Who's Coming to Dinner Pt. 1

        Chase and Matt paced the floors of the office. Finally I said, “f**k it. Matt, we can’t say here. Let’s go.” Matt said, “Chase...Haley is there.” I whirled, “I DON’T f*****g CARE! Lexi wouldn’t hurt another member of the hood. Kincade said the cops just wanted to arrest her….” It clicked for me in that second. I growled, “NOAH! That rat BASTARD!” I took off with the intent to drive my car as fast as the speed of light. My dad was standing in the doorway. “Son...I don’t know what happened, but you just shook the house with… Well, what I assume was a growl or yelling. What’s going on?” I growled, “He’s trying to take her again! SHE IS MINE!” My dad’s eyes went wide. He moved out of my way and I sprinted to my SUV. Matt was right behind me. My dad surprised me when he got in the back seat. I said, “Dad?” My dad said, “Drive Chase. Matt linked me what’s happening. I’m up to date. If we need to fight alongside the Conners, for Lexi then we will do it.” He got his phone and typed a message. He nodded then said, “Cameron is coming too. We fight for our family son, and Lexi is family.” Matt said, “Haley Conners is the one who is there Frank. I doubt the Conners pack is there.” My dad laughed as I gunned it out of the driveway. My dad said, “Matthew….If Haley Conners is there, Alpha Eric will be right behind her if not with her. Quite possibly with all his brothers.” Kincade linked me, “Alpha, Alpha, Alpha, Alpha…” Over and over. I frowned then I linked back, “Kincade! Is Lexi ok?” Kincade was relieved, “Finally...Mind link is working again. I guess….” Kincade trailed off then said, “Alpha Jackson just confirmed the fake warlock cop is dead. Well, both are dead now. One by Susanna and Lexi’s hands, and the other took a cyanide cap. Noah stabbed Susanna in the back. He thought Sally would be here instead. He spilled pig's blood by the kitchen door. Lexi…” I growled, “DO NOT TELL ME SHE FELL IN THE BLOOD!” Kincade said, “She did. She held it together though and still is. The Princess…..and Alpha Conners, Alpha Jackson, and Alpha Darrin are here in the kitchen with us. Alpha Harold is leading the sweep team through the space and area. They won’t find Noah though. He used a holo port to get in an out.”

        I pulled over about ten minutes away from the space. “Chase?” My dad questioned, “Call Cameron. She’s safe. Alpha Conners is there now too with his brothers. They are sweeping the area.” My dad nodded. He picked up his phone. Cameron answered immediately, “Dad? Is Lexi ok? Is chase?” My dad said, “Cameron, she’s safe. The Conners….” Cameron said, “Are there. I figured they’d get there. It’s their territory. I want to talk to Chase. I’m still coming to you guys.” My dad said, “Yes, I think you should. We stopped about ten minutes back.”  I said, “Cameron can just go home dad.” My dad said, “Your brother is one of the few people who has always been able to calm you down. He’s just like your mother. You boys have always been that way with each other. Heaven help whoever upset both of you though, then poor Matt here had to try and keep you both calm.” Matt snorted, “Thank you for noticing Frank. It’s not an easy job.” My dad laughed, “Oh, your father could tell you some stories son.” Matt laughed and a car pulled up beside us. Cameron got out, and I followed suit. I smiled when I saw another call pull over with him. I said, “You brought two cars of warriors?” Cameron said, “Yes, I did. No one will take my brother's mate, Chase.” He handed me rolled up papers. I opened them. They were drawings made by an architect for a main house and a pack house. I looked up at him surprised, “How did you get these done so fast?” Cameron laughed, “I had them working on it since you told me your idea. I miss you big brother.” I hugged him, “I’ve missed you so damn much little brother.” Cameron pulled back, “I’ve even had them out to survey where we could build. We might even use all the houses in both territories once your mate moves in with you.” I laughed, “Why?” Cameron snorted, “Because Alpha Conners and his little fairy have caused pack baby booms in the areas they frequent.” I laughed. 

        My dad got out of the car, “What’s all this?” Matt joined smirking. I said, “Cameron and I were discussing    joining the packs, like the Conners brothers have. Cameron was just making me sweat this whole time! I thought he didn’t want to do it!” Cameron snorted, “Please. The second I told my Beta I wanted a werewolf run architect firm’s number, and Reagan asked why….It was a done deal. She’s bursting at the seams excited. We’ve missed everyone, and it works for the Conners family. Why not us? I get how it would work. I never thought I’d have a pack to run myself, Chase. I was always content to be an enforcer type for your pack. This combining packs idea gives me everything. I have my own pack, and my family with me. Who says no?” My dad laughed and hugged us both, “This is great!” Cameron said, “The firm said they could start the work in March. It would be ready by the summer.” I said, “Well then let’s sign a contract. We can split the costs. We can start working on an integration plan with the packs beforehand. I’ll set up a meeting with Alpha Conners. We will keep this amongst that group until everything is ready.” Cameron said, “Why Alpha Conners?” I said, “Because he’s the only one we know who’s done this. He didn’t want his brothers to leave his side, and they didn’t want to go either. They have a system in place for this. Why start from scratch when we can benefit from their knowledge and experience?” Kincade linked me, “Noah was not found, and the caterer friend, Susanna, is dating a vampire. She had his blood with her, given by the vampire himself, in case of emergencies.” I was speechless.

        I told everyone. My dad whistled, “She’s no pet then.” We all looked at him in surprise. He shrugged then said, “What? That’s...a vampire who is already bonded to this girl, or on the way there. They don’t just hand their blood out.” I said, “That’s a little extreme for the hood. Susanna is the girl who’s dating a vampire… It's for a mission. The Hood would never ask his people to go that far.” My dad shrugged, “Then maybe she likes the vampire. I will say I have NEVER met a vampire who let someone walk around with a vile of their blood unless they are an asset, potential child, or bonded. EVER.” Kevin linked, “Uhhh Heath Scott just got Alpha Conners all riled up. He kissed the Princess on the top of the head. The Luna….she’s upset Alpha. She needs you.” I said out loud, “I need to get to Lexi.” Kevin linked, “Alpha Harold has left, and the rest of the Conners group is about to get popped out.” I hugged Cameron, “I’m really happy about this little brother.” My dad said, “Me too. Cameron take me home, and you can lay it all out for me. Then we can tell Susie and Nadine. They will be so excited. Susie has missed you and Reagan so much.” Cameron smiled and got back in his car with dad.

         I got in my SUV. I told Matt, “Call Kevin.” Matt nodded. Kevin picked up immediately. Matt said, “Kevin, the Alpha wants to talk to Lexi. We assumed since Link was now working that the phones would too.” Kevin confirmed it, “As soon as the warlocks died, everything started working. They are damn annoying. I have learned some things. NEVER call the Princess Ma’am. Ever. If she decides to be mean to Alpha Sophia, pardon my language, but Alpha Sophia is f****d. The hood as a group are quick on their feet. Susanna convinced everyone she got her wires crossed. She asked Lexi once the vampire blood healed her if this wasn’t their murder myster lunch. Based on the murmers outside, Ted and Lexi will be doing murder mystery lunches for quite awhile. The clients are abuzz about how amazing and fun that would be. Alpha Conners still DOES NOT like people threatening his precious fairy princess, no surprise there. The Princess’ truth thing is no joke. Beta Matt, TeleTed is holding it together quite well, but….he needs you.” 

        I said, “Thank you Kevin. Give Lexi the phone. Link Ted that Matt and I are coming.” Kevin explained  quickly to Lexi and handed her the phone. The horrified and scared tenor of her voice had me gripping the wheel aggressively. I told her I was coming. She said I had work to do. f**k work. She was my mate, and she needed me. Her voice broke when she told me she’d slipped in blood. I linked Matt, “I WILL PUT HIM THROUGH THE MOST HELLISH OBSTACLE f*****g COURSE OF HORRORS I CAN FIND.” Matt winced and rubbed his head. He replied, “I’m sure the princess could help.” I said, “Brilliant. That’s just f*****g brilliant Matt.” Matt said, “Yes, thank you for noticing. Can you PLEASE stop shouting like that in my head. You do it so much more often now that Lexi is in our lives. It’s very loud.” Kevin took the phone back, “Alpha, she’s going into Shock.” I growled, “I’m almost there.” Kevin said, “Ted is calling her brother back.” I said, “Good.” I hung up the phone and threw it in the cup holder making a dent.” Matt said, “You’re happy we are going to run into her brother? That’s new.” I said, “He will keep her calm until I get there. She’s not in a good place. That f*****g BASTARD! He knows…. He knows how she found her parents. I bet this….He would’ve taken Sally. If Sally hadn’t accepted Derrick she would’ve been at the event...OH f**k. We need warriors on them now! Noah might know where Sally lives.” Matt said, “He can’t get in.” I said, “If he so much as tries I WANT him!” Matt called Derrick from my phone. 

        Derrick groaned, “Alpha….” I said, “Noah just tried to have Lexi arrested by stabbing the caterer at their event. He thought Sally would be there.” Derrick growled murderously, “MINE!” Sally gasped and cried, “Oh no! Susanna! Is she ok?” I said, “She’s fine. Lexi got to her, and seems Susanna’s vampire had her carrying his blood around for emergencies.” Derrick said, “Alpha..I will KILL this mother fucker! Sally is MINE! He f****d up his chance! She’s mine now!” I said, “Getting another chance with her doesn’t seem to be his goal, Derrick.” Derrick roared. I heard Sally speaking to him, “It’s ok Derrick. I wasn’t there. I was with you. I’m here. I’m fine.” Derrick said, “I want her additional guards at work and any event until he caught. Opal will NOT leave her side. Actually both Opal AND willow won’t leave her side. Not for a second.” I said, “Agreed. I want Sally and Ted in training in the mornings. We can set up a special routine for them, but….They need to know how to fight.” Derrick said, “I’ll have Opal, Willow, Mark, and Joanie come up with something. The warriors are NOT training my sweetie pie.” I said, “Sweetie pie? Oh Christ Derrick.” Sally asked, “Is Lexi ok? Did Ted find Susanna or….?” I said, “Lexi did. I have to go. We just got here. Derrick, warriors are coming to guard the area around Sally’s fairy enchanted house. You can stay at her place or your house on pack lands. Noah has tried to get into Lexi’s so he somehow knows where their places are. He can’t get in, and it will sound like a bomb has gone off if he tries again. Do NOT let him out of our territory if he does.” Derrick glowed, “He won’t get out if he comes.” I hung up. I told Matt as we got out of the car, “Get me a witch. A good one, and one we trust.” Matt said, “For…?” I said, “To check the damn area for holo ports. We can have guards on them if we know where they are.” Matt nodded. I ran inside. 

        I didn’t pay anyone any attention as I ran back to the kitchen. Heath was speaking to Lexi. He gave me a nod that spoke volumes. We were going to talk. Our anger united us, and nothing us mattered but Lexi. I pulled Lexi to me from Heath’s arms. As soon as she was in my arms she choked out a strangled sob. I met Heath’s eyes over her head that was not buried into my chest. His knuckles were white he was clenching his fists so hard. When Lexi pulled back. I told her I’d kill him. Matt linked, “Literally no one doubts that Chase. Not even Alpha Eric Conners who is NOT confirming you’ve met Lexi. I bet even he knows the troll is a dead man. I just know he’s taking bets on who gets Noah first. You or his wife.” Ted surprised us all telling me to get in line. Heath actually looked shocked for a second. Then he looked as if he was evaluating Ted again. Matt linked me, “No. NO. NO. NO. Ted is NOT going on missions. Heath can just wipe that look right OFF his damn face. Right f*****g now.” I said, “No, Ted isn’t going anywhere. I can’t stop Lexi, but I CAN and WILL stop Heath from sending Ted.” Lexi said Noah had a knack for survival. Ted said he’d empty a clip of bullets into Noah. I linked Matt, “He can do that. AFTER I’ve mostly killed and tortured him. Noah does NOT get a quick death.” Matt nodded to me. Lexi still looked scared that Noah would survive what we did to him. I shared a glance with Heath. We both agreed. Noah was going to die. I assured her, he was not going to survive what I had planned. Heath was GOING to tell me what Noah was afraid of. I was going to scare him almost to f*****g death. Via a fairy princess house of f*****g horrors before I tortured him within and INCH of his damn life. THEN if Ted wanted to shoot him. He f*****g could.

        Lexi smoothed out her outfit and her facial expression went into a fake happy. She said her and Ted needed to get back out there. Matt linked me, “Ted can handle it Chase. I’ll stay with him. He’s holding it together. He needs to work. Keeping busy is good for him.” I told Lexi I could take her home. She declined. Ted came over and she took his hand along with mine. Susanna looked like a proud mom. She was also holding it together. Matt linked me, “Hood members are tough.” I nodded. I was so proud of Lexi. I linked Kevin, “Get yourself and your brother back out there. She is NEVER alone.” Kevin nodded, “Yes, Alpha.” Heath turned to Susanna and told her to share her news. Matt linked me, “How the hell does he know the vampire is something important to her?” I said, “Same way we do. Vampires don’t just LET pets carry around their blood. That’s sacred to them.” Lexi was stunned Heath knew as well. Susanna sighed, and told everyone the vampire was her string. Matt linked me, “No f*****g way!” I said, “Yes way apparently.” I observed Heath. He knew. He knew that she was going to say the vampire was her string. Susanna called him Robert. Matt linked me, “Robert, as in the second of the King? That Robert?” I said, “I’m sure if we are still here come nightfall….we will find out. She didn’t give his last name. I was not surprised Susanna wanted kids first before being turned.” Matt said, “Explains why they are bonded, and she doesn’t have fangs yet.” Heath told Lexi we’d find Noah. She believed him, but she was still scared.

         Once they left Heath said, “I will destroy him. If you get him first...I want a damn turn.” I said, “Oh, I have plans to use a fairy for his own personal house of horrors. Which I need you to tell me all about.” Heath smirked, “That’s not a bad idea. Haley would love it too.” I said, “I hear you have a death wish. You kissed her.” Matt said, “Serious death wish.” Heath rolled his eyes, “On the top of her head. Her Alpha won’t kill me for that. I’m important to Lexi. Who is important to Haley.” I said, “I wouldn’t bank on that.” Heath said, “I’m not easy to kill.” I said, “He’s not easy to shake once you’re in his sights. He can be a patient man.” Heath shrugged, “Like I said. He won’t kill me for that. It didn’t upset Haley.” I said, “Would Susanna have died? From her injuries?” Heath said, “No. Haley was here and Noah didn’t stab anything vital. There are always risks though. Susanna could’ve bled out because those f*****g warlocks weren’t calling for help. I called Haley though. Haley wouldn’t have let Susanna die.” I said, “What do you have on the warlocks?” Heath said, “They didn’t have a location, but before Alpha Jackson disposed of the body I saw the mark on his neck for his coven. Isaiah is looking through our records. I will question them once I have that answer. Do not let her out of your sight Alpha Chase.” I said, “If not for my men this would’ve been worse and you know it. Haley might have been too late, and Lexi would’ve been forced to leave with them.” Heath grimaced, “I know that.” I said, “We have to find him.” Heath said, “I know that too.” I said, “Have you made any progress on the keys you and Lexi found?” Heath eyed Matt. I said, “He’s my Beta he will say nothing.” Hath said, “No. I have a few places I need to check out personally. It’s going to take some time balancing it all.” 

        Matt and I both took a deep breath then hissed, “VAMPIRE!” Heath said, “That will be Susanna’s string, but clearly you are going to go all wolf about it. I have to go.” Matt and I barely acknowledged him as we ran to Lexi and Ted. We entered the room as the vampire hissed at Lexi. I growled along with my men. Matt said, “That is in fact Robert Calgaery, the second of the King.” I linked back, “I don’t care if he’s the moon goddesses right hand, he will NOT hiss at my mate.” Lexi quickly explained that Robert wasn’t upset. Irrelevant. I let Robert know that with my stance. Robert looked amused. I linked Matt, “Why the f**k does he look amused?” Matt linked, “Vampires. What can you do?” Lexi broke down what had happened to Susanna yet again. She was going through it almost robotically. Robert hissed again about the warlocks. Seemed like a hot button for him. I linked Matt, “Does Robert not like warlocks?” Matt said, “Negative. He was almost drained in his youth as a vampire and held hostage by warlocks. His maker had to go rescue him. It took him almost a decade to recover from what they did to him.” I said, “Who’s his maker?” Matt smirked, “King Arthur.” I should’ve known. Who else would be the second? A child is the most trusted vampire to their maker. Lexi quickly told Susanna to get Robert out of there and to spend time with him. She gave Susanna permission to explain everything in detail. Matt linked me, “Anyone? Why doesn’t she just say if my brother gives you s**t, let me know?” I laughed, “Who knows?” Lexi and Susanna hugged. Matt said, “Weirdest hug ever. You and Robert could’ve let them go.” I said, “Could’ve. Didn’t.” 

        Susanna told Robert Lexi was going to put her in contact with Sharon, King Matias mate. Robert didn’t seem surprised Lexi knew Sharon. Matt linked me, “He should know. They met at the damn party held by his maker and King.” Robert said that the couple had decided not to have kids. I wondered why. Though, having kids was not for everyone. He told Suanna he would give her whatever she wanted. Matt said, “He means that. Son of b***h. Robert the butcher has a heart.” I was trying not to laugh. Robert was a well known knight in Europe for quite some time. He made a name for himself being an assassin basically for vampire kings for a price. Susanna called him sweet. I raised my eyebrows, and Matt couldn’t keep his snort in. Robert glared at him. I linked, “Good going.” Matt said, “His nickname is robert the BUTCHER. She called him sweet. Anyone else would have their heart ripped out for calling him that.” I said, “She’s not anyone else.” Out loud Matt said he never thought anyone would call the King’s second sweet. Both Lexi and Ted seemed surprised by Robert’s title. Susanna seemed quite proud. Robert told her he was taking her home. Matt said, “Not shocked she already lives in the castle.” I said, “Bonded mate.” Matt inclined his head towards me agreeing. Robert’s eyes narrowed at me as he told Susanna she’d have protection. Great. Now I was going to get a damn call from the Vampire King and his second. Susanna seemed like she wanted to work with Sally catering still. I could tell that her decision physically pained Robert. Matt said, “Damn, even vampires are whipped with their mates. Again, anyone else and he would’ve just so f**k no, and then he would vamp sped away with her.” 

        Susanna teased Robert saying it was good he made her walk around with blood in her purse. Weird but good. Naturally, Robert had a new way for her to carry his blood around. Matt linked, “Already realized the purse could be a problem. Vampires have just been around the damn block.” I said, “They have.” Neither Matt nor I were surprised when Robert was going to have a protection detail for her. The girls tried to argue Susanna was deadly. Matt linked, “Twenty bucks says he already had the interviews set up. He’s just going to use this as the leverage to get her to agree.” I said, “Not taking that. There’s no way a vampire would let his bonded be unprotected. I’m betting their bond is new, and that’s why she didn’t have someone with her.” Both Matt and I froze when Robert said Lexi was my mate. Matt linked me, “Oh shit.” Susanna was surprised. Robert smirked at my face and I growled at him to shut up. He told me I didn’t hide it well. Matt said, “He’s not wrong.” I said, “SHUT UP!” Matt sighed. Robert explained what he noticed at the club. I told him not to say anything. The threat was implied, and he’d picked it up. Robert grinned. He knew why it was a secret. He’d best keep his mouth shut about Sophia. Lexi cut in speaking to Suanna confirming I was her sting. Matt said, “This is easily the worst kept secret OF ALL TIME!” I said, “Plenty of people don’t know about it. Sophia doesn’t know.” Matt said, “Because she’s got s**t going down in her territory every five seconds.” Susanna agreed not to say anything. I guess her family wasn’t close. Robert looked murderous about it for a solid thirty seconds. Matt said, “I think her family should be glad they are in the shroud where he cannot get them.” I said, “True. He does seem to want to kill them for not being super close with their daughter.” Matt snorted, “It’s apparently a high crime.” I said, “We’d agree if our mates were hurt by that. I bet Susanna wants to be close with her family or something.” Matt silently agreed.
