Getting Some Answers Pt.3

        I slid into her. We’d go to my house in the Virgin Islands. It was far enough from here. We both came quickly. I wasn’t sure her reason, but mine was from the events of last night. Besides, she was so f*****g tight. Lexi got up and got dressed. She stared at my hoodie on the floor a long time before asking me if Haley had seen it. The f**k? Why would Haley have seen me in that hoodie? I told her no. Then laughed, she didn’t want Haley to know we’d met because she was wearing my clothes. The princess was probably worried we’d meet soon because Lexi let it slip, she knew Reagan. We walked outside where Kevin was waiting. She asked where Kincade was, and Kevin told her he was already at Ted’s.” Kevin linked me, “He and I have been running back and forth. Making it seem like you might have two more shadows on TeleTed. Your dad has been sniffing around.” Lexi kissed me and stared at me for several moments before taking off. Kevin sighed, “I wish she was slower.” I laughed as he took off after her. I shifted and took off for my house. Susie was about to leave for school. I kissed her on top of the head, “Have fun Susie.” She smiled, “My friends are walking with me today. Mommy promised her and Daddy would walk behind us. I told her I’m a big girl now, and I can walk with my friends.” I laughed, “You are.” My dad glared at me. I ignored him and walked to my office. Matt came into my office with a grin.

        I laughed, “So you pulled Ted out of the house?” Matt nodded, “I sent the guards away and f****d him outside. All the guards are back now though.” I said, “I need to know when I can get away for a few days. I want to take Lexi to my place on the Virgin Islands.” Matt sighed, “Let me look.” He studied the calendar, “You could go the weekend before Alpha Lyon’s wedding. You could leave Friday night and get back on Wednesday. You could push to Thursday if you really wanted.” I smiled, “Done. Push to Thursday.” Matt rolled his eyes, “Fine, but I get time off to take Ted there when we have our mating ceremony.” I said, “That’s fine. When will that be?” Matt laughed, “Valentine's day. The man is a romantic, and he has ideas. He has a scrapbook, and everything.” I said, “All the single people will despise you.” Matt shrugged, “It will make my mate happy. I could give a f**k less about anyone else.” Derrick entered the office. He sat down and worked with us for about ten minutes before he shot up like a rocket. “My mate is near!” I closed my eyes. He sat down in a huff putting his head in his hands. “Now she’s not. Is my mate a f*****g fairy toying with me?” I said, “I don’t think so.” Both Matt and Derrick looked at me. I said, “I think your mate is Sally Quaid. I think you are her second chance. I could be wrong, and it could be a fairy.” Derrick said, “No… that makes sense. I want to meet her when she gets back. She will need to be wooed. My wolf and I can take it slow. I’m going to plan out dates to take her out on!” He left and I said, “It might not…” He was out the door as I finished, “Be her.” Matt snorted, “No, I think you hit the nail on the head with that one. That would make all his behavior make sense.” I sighed, “So he’ll just be crazy for a while. Sally said she was going to take things slow.” 

        Matt thought about it, “Ted told me they were going to have Haley fairy magic her a house. It’s going to be near theirs, so he should be able to be near her. She also has guards. The ones HE insisted she have. My phone beeped. I looked down.

Lexi: Sally rejected Noah. She went to the Hackura realm. Haley is fixing up her house now.  Ted and I are going to the shroud to pick up her stuff.

Me: Be careful.

Lexi: Naturally ;)

I sighed. “I don’t like this Lexi and Ted are going to get Sally’s stuff.” Matt sighed, “I’m not a fan either, but they are together.” I nodded. We got to work. We went through several pack disputes. It made the day pass by. A warrior linked me, “Fifteen rogues just attacked Alpha Cameron’s border. Luna Reagan is fighting, protecting their pups.” Matt, Derrick, and I were out the door shifting. I alerted Susie’s guards, “Rogues are attacking Cameron, be on alert!” Warriors linked, “It’s doubled. Thirty rogues.” I growled, “BOLT! Leave them behind, get to Cameron’s!” Bolt kicked it into high gear. I saw the fight happening. They were going after the pups. Reagan… My heart stopped. Reagan was fighting with two of her warriors and two of mine. She was bleeding in a few places but holding her own. Where the f**k was Cameron?! I linked him, “WHERE THE f**k ARE YOU?!” Cameron replied, “In my office. Why?” I said, “WHAT THE f**k?! YOUR WIFE IS FIGHTING ROGUES!” Cameron snarled, “WHAT?!” I said, “Thirty of them against five. Pups are in danger! MOVE YOUR ASS!” I heard a snarl. The rogues froze. Reagan took advantage, taking another down. I reached her, ripping the head of a wolf that was about to bite her leg’s head off. I growled. My pack reached the fight just as Cameron and several warriors arrived. We quickly ended the fight. Cameron shifted back, “REAGAN?!” She shifted. She had some wounds but was quickly healing. She was shaking, “Our… our pack link wasn’t working. I couldn’t even link the warriors beside me.” Cameron pulled her flush against him. 

            Matt said, “Our border patrol killed two witches and Sophia’s pack killed one.” He nodded towards a dead woman at the border with Sophia. I turned to see Sophia and Alfred. They’d just shifted back to join us. I shifted back as well. Sophia said, “We got word of a witch. I didn’t know they could stop a pack link.” Cameron growled, “Dark witches can. The kind that works with Hammond. He’s testing the borders. HE COULD’VE KILLED REAGAN!” Reagan said, “Reagan was doing just fine. Thank you though, Chase. That one was going to hurt.” I smiled, “Anything for my sister-in-law. I’m glad you’re alright Reagan.” Cameron turned to the pups, “Is anyone hurt?” They all shook their heads eye’s wide. Three little girls ran to Reagan. One handed her a large t-shirt. “I got this from behind the tree. It’s the Alpha’s I’ve seen him hide stuff there. You were so brave Luna! I want to train and be just like you!” Reagan smiled, “Well then we will work hard, and you can fight just like me.” Cameron linked me, “If you hadn’t had a patrol…” I said, “We will adjust run patrols more often.” Cameron nodded. He grabbed shorts from someone throwing me some. Seemed like a waste. I was just going to have to shift and go home. I put them on, and Cameron yanked me into a hug clapping my back. “Thank you big brother.” I laughed, “Hey, I’ve always had your back little brother.” We all got dressed and Reagan said, “Well, we need to get the pups back.” I nodded to her, and she snorted, “Get over here Chase Daniels.” I gave her a hug. She said, “Don’t think this doesn’t mean we won’t be having ourselves a chat. I’m on your schedule for next week.” I laughed, “I look forward to it.” She nodded and backed away. Cameron pulled me into another hug. He linked me, “I have never been so scared.” I linked, “I know. Lexi got stabbed the other day. I was a wreck.”

            Cameron yelled, “WHAT?!” I looked at him and Reagan turned around, “That was very loud Cameron. What are you two talking about?” Matt spoke, “The incident with Sally Quaid. Lexi Scott got stabbed protecting her. Ted was a wreck.” Reagan's eyes went wide, “But she was fine last night… Haley.” Matt said, “Yup, Haley.” Reagan nodded, “Thank god. I really like her.” She gave me a pointed look. I said nothing. Cameron linked me, “Were you ok?” I linked, “Depends on your definition. I almost killed her ex on the street in broad daylight.” Cameron said, “So no. That’s not ok. That is not ANYONE’S definition of ok big brother.” I shrugged, “Would’ve solved a problem or five.” A warrior of mine came sprinting up to us and they shifted, “Beta Matt, you have an urgent call in the office.” I frowned, “Go Matt. I’ll be right behind you.” Matt nodded and ran. I said, “Sophia, Alfred, thanks for the assist.” Sophia nodded, “Of course. Alpha Cameron. Good to see you. We will increase our border patrols with you.” Cameron nodded, “We will as well. Thank you both.” Alfred said, “Witches. Well Dark witches. Messing with a pack link for god's sake.” I agreed. Derrick and I lead our warriors back to our territory. We shifted and I linked them, “You all did a great job. You alerted three packs, and saved injuries. Great job. I am proud of all of you.” All of them preened. I was going to have to give my dad and Isaac a kudo too. These were their new trainees. With a seasoned warrior running patrol but still. They fought well and raised the alert quickly. We took off. Matt linked me, “GET IN HERE!” 

            I frowned, “We are on the way.” Matt linked, “FASTER!” I said, “What’s wrong?” Matt didn’t say anything. I ran, I linked Derrick, “We need to get back faster.” We got inside to find Matt was pacing. I said, “Matt?” Matt said, “I just had a very bad call.” I said, “And?” Matt said, “Ted found his mother in their house. She’d been attacked. Ted called me in a panic. I don’t have the princess’s number. She’s dying. Anne is dying” I frowned, “Lexi and Ted have her number.” Matt said, “Lexi went off with Heath. Ted’s cell is dead. He doesn’t have her number memorized.” I dialed Alpha Conners. Which Matt absolutely had the number to. He must be feeling Ted’s anxiety. “Alpha Chase.” I said, “Our Beta Male’s mother has been attacked in the shroud. He needs Haley. He’s beside himself.” Haley said, “Popping to Ted.” I heard a pop. Alpha Jackson said, “Well, they are both gone now...Your Beta male’s mother will be fine. Haley will save her.” Matt said, “I hope it’s not too late.” Alpha Jackson said, “I’m sure she’ll be alright.” We were all on pins and needles for what felt like hours. Our phone rang, “Alpha Chase Speaking.” I heard Alpha Conners say, “Ted’s mother is healed. She has no recollection of who attacked her. Haley said she was drugged. His mom said she knows she found something important, but she cannot remember what it is.” I said, “I can’t imagine the hood will take that lightly.” Alpha Conners said, “He is angry. He had a prisoner… who is missing. It’s presumed he is behind this, though no one knows why.” I growled, “What prisoner?” Alpha Conners said, “My wife calls him a f*****g troll. She tried to pop to him, and she got thrown back. He’s got some sort of protection. My wife’s disdain for witches grows. She’s going to talk to Logan’s mate and see if she can bypass the protection.” 

            Matt said, “Is Ted alright? I’d come to him, but I can’t get in without him. How the hell did you get in?” Alpha Conners said, “I have no idea. Haley just popped us in. Like she normally does.” I growled, “Anyone sees Noah Calver and he’s to be killed. Don’t even bother bringing him to me. If they see him, he better die. I want his dead f*****g head!” Alpha Conners said, “He’d be an i***t to appear in your territory or mine. Any of our allies actually. Unfortunately, despite what my wife says…. the f*****g troll does not appear to be a complete idiot.” I heard Haley yell, “The TROLL is a f*****g egotistical prick infested JACKASS! He IS NOT this smart. He obviously has help. This would NOT have happened if Bjourn wasn’t on a mission yesterday and he could’ve simply agreed the troll had FINALLY caused a problem I could’ve killed him for. f**k HIS TIMING! f**k HIM! I f*****g HATE HIM! I FREAKING TOLD YOU ALL I SHOULD’VE JUST KILLED HIM! AHH!” She screamed. Alpha Conners said, “One of her friends showed up when we got here. She was distraught. It has greatly upset my wife to see two of her friends so upset.” I closed my eyes, “Alright. We are waiting for Ted. Matt is here for him.” Alpha Conners said, “They are fussing over Ted’s mom at the moment. She is not having any of it. I give it an hour tops before she kicks us all out.” I heard what must be Heath’s non-distorted voice. It was hard as ice, “He will pay Anne. I swear it to you if he had anything to do with this. He WILL die by my hand. WHOEVER did this to you WILL die.” Alpha Conners said, “I’ve got a lot of murderous people to f*****g deal with. I’ll call you later Alpha Chase.” Before he hung up, we heard him say, “Angel…” 

            Matt threw his phone against the wall. Derrick said, “And that is why I got your BOTH otter boxes. You would’ve destroyed a phone, again. I used to have a desk FULL of phones for you two.” Matt growled, “I can’t even be there for him because I’m not supposed to know where the damn shroud is. Plus, I can’t enter without him! Damn fairy’s being able to get everywhere. WE NEED A FAIRY CHASE! I’m GOING TO GET US A DAMN FAIRY IF IT KILLS ME! SOMEONE GETS A FAIRY!” I paced with Matt. Derrick said, “I’m going to go. You two have fun pacing.” An hour later a pop sounded. Haley waved before she popped out. Ted ran into Matt’s arms, “It was awful Matt! Her head was bleeding. There was so much blood. I know the princess brought her back from near death. Her heartbeat was so slow. If I hadn’t gone to see her…You told me she missed me or I wouldn’t have stopped by...” Matt cut him off, “You did. You did go see her. She’s fine now.” Ted cried into Matt’s shoulder. My phone beeped. 

            Lexi: Whenever you are free. I’m at my house. I need you.

            Me: I’m practically there. 

I checked my watch, and my dad wouldn’t be able to follow me because Susie was just getting out of school. I ran out the front door. I shifted and ran to Lexi's. I threw the front door open and slammed it shut. I heard the water running upstairs. I ran upstairs taking the steps three at a time. I heard her sobbing. I ran into her bathroom and picked her up off the shower floor. I sat down and pulled her into my lap. “It... looked….so…. much….like...I...just….saw….the blood…..and Haley’s….glow…” I winced. She’d flashed back to finding her own mother. I hands curled in frustration thinking that had to have been what Noah was going for. He wanted to cause Ted and Lexi pain. I reached up to turn off the water. I carried her out to get a towel. I winced when I saw her face. She was pale and in shock. I was going to take care of my mate. Noah Calvert’s days were numbered. He’d never make Lexi look this way again.
