The rogue's attention was briefly on me before they all died from my arrows. I bent down by Nadine. “Are you alright?” She sat up and grabbed me by the coat. “Save my little girl! I’m begging you! She’s only five years old.” My blood ran cold. Someone had Susie? I said, “I promise you; I’ll get your daughter back. Nothing will happen to her.” I swear to the war goddess. I’d kill anyone in my path to bring Susie home. Nadine said, “Susie. Her name is Susie.” I carried Nadine in a fireman’s carry. She groaned in pain. I didn't have time to be careful though. I ran her back to the hospital. The doctor was back in the hall. He looked at me strangely. I put Nadine down and took out her necklace. I put it in her hand and took off. My phone rang an emergency ringtone. I looked at it as I ran. The read out said Julie Child. That was my code for Sally. Her GPS showed her at her house. I headed towards her. When I got there, I saw a man carrying Susie. She was screaming and crying for her mother. A rage I’d never felt before overtook me. I let my arrows fly. My aim was on target, and my arrows killed everyone in their path. I saw Noah. Why was he blue? The hell was going on? His eyes met mine. He seemed startled by what he saw in mine.
I couldn’t blame him. I’d never been this angry in my entire life. I caught up to Susie and ripped her away from the man. I pulled a knife out of my shoe and buried a knife into his spinal cord so he couldn’t move. I put Susie behind me and shot several arrows at Noah. It would’ve hit him if he hadn’t been near a holo port. f**k witches. I’m with Haley. They’ve got to go. WAIT! Haley. I called her. A voice answered, “Haley’s phone.” I hung up without saying anything. If Haley wasn’t answering that meant she couldn’t. I heard Sally’s cries, “BA! Over here! I’ll pull you and Susie through!” I ran to her voice. Her arms quickly yanked us both inside. Sally was sobbing, “This is all my fault. I’m so sorry Susie.” Susie was in a state of shock. She said, “My mom…” I said, “I got your mom to the doctor. She’s going to be fine.” I turned to Sally as Susie held her arms around her body and rocked herself on her feet. I said, “Sally, Noah’s crazy isn’t your fault. Whatever he does, that’s not on you. You’ve moved on. He’s a crazy person, and he’s the ONLY one responsible. He’s making choices. So are you, and you have a child to protect. I’m leaving Susie with you so two children to protect.” Sally said, “He was talking crazy. He said he knew I was here, and that he had a way to make me come out. He said he sent Derrick into a trap!” She started to sob. I said, “Feel your bond with Derrick Sally. What do you feel?” Sally hiccupped and said, “Excitement. He’s excited.” I said, “Of course he is. He’s a wolf and he’s fighting. You’ll know if he’s hurt.” Susie spoke, “That man said mommy was dead.” She started to sob again.
I turned to see the man I’d incapacitated. I was practically vibrating I was so angry. Sally said, “BA?” I turned and knelt down to Susie’s level. “I swear to you Susie. Your mother was alive when I left her at the hospital. She was hurt, but she was alive. She was worried about you. She made me promise to save you.” Susie seemed unconvinced. I said, “Why don’t you and Sally go inside and start up on Operation Tacos?” Susie’s eyes jerked up to mine. They widened in awe and surprise. I said, “I’m sure your pack will be hungry when they are done fighting.” Susie nodded. I handed her a necklace. I took it out and put it around her neck. “I want you to promise me if you EVER need me you will rub this necklace. I will be there for you. It will tell me where you are, and I’ll come help you. No matter what.” Susie looked at the necklace. “It’s beautiful. Thank you, BA.” I smiled, “You’re welcome.” I turned to Sally, “Go inside. Close all the blinds, and do not look outside. Turn on some music.” Sally said, “BA… what are you going to do?” I said, “What needs to be done.” I stepped back out. Some rogues were running away from the fight. My anger at not being able to tell if Chase was ok, and the terror I’d heard in Susie’s voice flooded back into my veins. Seeing Frank and Nadine hurt… These fuckers hurt my family. I turned to see Sally and Susie were inside. Sally was closing the blind, but I didn’t see Susie. I let my arrows fly. I was unstoppable. I thanked the war goddess I’d grabbed the gear from my house. Haley had enchanted this set of gear. She wanted to see if her enchantment would let my arrows replenish themselves. I’d have to tell her it did. Once the last rogue was dead, I grabbed the man who’d taken Susie by the foot. I dragged him to a tree. I grabbed my rope from my coat and tied it around his leg as he whimpered.
I said, “Shut up you pathetic weak excuse of a man.” The man said, “My powers… Why aren’t they working on you?” That surprised me. I looked down at my outfit and smiled. “I have a powerful fairy friend. She takes my safety seriously. Especially from warlocks and witches. She doesn’t like them much. At this point… I have to agree with her. You all suck ass.” The warlock hissed, “The fairy princess.” I nodded, “That would be her. Why did you take the little girl?” The warlock said, “The Noah guy…. He paid me to get in and get the little girl. He’d bartered with the rogues. He told them they could have her once his string came outside to exchange herself in his place.” I strung him up. He hissed, “Hey! I answered you.” I yanked my knife out of his back and cut near his groin. “Not completely. I know when people are giving me just enough of the truth and holding things back. I’ve been doing this a long time. I also expect people to be lying assholes.” The warlock hissed as I cut the other side of his groin. I smiled, “Now, unless you want me to cut off your family jewels… Answer my damn question.” The warlock said, “We were supposed to kill her mother. She should be dead. I left her in an incapacitated state for the rogues to handle. Noah said that her death would drive the Alpha’s father mad. He’d kill himself. The rogues were going to get a lot of money for the girl from the Alpha. She’s his sister. He’d want her back.” I stabbed him in the bicep. He screamed in pain. I said, “Try again. Noah would NEVER give her to them. She’s too valuable and he had her in his hands. What’s the actual plan?” The warlock glared at me with hatred. Finally he said, “You’re right. Noah was going to take his string and the girl. She was to be my reward.” My stomach tightened. “Your reward?” The warlock said, “Yes. The little girl. She’s beautiful and perfect…” He didn’t get to finish. His screams of agony rang in my ears as I castrated him. His screams only made me more upset. “Shut the f**k up you sick freak!” I screamed at him.
He said, “You said you wouldn’t do that if I answered you!” I said, “I changed my mind.” The warlock said, “Well you can’t save my brother’s reward. He’s been eyeing Alpha Cameron’s Luna for so long.” I said, “I will save her too.” I shoved his own c**k into his mouth. Forcing it into his esophagus. I said, “Girls learn how to breath doing this, but something tells me you don’t know how.” I watched as his eyes watered and began to bug out as he asphyxiated. He gagged but he died when I held his c**k in place and his vomit couldn’t get out of his airway. Once he was dead, I took off for Cameron’s border. I cut through Haley’s territory in order to get as close to their main house as I could. I should’ve given Reagan the necklace sooner. I couldn’t believe I’d messed us this bad. I heard someone scream, “PROTECT THE LUNA!” I hit a higher gear in my stride. I let my arrows fly as soon as I saw wolves. The grey and brown wolf whirled around to face me. Reagan shifted to her human form. She seemed shocked, “You’re the Black Arrow…. What are you doing here?” I said, “I’m here to help. I was helping out Alpha Chase’s pack. A warlock I interrogated slipped up a plan to take you as a prize.” Reagan growled, “Chase is under attack too? SHITHEADS! I will NOT be taken by a rogue.” I said, “Warlock.” Reagan glared, “Yeah, I’m not getting taken by one of those either. That’s why I can’t link Cameron isn’t it? Some stupid warlock is preventing it.” We both heard a male laugh, “Very good Luna. Is it any wonder I want you for myself?”
Reagan gasped, “Hank?” I said, “A warlock named Hank? God what is the world coming to? If you want to be even angrier Reagan. Your five-year-old sister-in-law was meant to be the prize for his brother.’ Reagan roared ferociously and shifted into her wolf. She began to tear through rogues to get to the warlock. I aided her by sending my arrows flying at those she missed. She was making a beeline for whoever Hank was. The warlock started chanting. I said, “That’s weak.” Reagan was whimpering but kept going. Hank said, “It’s not weak. I’m using what I’ve got.” I said, “Still weak. You cowards could at least learn how to fight. Don’t worry, you’ll be joining your brother soon.” Hank frowned, “What do you mean?” I said, “Oh… I mean I killed him by shoving his d**k down his throat. He couldn’t breathe.” Hank stopped paying attention to Reagan’s attack. “You killed my brother?” Hank asked me. I said, “I did. Anyone who wants a five-year-old as a reward has GOT to go.” He tried to hit me with a spell, but it didn’t work. He was surprised for a brief moment before Reagan reached him. She tackled him to the ground and ripped his head off. I heard a shuffle behind us. I turned and shot two more rogues fighting with Reagan’s pack members. I turned back around when I heard a sickening thud and groan. I screamed, “NO!” I saw a rogue about to go for Reagan’s throat. I dove in front of her. I screamed in pain as the rogue’s teeth clamped down onto my side then another rogue bit into my leg. Reagan’s pack quickly killed the two that were biting me. I turned to Reagan. She’d hit her head on the tree and had shifted back unconscious. I quickly put her necklace around her neck and hauled her up onto my shoulder. I told her pack members, “I’m taking her to the hospital.” They stared at me in surprise but didn’t argue.
I took off to the hospital. Hoping it was the building I thought it was. I should’ve asked Reagan for a tour the last time I was here. Thankfully, I saw people limping and being led into the building I’d been assuming was the hospital. I quickly set Reagan down, and a doctor rushed over. He looked at me, “Thank you for saving our Luna. If you’ll take a seat someone will look at your wounds.” I said, “No, it’s nothing. Thank you.” I left. I took off for Haley’s border. Hopefully she was back from wherever she was earlier. I glimpsed two black wolves running my way. I glared at the sky. I ran faster. I knew one of those wolves was likely Chase. I wanted him to know I was the Black Arrow, but not this way. Not when I was injured. I was starting to get dizzy. I came upon another fight. CHRIST! Was this going to end. I shot them quickly, surprising the wolves fighting for Cameron’s pack. He needed to train his warriors. Whoever was in charge before him did a piss poor job. They weren’t great fighters. I was jumped from behind. I screamed in pain as claws dug into my back. I put my hand around my neck to protect it as I felt more claw marks dig into me. I took a viscous bit to my forearm, and then the weight was lifted off me. I heard a snap and looked over. Heath ran back to me. He picked me up, “BA.” He said, I said, “The Hood himself. Here I was thinking a fairy would come save me.” Heath ran with me to Haley’s house.
Molly answered the door. She stared at me in surprise. “What happened?” Heath answered, “f*****g rogues. She was helping the packs that were attacked. Where is the fairy princess?” Marcus said, “She’s in the ribbon. I’ll get you a portal to your home. Let’s go. Molly the second Haley gets back…” He trailed off as Harper came into the room. Marcus said, “Brother, get Haley to the shroud when she gets back.” Harper’s eyes widened when he saw me. His horrified face was the last thing I saw before everything went dark. When I came to, I was in a bright meadow. I blinked several times. I looked around, “OH s**t! If I died from some bites from a few rogues… I am going to be ROYALLY pissed off.” I heard a laugh, “My child, you are not dead.” I turned around so fast I almost fell over. I saw a woman decked out in armor. “War Goddess?” She smiled, “You are so very smart.” I went down onto my knee. She said, “Stand child.” I stood, “What have I done that you honor me with your presence?” She smiled, “Do you even have to ask? I would love to meet all my children. I’ve even met your brother.” My jaw dropped, “WHAT?! He never mentioned it.” She laughed, “He didn’t particularly like what I had to say. You know that muscle in his jaw that ticks. He was fit to be tied.” I said, “What did you tell him? When was this?” The war Goddess answered, “Three years ago. I told him he could not kill someone. I told him he needed to do more research, but that he still couldn’t kill that person.” I said, “I wasn’t around much three years ago.” The war goddess frowned, “Yes, I am sorry for what Noah has put you through. It’s wrong of me to say, as a mother should love all her children but…. Your fairy friend is right though. He’s a troll.” I laughed, “He is.” The war goddess said, “The fairy goddess actually held an audience with me recently for another one of her children who crossed over recently.” I said, “Why?” The war goddess smiled, “For something that is silly. She had a child who requested you give someone hell, but I already know that you will.” I said, “Who asked? Who am I giving hell to? Fabian is dead. I’d never do a f*****g favor for that piece of shit.”
The war goddess laughed, “The Fairy Queen asked that you… give Cassandra Conners a hard time.” I snorted, “I’m not doing it for her. That’s just absurd. I intend to give Cassandra Conners s**t for the rest of her life.” The war goddess smiled, “As I said… it was unnecessary. Enough about fairies though. Let’s discuss you and your wolf.” I smiled, “I love him.” She smiled, “I know you do. You need to stick to your plan for him to mark you. If you come back unmarked…. many paths alter.” I frowned, “I won’t force him.” The war goddess laughed, “My child, he’s forcing himself not to mark you now. He’s biting his own arm for goodness sake. He wants to mark you. Both of your beliefs that you are doing this for the other is in your way. Stop that. Get out of your own way Lexi Scott and be happy. Mention that to your brother too. That boy…” I said, “Was his string murdered?” She smiled at me sadly, “They would’ve been great, but his second chance…. They will… well… if they can get over what’s between them… they will be happy. If not, I have another for him. I do hope this one can work out though.” I gaped. My brother had a second and third string? I said, “Was his first string murdered?” The war goddess nodded, “She was. Your brother just found out today. He is…. not happy. He was coming to see you when he saw the c*****e all around. He was desperate to find you. Try not to be too upset with him when you wake up. He worries about you.”
I said, “Why would I be upset with him?” She smiled, “He was not...nice to your wolf. He refused to let him come see you.” I sighed, “Well, when I wake up, I’ll talk to him, and I’ll go see Chase.” She nodded. “I can’t stress enough Lexi…. Be marked when you come home.” I said, “I got it. Can you tell me about my family? My mom and dad’s family.” She smiled sadly, “You and Heath have the big family you always dreamed of. None of this was meant to happen. My children were not supposed to be separated in two shrouds. Your parents were not meant to die as they did. Sometimes the path people go down is dark, and no matter what divine signs you put in their path… They ignore them.” I said, “Are you talking about my mother’s ex-boyfriend?” She nodded, “He killed his string. I gave him to her, and he ignored my gift. It was one of the many little seeds of doubt sowed between your family.” I said, “What? How?” She said, “I cannot tell you that. I can tell you that your father’s family knows that your mother’s ex killed his string. Your parents…. were led to believe it was not that person. They had false evidence it was a member of their family. Seeds of doubt crept in. It was very sad.” I said, “How do I find them?” She smiled, “Come back marked from your getaway with your wolf, and they will find you.” I said, “Why would they care if I’m marked?” She laughed, “Oh, it’s not that they care about that. It’s just that path of you being marked leads to the path where they help you. Which gets you to meet them. Try to keep an open mind. I know it hurts you what they’ve done.” I said, “They owe Heath and I one hell of an explanation.” She smiled, “They do. We will talk again, my child.”
My eyes widened, “We will?” She nodded, “Yes we will. Remember, join together with your wolf. Have him mark you, and soon. Tell your brother that I want him to be happy. His first string wants him to be happy. He doesn’t need to have this insane drive for everything to be perfect before he goes after his own happiness.” I said, “He grieved the loss of his string, and what could’ve been.” The war goddess said, “He did. He’s very angry about the whole situation, and he threw himself into protecting you. He’s determined to be an amazing leader. Which he already is. I never meant for him to feel so alone.” I cringed, “That’s my fault.” She smiled, “Not your fault. You both were trying to give the other something. You two will always be at your best when you are together. Something Noah knows.” I said, “You’re saying Noah did it on purpose? He caused a rift with us on purpose?” The war goddess smiled, “I implied that he did. He knows both of you so well. It’s part of why he wanted both Sally and you. She was not in the original plan that my devious children have going on.” I said, “This is giving me a headache.” The war goddess laughed, “Oh you will have more than a headache when all is said and done. Be careful my child. Together with your brother, your wolf, and your friends…. Those opposed to you don’t stand a chance.” With that I came back to my body. I sat up. Haley’s eyes were blazing. Heath was pacing. I said, “Heath.” He whirled and yanked me into a sitting position for a hug. I saw Sally, Ted, Harper, and Marcus here too.
I pulled back, “Wow… a few rogue bites and you call in the national guard.” Haley said, “What the f**k is the national guard?” I laughed, “Don’t worry about it.” Haley sighed, “I’ll just google it.” I studied her then laughed, “You are why Noah was blue.” Haley hissed, “He shouldn’t just be f*****g blue. He should be blue like his icy heart and writhing in the pain he put Sally through. Stupid warlock wussy f*****g whimps! We’d have had him. I messed up. I should’ve enchanted the area for ANYONE who means harm. I specified them to you, Sally, and Ted.” I said, “Hey, you didn’t mess up. I saw a few people with burns and Noah was blue. Like a smurf.” Haley said, “What on GOD’s green earth is a f*****g smurf?! He was blue like his icy f*****g cold dead heart.” I laughed. “I missed you. What on earth is the ribbon?” Haley sighed, “Alternate realities.” I gaped, “What?” Haley said, “I’m twice light bound to Eric. We are in the ribbon. We are eternal soulmates across any reality. We go into other realities at different times. Some in the future, some in the past to unite each other and fix things; then we come home.” I said, “That is the coolest thing I have EVER heard.” Haley snorted, “It’s infuckingconvient at times.” I said, “Hey, that enchantment you put on my arrows worked. I never ran out of arrows, and the warlock’s spells didn’t affect me.” Haley smirked, “Hell yes it did! Because I am that good.” She looked a little worried for a second. I questioned, “Haley?” She frowned, “It’s nothing…. That’s just more complicated. Bexley says I’m more powerful because I’ve fully accepted my fairy side.” I said, “But you think there’s more to it.” Haley said, “I think there could be. I’m looking into it.”
Heath said, “Could we have a minute guys?” Everyone nodded. They all filed outside except Haley. Heath said, “Haley?” Haley said, “I just want a hug. Then I’ll pop away.” I gave her a hug. She said, “See you Monday.” I said, “For?” Haley said, “I was invited to a meeting with you.” I frowned then smiled. “By?” Haley said, “King Arthur.” I laughed, “See you Monday then. If you can stay after for a moment. I have a question.” She nodded, “Of f*****g course I can.” She popped outside. Heath hugged me, “Why were you covered in rogue bites?” I said, “There were a lot of them. I killed over one hundred before I got bit.” Heath said, “Cameron’s pack is not well trained.” I said, “I noticed. Why is that?” Heath sighed, “Alpha Hammond, the previous Alpha, didn’t want anyone to believe they were strong.” I said, “Well, he sounds like an idiot.” Heath snorted, “He’s not too bright.” I said, “What were you doing there?”
