Lexi called Haley. Haley quickly figured out why Lexi was asking questions about witches and breaking her barrier. To say she was insulted was an understatement. Derision dripped from her tone. I could hear Alpha Conners trying to calm her down. He kept calling her Angel, but she was not calm, not even slightly. She was completely serious when she said witches needed to be put in ditches. I couldn’t. I needed to leave. If I laughed Alpha Conners would hear me. I joined Matt outside. I was finally able to laugh. Even Kincade and Kevin were laughing. I linked Matt, “Even Alpha Conners has to be laughing at this point.” Matt was trying to relay to Ted what was being said. I didn’t even try. It was too damn funny. Matt managed to say, “She wants to go back to burning them at the stake.” That sobered me, “Where is the witch Ted shot?” Kevin linked, “We took her to the dungeons. She’s keeping Wyatt company. He arrived early.” I rolled my eyes, “Tell me they are far away from each other.” Kincade linked, “They are.” I started laughing again because Haley wanted one of her brothers to declare war. Matt linked me, “I can see it now. The fairies are at war with dark witches. A.K.A Haley kills witches while the fairy king does… nothing but be entertained.” I laughed, “That’s exactly what would happen.” Haley was going to show up at some point to make the protections stronger. Lexi said she’d join Haley in her killing witches campaign. Matt said, “Oh god… I’m terrified for team fairy and hood to unite. The dark witches need to run and f*****g hide.” I laughed, “They do. I’d bet if Haley knows the Black Arrow, Lexi does too. If those three teamed up….” Matt held his hands out. He linked me, “I can’t breathe. That is the ultimate dream team. Throw in Luna Emmaline and they would dominate. God, I want to see that.”
I laughed when Haley said she was going to booby trap the area. Kevin linked, “Thank god our future Luna clarified we could all walk around the area. Just people who mean her harm would get caught. What does a fairy consider a booby trap?” I laughed even harder. “Since being nice is growing beards and throwing people into the walls. I can only imagine.” Kevin said, “I kind of hope I get to see someone set it off.” Lexi managed to get Haley off the phone. Something told me she was going to be ranting at Alpha Conners until he managed to get her mind off this. Matt said her brothers wouldn't declare war. I was certain the Hackura wouldn’t, but King Aiden… for him it might be fun. We all laughed when Lexi admitted Haley had been trying to get the Hackura to declare war on the witches every so often since she met them. That was somehow so Haley. I pointed out her youngest brother’s mate was a witch. We’d met her, and he was already possessive of her. Lexi shrugged that off saying Haley liked her, and she wasn’t a dark witch. That was true. Lexi asked where the witch was. She asked Ted if he was ok. I linked Matt, “Why wouldn’t he be ok?” Matt said, “Ted had never shot at a person before. Just targets.” I nodded understanding. It was different. Practice versus the actual thing. Ted seemed perfectly fine though. I told Lexi the witch was secured. We have special cuffs for witches that don’t allow them to use their magic. She would talk to me before she died. She was GOING to die for trying to take my Luna.
Lexi and Ted started talking about how Noah found her place. I sighed. We needed to check her car for bugs. She pointed out her car wasn’t there because it had been tampered with. I growled in my link with Matt, “GOOD GOD! HOW WAS THAT YESTERDAY?” Matt rubbed his face, “I don’t know.” Ted said it could be his new car. Kevin and Kincade checked over the area around Lexi’s place. Matt and Ted left to check his car. I could hear them both swearing from where I was. It was Ted’s car. They must have noticed where he went and followed him to see where Lexi was going. Lexi looked at her phone and shooed us away. It must be almost time for Haley to show up. We didn’t go too far away so we could watch Ted and Lexi, but we were far enough away that Haley couldn’t see or hear us. Matt said, “What if she brings Alpha Conners with her?” I sighed, “Then we will have to leave.” Matt snorted, “You’d have to leave. I could stay.” Haley popped in alone, thank the goddess. She put her hands out and a purple glow started to come out of her hands. I said, “What is a purple glow?” Matt said, “I know just as much about fairies as you do. I don’t know, but I wouldn’t want to be the witch that tried to get past it as pissed as she is. We’d come home to fried witches. I laughed, “That’s probably true.” Haley started popping around the area. She spoke in fealish. “Is it just me, or is she talking to the grass and trees?” Kincade asked. I said, “I think she is in fact talking to the grass and the trees. I’ll never know for sure because I don’t know fealish. We’d have to track down a fairy.” Matt said, “Fuckers are so hard to catch too.” We all laughed. Haley started lamenting about all the problems she was dealing with. I sighed, “There are a lot of problems going on at the same damn time.” Matt said, “Haley does seem to get herself involved in a lot of it.” I laughed, “I don’t think that’s really a choice for her though.”
We laughed when Haley said she was going to have to be nice and ask Alpha Conners for the witch. Matt said, “Will we give the witch to her?” I shrugged, “Why not? She’ll do her thing and get us answers faster. I’ll tell him he can’t kill the witch, but he can have her until Haley is done questioning her.” Matt asked, “If he asks why he can’t kill the witch?” I said, “You want revenge for your upset mate who’s never shot anyone before. In his distress for his friend… he was forced to fire.” Matt said, “Could work. He’ll know it’s bullshit.” I said, “But he won’t say it is bullshit.” Matt said, “No, it doesn’t seem likely that he will say anything.” The second Haley popped out I shifted and ran back to Lexi. It was torture staying away from her. Matt linked me, “Have one ounce of chill there Alpha.” I ignored him. Lexi stepped outside the barrier and Matt linked, “She’s just so nice. She’s including me. I told Lexi I’d let Haley take the witch to interrogate. I can at least give her that prisoner for answers. Matt linked me, “Foot, mouth, you, inserted.” I cringed. He was right. Lexi asked about my other prisoners, so I gave her a basic answer. Matt linked, “And you said you didn’t know any fairies. They would be so proud of that evasive answer.” I rolled my eyes. Out loud Matt said we could just give them both to her. I sighed, “I want to be that guy.” Matt said, “I can be that guy.” I sighed, “For some reason I still want Sophia to be happy. I want to respect how she wants to handle this for now.” Matt said, “Sure, that won’t bite you in the ass eventually. Nope… This will be fine.” I knew it was probably right. It was late, and I wanted Lexi to myself again. Before I had to spend the day away from her. I was so tired of people trying to take what was mine.
When we went inside Lexi asked if I was ok. No. I was so far from ok you couldn’t even see it in the mirror. I should’ve had Noah. He should not be bothering Lexi anymore. He should not have gotten in and out of my territory. Lexi tried to point out she pushed him into the holloport by accident. That wasn’t her fault. She wouldn’t have known. It shouldn’t have been able to be there in the f*****g first place. I hated that Noah knew where she was now. Lexi pointed out he can’t get in, and now he had to crawl back into his hole and plan. Noah was working with witches that wouldn’t let Haley pop to him. I doubt these witches didn’t give themselves that same protections. Lexi laughed saying Haley could get the name of the coven, but that Noah just probably paid a witch for this. I really just wanted Noah to be an i***t. Was that too much to ask for? He couldn’t take Lexi from me. That was not happening. She tried to assuage my fears saying that she could take him if she had to fight him. She had better, but something told me Noah didn’t plan to play fair. I needed her. She seemed to realize that. She led me upstairs and I told her how much I loved her while I made love to her. She fell asleep almost as soon as we were done. I got up and washed myself off then her. I was about to join her when my phone rang. Heath. Great.
“Hello.” I answered. “I assume my sister was not taken by Noah otherwise you would have contacted me.” I said, “It would have been on my to do list, yes. I might have let Ted tell you, but that was not necessary. Lexi was not taken.” Heath snorted, “I have an email from Noah saying he got into her home and took her. Must have been automated.” I said, “Can’t he just be that stupid all the time? I should have reports soon about how he got into my territory without being noticed.” Heath said, “He’s fast or he could have used a contact of his. I doubt you have a traitor among you.” I said, “You do.” Heath said, “Duly noted. We already knew that. Keep my sister safe.” He hung up. I stared at my phone and mocked him, “Keep my sister safe. Oh, well I wasn’t already doing that. Prick.” I put my phone down and slid into bed next to Lexi. When Lexi got up to get ready. I checked my email on my phone. No patrol reported seeing a flash or anything run by. So either Heath was right, or someone did betray me. I just needed it to not be my dad. I linked Kevin, “Drive over one of the SUV’s. Lexi will be using it until her car is fixed.” Kevin replied, “Yes, Alpha. We will be there in five.” I wanted Lexi to have a car. I knew she could run, but she seemed to like driving her car. Once Lexi was ready, I led her outside. She gave me a look when she saw the car waiting. She tried to cover it quickly, but I knew the gesture touched her. I told her she was borrowing one of my cars. She kissed my cheek and hopped into the car. I waited until my men were with her before I turned away. “She’s never alone today.” I linked them. They both nodded. I shifted and ran back to my house. Susie was about to leave for school. She gave me a kiss on the cheek when I knelt down beside her, “Daddy is in your office. Will you be upset with me Chase if I forgive him? Lexi isn’t mad at me, and I miss him.” I smiled, “No, I won’t be mad Susie. Have a good day in school.” She smiled, “Okay!” Nadine smiled at me.
I walked into my office where Derrick, Matt, Ted, and my dad were waiting. I said, “Ted, why don’t you go to the kitchen and grab a plate of breakfast for the prisoner to get him to talk to you?” Ted nodded, “On it.” He left and shut the door. My dad said, “What’s this about?” I said, “A member of the hood got into our borders yesterday with the intent to abduct Lexi Scott.” My dad frowned, “Is she alright?” I said, “She’s fine. Are you denying that you have anything to do with this?” Derrick’s eyes shot to Matt. My dad was stunned, “You think I would do that to you?” I said, “You went behind my back to try to keep her from me. Why not this?” My dad’s eye began to twitch, “I would never hurt her Chase. Or you. I would not let anyone untrustworthy into these borders. If you need proof of that, you just told her to have a good day at school. Someone who would kidnap anyone could turn their sights to Susie or Nadine. I would never risk either of them.” I nodded, “Alright. You are dismissed.” My dad stood, “At least tell me if you believe me or not son.” I looked at him. After several moments I said, “I believe you. I believe you would never do anything to put Susie or Nadine at risk.” My dad sighed, “I wouldn’t do it to you either Chase. I still think you’re making a mistake with this girl, but I wouldn’t hurt you in that way. I’d never set someone up to get taken.” With that he left. Ted came back in with what could only be considered a buffet with a tray. He’d even put juice and flowers on it.
Matt said, “Alpha Conners is here.” I said, “Of course he is. Send him in.” Alpha Eric Conners and Alpha Jackson Conners walked in. Alpha Jackson walked in smiling. He said to Matt, “Looking forward to the awkward family dinner we are having tonight Matt.” Matt snorted. Ted paled. I linked Matt, “If he comes, I can’t come. Lexi will be there too.” Matt linked back, “I’ll handle it. I’ll tell Saied to keep him home. I need you there.” I nodded. “Alpha Conners, I’d ask what I can do for you, but I think we all know why you are here.” Alpha Eric Smiled, “Do we? Why am I here then?” I said, “You want a witch that my Beta and warriors caught. My Beta informed me that our Beta Male told him your mate wanted to take a crack at her.” Alpha Eric was trying not to laugh, “She does. She’s with our children this morning, but she wanted me to try to get answers first. Then she was going to talk to the witch.” I said, “I understand the witch was trying to hurt her friend. From our Beta Male I understand that she is friends with his business partner, but this happened in my territory.” Matt linked, “Whatcha doing?” I linked back, “Making it look like I don’t know Lexi.” Matt said, “You can’t see me, but I just rolled my eyes at you.” Alpha Eric said, “My wife is insistent. This is her way of being nice. If you say no, I’d imagine you’ll be short a prisoner soon.” I said, “So this is an ultimatum?” Alpha Eric’s lips were twitching, “Not from me, no.” I sighed, “My Beta wants to kill the witch. So I suppose if you agree not to kill her, you can take her. I have another prisoner to deal with.”
Alpha Eric smiled, “I could take him too. I’m sure Haley would delight in speaking with former Gamma Wyatt.” I snorted, “Of course you know. Do you happen to know the information we are wanting to get out of him?” Alpha Eric frowned, “I have no evidence the former Beta was involved to overthrow Sophia.” I said, “Do you think he was?” Alpha Eric said, “No, I don’t. His wife…. I’m not so sure.” I was surprised. Alpha Eric kept talking, “Alfred’s mother died after he was born. That was Former Beta Alfred Sr’s true mate. The former Beta did not wait for a second chance mate. He found a she wolf to help raise his son and marked her. Beta Alfred’s brother and sister aren’t as strong as he is. I believe the mother could be involved if she thought it could improve her children’s stature. I can’t prove that though.” I said, “We didn’t know that about Beta Alfred Sr.” Alpha Eric smiled, “It’s not well known, and if not for my wife and her feelings I wouldn’t have told you now.” I nodded, “Thanks.” Alpha Eric stood, “Thank you for your witch prisoner. She will be alive when she is returned. I cannot say in what condition. I believe my wife plans to have our children practice their powers on her.” I gaped, “Of course she does.” Alpha Eric finally laughed, “She’s one of a kind, my Angel.” Alpha Jackson waved to Matt and they left.
I nodded to Ted, “You’re up. There are guards down there. Wyatt cannot hurt you, and we will be watching and listening on audio up here.” Ted nodded and left. Matt took out his phone, “Hey Saied, it’s Uncle Matt. I need a favor.” Saied laughed, “What do you need Uncle Matt?” Matt said, “There’s a dinner I need your dad to not be at tonight.” Saied laughed, “YAY! I wanted him to come to piano practice, but he said you needed him.” Matt said, “I don’t want your dad to know I don’t want him there.” Saied giggled, “You owe me an ice cream trip.” Matt smiled, “Deal.” Saied said, “Then daddy won’t be there.” He hung up. I laughed, “If you have a daughter, I just got a glimpse into your future.” Matt shrugged, “I’ve already got a leg up on Ted then. I’ve been doing this for years with Saied. She’s a smartie pants.” We were silent as Ted entered the dungeons whistling. He passed Alpha Conners on the way out. He nodded to him. Ted walked to Wyatt’s cell. “Hey… you on the crappy cot….” Wyatt turned over staring at Ted with wide eyes. “Are you Gamma Wyatt?” Wyatt stood, “Yes.” He said, “Got your breakfast for you.” Wyatt eyed him suspiciously, “I don’t normally get that much food.” Ted shrugged, “I was told to get your breakfast. I think everyone should have some cheer in their lives. I’ve been around wolves recently, you all PUT away food like it’s going out of style. Is this not enough? I can go back and get you more?” Wyatt shook his head, “No… no... you could put it down.” Ted nodded and slid the food in. He went back and sat down. “Mind if I stay? If I got back out there my mate’s going to drag me back to bed. You guys have stamina, man. Poor TeleTed needs a break.”
Matt snorted, “No he doesn’t.” Wyatt laughed, “Can’t keep up with your girl?” Ted laughed, “You have no gay dar.” Wyatt said, “I didn’t want to be wrong. You ask a wolf if he’s gay, and he’ll take your head off if he’s not.” Ted said, “My mate ripped someone's heart out within five minutes of my meeting him so; I believe you.” Wyatt laughed, “I’ve ripped my fair share of hearts out for the one I love too.” Ted said, “Ohhh you have a mate too? Where is she?” Wyatt sighed, “My goddess given mate was killed. Rogue attack.” Ted frowned, “I’m sorry.” Wyatt shrugged, “I didn’t really even get to know her. I tried to save her, but she was too slow. My wolf was upset.” Ted said, “I can imagine. So you ripped the heart out of those that killed her?” Wyatt said, “Oh… no. I did kill them though.” Ted said, “Ohhh I see. You’ve got another special gal?” Wyatt smiled, “Yeah, but she never saw me as a serious contender for her heart.” Ted said, “You just gotta get out of here and show her!” Wyatt laughed, “You don’t know why I’m here do you?” Ted shrugged, “Didn’t ask.” Wyatt said, “I’ll get out of here and be back with my pack in a few days.” Ted said, “Ahh, the special girl is there then.” Wyatt said, “I didn’t say that.” Ted laughed, “Didn’t have to man. Your eyes lit up when you said it.” I looked at Matt, “Is he actually in love with Sophia?” Matt said, “I’m getting that impression.”
Ted said, “Well, you just gotta get out of your situation. Then you get the girl.” Wyatt smiled, “I still plan to get the girl.” Ted said, “That’s the spirit. Go with chocolates and flowers for an apology. Don’t know how long you’ve been here, but us girls want a man who’s present.” Wyatt laughed, “I used to get her flowers. She’d laugh. I’ve loved her since we were kids. Always thought she was my mate. When I was presented with an option of how to be with her for real, I jumped at the chance. That’s the moment I lost her, but not for good.” Ted said, “You lost her?” Wyatt said, “She’s upset with me. She put me in the dungeons.” Ted frowned, “Well, she didn’t kill you. So there’s that.” Wyatt snorted, “That’s true. Your Alpha would kill me in a heartbeat.” Ted said, “She must like you then. If a different Alpha would kill you and she didn’t.” Wyatt said, “Oh she does.” Ted said, “Just apologize to her then.” Wyatt said, “It’s not that simple. I’m in this plan, and I can’t get out.” Ted said, “Dude… your move is to apologize. There’s no plan when you get caught.” Wyatt said, “Still don’t know how I got caught. It was the perfect plan.” Ted said, “Nothing is perfect.” Wyatt said, “I would’ve led by her side. We would have beautiful pups.” Ted said, “Still can. You just gotta apologize. With the chocolates and flowers. Then give her time.” Wyatt said, “Time is something I don’t have.” Ted frowned, “Why?” Wyatt said, “The plans are in motion. I can’t stop them from the inside now that I’ve been caught. She’s vulnerable with me in here. I was the one who wanted to keep her around. That’s why I can’t answer your Alpha’s questions. If I die… no one can protect her.” Ted looked horrified, but quickly masked it. “That’s more reason to get back in her good graces.” Wyatt said, “I can’t. I’m in this plan until the end.” Ted said, “What’s more the end than being passed back and forth between dungeons?” Wyatt said, “Getting my own heart ripped out by the girl who’s owned it since we were two. Or watching hers be ripped out. That’s why I agreed to help them in the first place. She’s a good leader. My girl. They just refuse to see it. She’s scared. She’s got enemies everywhere and she knows it. She’s focused on me when she should be focused on the ones running free.”
Ted said “That’s a good start to a poem for forgiveness. Girls love that stuff. Come on man. I can tell you really love this girl. If I’m picking up what you’re throwing down, it’s Alpha Sophia. Tell her man. Tell her how you feel. My Alpha won’t let anything happen to her.” Wyatt said, “Like he didn’t before? There was a whole plan to kill her and take over. Did your precious Alpha even know? NO! I saved her! ME! NOT HIM! I can’t tell her what she wants to know because YOUR Alpha WILL kill me when I do. If I’m dead, there’s no one between her and them. With me still kicking the plan could work.” Ted said, “What plan could possibly work with you in a dungeon?” Wyatt said, “For me to rule with her. It would just be a figurehead thing. I’m not meant to rule, but no one would need to know that.” Ted said, “So... you really are doing this for her?” Wyatt nodded, “She’s my world.” Ted said, “Has she met her mate?” Wyatt looked away, “No. She wants too though.” Ted said, “I’m sorry man. That has to hurt.” Wyatt said, “It does. She overlooks what’s right in front of her.” Ted snorted, “Women.” Wyatt laughed, “Yeah, lucky for you; you don’t have that problem.” Ted smiled, “You strong silent type men come with your own problems.” Matt growled. I grabbed his arm, “He’s not flirting. Calm down Matt.” Matt kept growling. Ted continued, “You for example, have taken on this huge weight thinking you’re on your own. You could’ve asked for help.” Wyatt said, “I didn’t know who to trust. This came from within our own pack. I was one step away from meeting who set all this in motion with Alpha Hammond when my Sophia discovered what I had planned.” Ted said, “So you don’t know who in your pack was involved?” Wyatt said, “Oh I know who in the pack was involved. They were working with others outside the pack. I had a meeting that night, but I didn’t make it.”
