I walked around the furniture store and picked out things I thought looked like Lexi. I had it all put in the truck I brought with me. I headed to Lexi’s. She should be home soon. I unloaded everything and took off my shirt. Lexi, Kincade, and Kevin shoved up minutes later. I dismissed them and kissed Lexi. God, I’d missed her. She told me to get to work essentially. I didn’t need her help moving anything, but I wanted to do this with her. She helped me with the bed and dresser. Then I moved everything by myself. I kept getting distracted by the smell of her arousal. I put everything where she wanted it. She said me or someone that worked for me had good taste. Like I’d let someone picture what her bedroom looked like. She seemed pleasantly surprised I’d made the effort. I needed to shower. I was hoping she would join me. She jumped on my back and bit my neck. I was standing at attention. She was role playing. I could be the furniture moving man. She gave me my deadline and I ripped out her clothes. If we hadn’t been role playing, we’d have been caught. She was too damn irresistible for her own good. Lexi got out of bed when we were done and walked into her bathroom. Looks like I was going to get my shower. Lexi seemed deep in thought, so I asked what she was thinking. She smiled and said the future. She was my future. She agreed. That was good. Bolt sighed, “Please mark mate.” I shut him out again. I told her not to get shot at again, but if she did ducking was a good option. She rolled her eyes at me. I took her again and again. We’d managed to get a couple hours of sleep this time.
When I woke up, I smelled candy in Lexi’s nightstand again. She was hoarding candy in that thing. She must have a sweet tooth. When we walked outside, I asked what her favorite candy was. Her puzzlement was so cute. She must not know how good my sense of smell was, and that I’d caught onto the fact that she kept a stash in her nightstand. She liked dark chocolate. I did too. She added m&m’s and crunch bars. M&M’s that had to be what I smelled. She must like the little ones. I walked outside stopping when I saw her car. I linked Matt, “The vampire king knows where Lexi lives. DOES ANYONE NOT KNOW AT THIS POINT?” Matt linked back, “Ow. Good morning to you too. We ran into the Vampire King as he was returning the car to the office. Ted and I brought it back. The vampire king does not know where she lives. Please find an ounce of chill.” I said, “You find some chill.” Matt said, “I have chill. YOU have none when it comes to Lexi.” I said, “Oh because you are chill about Ted?” Matt snorted, “More chill than you have about Lexi.” I said, “Keep telling yourself that. You RIPPED out a man’s heart for him.” Matt said, “True, but you’ve thrown MULTIPLE people through a sliding glass door.” I said, “It’s a stupid glass door that’s not very well placed.” Matt said, “Oh yes, a wall would be better there. Then you could throw people through that.” I said, “Might hammer the point home better.” Matt said, “Naturally. No one thinks you're crazy. That’s not a thing people think.” I said, “I’m not crazy.” Matt answered, “I don't think you are. Most of the time.”
Lexi stepped outside her house ecstatic to see her car. I couldn’t help my smile. She was so damn cute. I told Lexi about Ted and Matt’s date. I didn’t want her to think Ted had worked that late. She’d probably think he and Matt were fighting or something. When she said they probably had fun, guilt hit me hard. I should be able to take her out. I shouldn’t be hiding her. I wanted to give her the world. She instantly took the blame. It may be her choice not to know, but it was my situation that put her in that position. She wanted to do a weekend night out at my club. Done. I could do that. I could give her that. She seemed surprised. I had no idea why. I’d do anything for her and shutting my club down on a weeknight to have fun with our friends that knew about us was a very small thing. She left for work. Ted was leaving as I arrived. I said, “What’s Lexi’s favorite flower?” Ted smiled, “Red Roses. Why is there a guy harassing me about paint chips and which color I like best? He’s VERY insistent I answer all his questions ranging from carpet, paint, and furniture.” I smiled, “I forgot that I’m having an office space done here for you guys so...one day should you all want to do work from home days…. you can. Here. I told him to get your input on everything.” Ted laughed, “Well...my opinion has changed. I have to track him down and apologize.” I smiled, “Get things for Lexi too. I want to surprise her.” Ted evaluated me, “You really do love her.” I said, “More than anything.” Ted said, “Good. Now, off to hunt down this poor soul who was decorating an office with minimal TeleTed input.” I laughed, “I’m also putting you in charge of my costume for Beta Dylan’s wedding.” Ted clapped, “You are in such good hands. I love it around here.”
The week passed by quickly. Before I knew it...Friday was upon us. Haley had sent the witch I’d wanted to kill back to us. Apparently, she was ready to die. I killed her quickly because she looked like she’d been through the ringer. She didn’t know anything about Noah’s plan. I wanted to focus on other things. For my date with Lexi I’d already sent instructions to my staff. I wanted candles and red roses everywhere. They asked if I wanted flower petals too, and I told them why not. Ted was pacing in the main hall when I arrived. I wasn’t sure why he was here. We didn’t have Wyatt anymore. I said, “If you’re curious Wyatt did give a name to Sophia. It’s one on her list so slowly but surely getting confirmation.” Ted said, “Huh...oh no. I’m… I get anxious before Lex’s missions.” He could join the club. Or rather I’d be joining his club. “You know she’s great, and she’ll be fine. I just worry about these missions more because you know...she’s killing someone maybe multiple someone’s. They could fight back. We’ve got people trying to kill her while she’s trying to kill people…. it’s all very complicated.” Ted kept talking and I linked Matt, “Your mate is broken. Please come fix him.” Matt said, “Uhh...what? I’m Coming.” I listened to Ted again, “She’s getting her cryptic texts from the hood. She’s being all secretive which is weird. She normally tells me about these things. I normally know what she’s doing. My anxiety is so high right now. The only logical conclusion I can come to is it involves something with you people, and that’s why she can’t tell me. You said there’s some big thing going down. Why would she be involved though?” My heart dropped. Lexi wasn’t lying when she said she had to miss the wedding. I knew that. She wasn’t going to be at Alpha Lyons… So… Where? Matt came in and calmed Ted down. The answer hit me like a knife to the gut, Cameron. Alpha Hammond was involved. I’d been worried about Sophia when I SHOULD have been worried about my brother. Did the hood have information he would be attacked?
Ted left and went to work. I ran to my office and called my brother. I didn’t even care that my dad was in my office with Derrick looking at me like a crazy person. Cameron answered on the first ring, “Chase. Long time no talk. I haven’t decided about the pack….” I cut him off as Matt stepped in. He gave me a knowing look. He’d arrived at the same conclusion, “I don’t care about that Cameron. I think you’re in danger. You and your pack.” Cameron said, “What?” My dad stiffened. I said, “Lexi has a mission tomorrow night.” Cameron said, “Oh believe me I know. I’ve heard you have anxiety about it.” I said, “Not the point. Ted was here and he mentioned she couldn’t tell him about it. That’s making him anxious because apparently, she ALWAYS tells him. He pointed out the only reason she couldn’t tell him is because…” Cameron sighed, “His new affiliations. You think Hammond plans to attack me during the wedding, and that Lexi is supposed to stop it?” I said, “It makes sense. His pride is hurt. He wants Luna Emmaline and his pack back.” Cameron sighed, “I can’t miss the wedding. I’ll have to leave my Beta here.” I said, “We will send you warriors.” My dad said, “I’ll come.” We both said, “No.” I continued, “I need you here dad. Susie is so excited about her Halloween outfit and the party. You have to be here dad.” He reluctantly agreed. Cameron and I hammered out details. How many of my warriors would be with him, and how many of his could fight. We might need more. I called Alpha Conners.
“Alpha Chase.” Beta Caleb answered. I sighed, “I need to speak to Alpha Eric, Beta Caleb.” Beta Caleb said, “He’s between meetings. I’ll grab him.” Alpha Eric Conners said, “Alpha Chase… This is a surprise.” I said, “We have reason to believe Cameron’s pack might be attacked tomorrow night too.” Alpha Eric said, “Makes sense. What do you need?” I sighed in relief, “I’m sending him warriors… but I was hoping that you…” Alpha Eric cut me off, “How many more do you need?” I smiled, “We have seventy-five with mine and his men. Not all of his men are quite up to the level of fighting we need.” Alpha Eric said, “I’ll send thirty of my men. I’ll put an additional twenty on the border. If they are needed my men will link them.” I said, “Thank you.” Alpha Eric said, “We are allies Alpha Chase. Should you need something from me all you have to do is ask. I know that’s easier said than done when you’re trying to assert yourself in the Alpha position. I am sounding board. I was once in your shoes at the stage you are in. You don’t have to know everything. We are in packs and have allies for a reason. If Cameron fell that would not be good for anyone. My wife would be upset. She quite likes your sister-in-law. That in and of itself is reason enough to let anything happen. It’s never good for anyone when she’s upset.” I laughed, “That will make Reagan happy. She wants to be your mate’s best friend. Thank you, Alpha Eric. For everything.” We hung up.
I looked at the time. The day flew by me. I needed to get ready for my date. My dad said, “Still waiting for an answer on why Lexi isn’t here with you.” I said, ‘I hope you enjoy waiting. We just started dating dad.” My dad frowned, “Your mate should be here with you.” I said, “Still haven’t said she’s my mate.” My dad raised an eyebrow, “You still don’t have to. Will you at least let me apologize to her? I started my relationship with my future daughter in law on the worst possible foot.” I said, “No.” I Left. I heard my dad sigh. I put on nice slacks and a buttoned down shirt. I quickly got in my car and drove to my restaurant. When I got there the staff was anxious for my approval. I turned the corner. I smiled. “It’s perfect thank you all.” They all seemed relieved. One timidly asked, “Is it true Alpha Chase? Is she our future Luna?” I said, “Where did you hear that?” Everyone dispersed except the girl who asked me. She said, “Everyone said it has to be because you fought your dad for her.” I said. “To be fair. That was more than about her.” The server said, “Just so you know as a female…. I pick up on what’s not being said. I got it.” I rolled my eyes as she left, “That gets you all in trouble you know? You think men say things we didn’t say.” She said, “Whatever you say Alpha.”
I answered a few emails while I waited for Lexi to show up. Kincade linked me, “We are leaving her office. The Luna looks beautiful.” I smiled, “Of course she does.” Matt linked me, “You are not ready.” I said, “For what?” Matt said, “I’m not allowed to tell you. You will know shortly though.” I laughed, “Some help you are.” Matt said, “Simply following my Luna’s instructions.” I laughed, “Enjoy your evening Matt.” Matt said, “I’d say enjoy yours, but I know you will.” I heard the car pull up. I stood up from the table waiting for Lexi to come inside. The hostess turned out to be the girl who asked if Lexi was her Luna. I almost went to my knees when she came around the corner. She looked stunning. Something told me…. Haley was behind this dress somehow. I was going to have to subtly send her a gift basket for something. I linked Matt, “How can I give Haley Conners a gift basket for this dress?” Matt snorted, “Ted said Haley discovered Pinterest. There are two more dresses they didn’t look at yet. Under the guise of wanting her to like you Chase? I don’t know.” I said, “You think about that. This dress needs a gift basket.” Lexi had paused. Her eyes were wide looking around. I couldn’t look away from her if I tried. Her dress hugged all her curves. Her boobs were a beacon beckoning me to never look away from them. A smile lit up her face. The hostess linked me, “Your drooling over our future Luna.” I didn't even look at her, but I wiped my mouth. She wasn’t joking. I was honest to god drooling. I managed to tell Lexi she looked amazing. There were no words. She was still stunned about the decor. I gave my staff credit. They did an amazing job.
She was about to cry. I pulled her into me. I didn’t want her to cry. I kissed her lightly. I forced myself to back away. I wanted to take her on this table. That was a moderate problem since I’d shut the place down. I could easily order everyone out. I wanted to do this right though. I wanted her to have the perfect date. I forced myself away from her lips. She told me the dress was from Haley and she’d discovered Pinterest which Ted had already told Matt. I looked her up and down. I thanked the moon goddess for my perfect mate. I didn’t deserve her, but I’d do everything I could to make her happy. I pulled her chair off for her and walked to my seat. We both ordered the same thing. I told her again how beautiful she looked. She said I looked handsome. I couldn’t hold a candle to her. We laughed and talked through dinner. When dessert came, I slid my car over. I fed her every single bite. Shifting in my seat with her little moans. I was fairly certain she was doing it on purpose. The second she swallowed the last bite I had her out of the chair and out to door. I linked the staff, “Thank you. Have a good evening.” They all responded, “Our pleasure Alpha.” I drove as fast as I could to Lexi’s place. I almost pulled over about a dozen times. I could do this. I could make it Lexi’s place.
I pulled her out of the car and decided that the yard of her place counted. I couldn’t resist her lips anymore. I slid down her and pulled up her dress. I needed to taste her. I slid my hand up only to be greeted by nothing. f**k ME! She wasn’t wearing underwear all damn night! I inhaled and licked her c**t. She moaned my name, and that was it. She was screaming my name. I couldn’t stop until Matt linked me, “The entire pack gets its. Lexie may be all ‘Don’t stop Chase please’…. but the rest of us want you to STOP AND GO INSIDE! Seriously! INSIDE!” I smirked and came out from under her dress. I picked her up and ran inside. Matt linked, “We all thank you.” I linked back, “Watch it or we will go back outside.” Matt snorted, “They’d hear you two all the way over in Alpha Conners territory. I swear that man has to have ALL his damn people avoiding our border with them.” I said, “So what if he does? Goodnight Matt.” Matt was grumbling but I shut my link down. I set Lexi down and slowly took her out of her dress. She wasn't wearing a bra either? It was official she wanted to kill me. There was no other reason for this. She asked if I saw her dress. Saw it? I was planning to build a shrine to it. I was f****d for whatever wedding dress she picked out. I’d have to have Haley conjure her multiples because I’d probably destroy it. I set out to worship her the way she deserved. There was no inch of her I didn’t kiss. She was perfect and she was very much mine. I fell asleep perfectly content holding her to me.
When we woke up dread was all I could feel. She’d be in danger today. Without me. Again. I was taken by surprise when she said she was coming home with me today. She was coming? I needed to tell my dad to make himself scarce. Lexi said she would go start breakfast. I linked Matt, “Lexi is coming to help Ted set up.” Matt said, “Cool.” I said, “Are you at the pack already?” Matt said, “Just pulled up with the supplies.” I said, “Let my dad know Lexi is coming.” Matt said, “The reason you aren’t telling him is because…?” I said, “Because he will lecture me about her. I’ll ignore him. It’s a thing we do now. Just tell him.” Matt sighed, “Telling your dad not to be near Lexi.” I headed downstairs. Lexi was dancing around as she cooked. I silently pulled out my chair and watched her. Matt linked me, “He’s pissed.” I said, “Don’t care.” My dad linked me, “Why won’t you just let me apologize to Lexi? I’ll leave her alone after that.” I ignored him. He linked, “Chase, Please. I am sorry. I miss you, son.” My heart clenched. I missed him too. I pushed that aside. I focused on Lexi dancing as she made our breakfast. She turned and I told her she danced around the kitchen. She said heath said the same thing, but she didn’t know if it was true. It was most definitely true and completely adorable. She encouraged me to try her pancakes. They were fluffy perfection. Her time in France was well spent with her chef neighbor. We both ate quickly. I could tell she was anxious to get everything else set up. Ted was waiting with a bright smile for her.
Matt linked me, “Come on. Let’s go.” I said, “Where are we going?” Matt raised an eyebrow, “You are going to get in a workout. You have so much energy I want to dance.” I sighed. He was right. I nodded to Kincade and Kevin who were coming in. I linked Nadine, “Ted and Lexi are setting up for the Halloween party. I’m sure they’d love your help.” Nadine linked, “Really? You think they would?” I linked, “I do.” Nadine said, “I’m on my way!” I could tell she was excited. We worked out for a few hours before Matt said, “Ted linked. They are almost done.” I hit the shower and grabbed some clothes. We walked back into the school. The pack was all trying to sneak a peek at Lexi. I rolled my eyes. I smiled as I looked around. They’d done a great job. Everything looked great. Everyone was buzzing with excitement. I wrapped my arms around Lexi. The pack link was basically screaming in excitement, so I blocked it out. I asked if she had time to eat lunch. Everyone leaned in waiting to hear her answer. Matt linked, “Dear Moon goddess…. please let her have time. For us all.” Lexi nodded her head. I was relieved along with Ted, Matt, Nadine, and several teachers. I guess my anxiety was catching on in the pack. I took Lexi’s hand and led her up to the house. Nadine linked, “Your dad took Susie on a walk.” I smiled, “Thanks.” Nadine smiled, “I’m going to join them.” I said, “Have fun.” We all ate lunch together. I couldn’t help but think this was how it was supposed to be. Once Derrick met his mate if it was Sally, we’d all be here together as we should be. A pack member walked in, “Cameron is on the phone. They were just attacked by ten rogues.” I kissed Lexi. I told her I had to go handle something. She said she had to go anyway. Ted stood to go with her. They ran out of the room. I couldn’t move.
Derrick said, “Chase…. Cameron’s on the phone.” I stared at the door. Panic had gripped me. She was going out tonight alone. She could get hurt. I’d never know. I’d have to depend on her brother to tell me. What if she didn’t come back? Matt snapped his fingers in front of my face as my dad, Nadine, and Susie walked in. Matt said, “Earth to Chase. Cameron...waiting on the phone. Lexi is still with Ted.” I cleared my throat and turned. Not before I saw my dad's worried expression. I pushed that aside. I didn’t have to worry about him. Lexi was taking up all that space in my head. I walked into my office, “Cameron. Are you alright?” Cameron said, “I’m fine. Were you in Sophia’s territory? Slowest walk to the phone ever.” I said, “Lexi was here. She left.” Cameron said, “She’ll be ok.” I said, “We don’t know that.” Matt said, “We know Ted she’s one of their best, and that her brother doesn't want her to get to hurt.” I said, “Anyway. Cameron do you think these rogues were a test?” Cameron said, “I do. One shifted back before I killed him and said this is the beginning.” I said, “Well my warriors nor Alpha Conners aren’t there yet. I’ll send mine now. They won’t be able to get a read on the pack since my men will come now then Alpha Conners will arrive before the wedding.” Cameron said, “Problem handled. Are you ok?” I said, “No, and I won’t be until I see her tonight. f**k! IF I see her tonight. We didn’t talk about when I’d see her next.” Matt said, “Ted said she’d be back tonight.” I closed my eyes. I couldn’t focus.
Derrick said, “You need to get your game face on Chase. You’ll have your own problems tonight.” I growled. Ted walked in. That meant she was out there. Cameron said, “My men are reporting seeing blurs running around. One swears they saw people climbing trees.” Ted said, “That would be us.” Cameron said, “Why would they care about my pack?” Ted said, “Me.” He didn’t expand so I asked, “You live here.” Ted said, “If your brother fell that would affect you. We’d have a border with someone who was not a friend. I wouldn’t be safe. The hood takes the safety of his people seriously.” Of course he did. I said, “Blurs?” Cameron said, “At least five.” Lexi was close enough. It could be her. I looked at Ted, “Could she be there?” Ted said, “She could be. It makes sense and it doesn’t. Lex doesn’t tend to work more than one other person, but it would explain why she couldn’t tell me.” I linked my men, “Get to Cameron’s.” They responded, “Yes Alpha.” I said, “My men are coming for your border Cameron.” Cameron said, “I’ll go see if I can’t pick up her scent.” Ted snorted. I said, “What?” Ted said, “When our people go out their scents are concealed. Fairy charm.” I groaned, “Great.” Cameron said, “My pack won’t fall Chase. I’m leaving good people here. I’ll make sure everyone knows to protect the blurs of hood members.” I said, “Alight.” Reagan said, “What are you coming tonight as Chase?” I looked at Ted who smirked, “He’s Romeo.” I laughed. Then asked, “Reagan what are you guys?” Ted blurred out and came back with my costume. It was grey pants with a blue jacket. I nodded. It looked good.
