these two…"
I looked at them calmly.
"Neither of them is someone I would recognize as my husband."
With that, I pressed the remote hidden in my hand.
The giant screen behind us immediately came to life, playing the videos I had asked Q to find.
A recording of Mia appeared.
"If Wesley finds out tomorrow that the woman he married isn't me, he'll definitely take it out on Chloe!"
The video showed Mia packing her bags and leaving a note on the table before getting into a car bound for the airport.
Then another clip played.
"So Chloe really has prosopagnosia? Yeah, right. There's no way. Ethan, you're going home in my place tonight. Let's see if she can tell the difference."
The scene changed.
Wesley stood there with a dark expression before slapping Ethan across the face.
"She really didn't recognize you. Good. Very good. Ethan, from now on, you stay by her side."
Then came a series of photos of Wesley traveling the world with Mia.
The caption read: Some people can't tell a fake gem from a real diamond. But in my eyes, there has only ever been one woman.
Then the audio changed to Wesley's voice from that night at home.
"Wesley, you'd better be careful Chloe doesn't get pregnant. A woman like her would be a real handful once she has a baby."
"No one else would dare touch her. Besides, even if she does get pregnant, we can just get rid of it."
"Yeah. You're right."
The final image appeared on the screen.
My pregnancy report.
And beneath it, in huge letters: You two assholes can go to hell. I'm done playing along.
The entire ballroom was left speechless.
Then Mia let out a shriek.
"Turn it off! This is defamation! That video was edited!"
I lifted the hem of my dress and smiled at the two men.
"I don't care which one of you is which anymore. The divorce papers will be mailed to you in a week. Remember to sign them."
Ethan stared straight at me.
Shock and excitement flashed across his face.
"Chloe… you're really carrying my baby?"
Wesley snapped back to reality and kicked Ethan.
"I f*****g told you not to touch her! She's my wife!"
Ethan hit the floor, but he seemed not to feel the pain.
He just stared stubbornly at me.
An hour ago, these two men had been on the same side.
Now, they were turning on each other.
What a joke.
I ignored the desperate pleas behind me and walked away without looking back.
