Plan B Pt. 1

Lexi followed Chase out of the building in a daze. I got into the car and looked out the window as we passed everything on the way to my house. I sighed thinking over my conversation with Bolt. Was I ready to be marked? My heart said yes. My head said there were too many unknowns right now. I wondered if this is how Chase felt having a wolf. Having two pieces of yourself at war with each other. At least my head and heart didn’t talk to each other. I was so deep in thought I didn’t realize we’d made it my house until Chase opened my door and carried me upstairs. Being in his arms felt more right than anything. I was scared Noah was going to snatch this all away from me. We were all fighting, but it felt like we were out of our depth. Maybe Susanna could help. She could run things through with her Vampire. Vampires had been around long enough to have seen it all. I was trying to remember things about King’s and their second’s. I was fairly certain to be either as a vampire you had to be at least one century old. Maybe he could help us with a strategy. Or at least, me and my friends. Chase laid me down on the bed, and walked into the bathroom. When I heard him turn on the tub I wanted to cry. He was the sweetest man alive. The very real fear of being taken from him, from my friends was nagging at me. If Haley could get taken….so could I. They couldn’t f**k my brain up though, and Haley would come for me. As I would’ve come for her. Damn Heath for not telling me about that! Noah knows that though. He’d be ready for Haley, but he doesn’t know this Haley. Nor does he know this me.          All these thoughts were going through my head as I followed Chase into the bathroom. I got in and Chase got in behind me. I told him we were behind on the plans. He didn’t understand, but when I explained I could feel his body stiffen in response to my observation. Chase said he’d never let Noah have me. It seemed physically painful for him to add that if Noah took me then he’d call everyone. He’d never stop looking for me. He’d tell everyone who I was to him. I needed him to say he’d never give up. Noah would taunt me saying Chase didn’t care about me anymore if he got me. I needed Chase to tell me he’d never stop looking so I’d know. So I’d have something to hold onto. Chase turned me to face him. He said he wouldn’t. I searched his eyes and everything in me relaxed. He meant it. There was no part of him that would stop looking for me until I came home to him. My brain was shutting off. My body needed to rest. I thought about how much I loved Chase before I passed out having no fear that Chase would take care of me. When we woke up on Sunday Chase brought me breakfast in bed. Once we’d finished eating, we were buried inside each other. I couldn’t get enough of him. I was moderately concerned that I could very well be addicted to him. It felt better every time he slid into me. He said today would just be us. I had my doubts, but we ended up spending the whole day together with no interruptions just as he said we would. It was one of the best days I’d ever had, and that was not a low bar. I’d had some amazing days with friends, and past lovers. This took the cake. I’d never felt so loved by a man in a relationship ever before. Not that I really had many relationships. I’d had some where the guy thought we were more than we were. Even though I’d said it was just s*x. God, that led to some awkward conversations.          When Chase walked me to my car the next day and left, Kincade and Kevin got in. I started driving, and noticed we were being followed. I started doing evasive maneuvers. Kincade laughed, “Those are our brothers following us that you just lost.” I said, “If you can link them….did I really lose them? Seems like a game I couldn’t win if you two are in my car telling them where we are. That’s cheating.” Kevin laughed. I asked, “Why are your brothers following us?” Kincade said, “The Alpha wants extra guards on you and Sally.” I said, “Sally, I agree with. I’m kind of amazing at kicking ass if you all didn’t notice.” Kevin said, “Yesterday got to him. If Noah had been waiting in the kitchen he could’ve fought with you and led you towards the holo port before we noticed.” I frowned. Why didn’t Noah do that? I shook myself. It worked to my advantage. Plus, Noah wasn’t one for deviating from his plan. It could’ve shaken him that he’d stabbed Susanna instead of having Sally to kidnap. That had to be the plan. Kidnap Sally, and leave a note for me to find her. I’d have taken off after them too. It would’ve worked. Crap. Once we got to work two guys probably a year or two younger than me walked up. They were obviously Kevin and Kincade’s brothers. One smiled, “You’ve got skills little Luna.” I rolled my eyes, “Is that common knowledge now?The Luna part?” I asked Kincade. Kincade said, “We had to tell Ken and Kyler.” I said, “You’re kidding me. Kevin, Kincade, Ken and Kyler. Are there more of you running around?” One of the news guys stuck his hand out. “The name’s Ken. There are more of us Little Luna. There’s Kingston, Karter, and Kayla.” I said, “That’s a lot of K names.” Kyler laughed, “One our mother had Kincade then Kevin...she stuck with it.” I said, “How old is Kayla?” They all replied, “Fifteen.”          I smiled, “Three more years of peace for you then. Unless of course she’s dating now.” They all snarled, “No!” I laughed, “Poor thing. Six protective older brothers. I only have one and that’s a headache sometimes. They all pouted, “We aren’t that bad.” Kyler said. I laughed, “I’ll just bet you are.” They split off except for Kevin and went into their office. Kevin followed me into mine. I said, “Are you hanging out with Ted and I today?” Kevin said, “One of us will always be in your office now. We will take turns.” I nodded. Kevin said, “We also installed a panic button in your office. Let me show them to you.” I laughed, “Them?” He said, “Them.” There was one under my desk, one was a picture frame and the other was under all the chairs. I said, “You guys don’t mess around.” Kevin said, “With your safety….No we do not. We will add Kyler and Ken to the text alert system. An alarm sounds in our office, but we also get an emergency alert on our phone. I raised an eyebrow, “Kevin...what EXACTLY are your roles in Chase’s pack?” Kevin smiled, “It’s your pack too. Kincade is the Lead warrior. I am arguably the second best warrior.” I gaped, “So this whole time the pack has been without their two best warriors because you’re following me around? That’s not good!” Kevin smiled, “Lexi….if something happened to you, Chase would be of no use to the pack. The strongest fighters are Alpha Chase, Beta Matt, and Gamma Derrick. Followed by Former Alpha Frank, Former Beta Isaac, Nadine, and Isabella. Kincade followed in our father’s footsteps and challenged to be the lead warrior after he graduated high school.”  I said, “Challenged?” Kevin nodded, “It was a tournament. Anyone interested once the challenge is issued that’s of age can enter to fight. Kincade had to win the tournament then win the fight against the Lead warrior.”          I said, “He fought your dad?” Kevin said, “Not unlike Alpha Chase did.” I said, “Chase had to fight for the Alpha title?” Kevin stalled, “Uhhh….no. Former Alpha Frank handed the title over to Chase.” I said, “When did he fight him then?” Kevin shrugged, “He had to fight him. It upset Chase that he had to do it.” I said, “I’ll bet.” Kevin said, “They are fine now though.” I said, “I figured.” Kevin said, “If you are going to ditch us, I need your word you will tell at least one of us. I know you are not a fairy, but you are someone who strikes me as a person whose word is their bond.” I shook Kevin’s hand, “I swear I will tell you. From here on out, if I disappear, and you don’t get word while you’re following me around. Nothing good as happened.” Kevin sighed, “There were a lot of qualifiers in that statement.” Ted said, “Join the team Kevin. I have a support group for being worried about that girl. Started out as me and my mother. It’s grown.” Kevin laughed, “We need a phone tree.” Ted gasped, “It’s like you don’t even know me Kevin. I do not have the nickname TeleTed for nothing. Telephone, TeleTed. Get it? I put the word out. It’s my thing.” Kevin laughed and sat down. Ted and I went over our schedule. We had a woman from Haley’s pack coming tomorrow. She wanted to throw her best customers a catered event in a fancy place. She was an interior designer. I looked up her website. She was a VERY good interior designer. We planned some outlines and sketches for her event. I called Haley. “Hey Lex. What’s up?” She answered immediately. I smiled, “I have a woman from your pack coming tomorrow. Wanted to know if you knew any background on her.” Haley said, “Who is it?” I said, “Lenore Henderson.” Haley laughed, “Bex’s mother in law?” I said, “Bex got married?!” Haley said, “Oh, not yet. They are just mated with kids. You know in the Hackura realm she would be her mother in law, married or not.” I laughed. That was true. I said, “So this is your lead warrior’s mother then?” Haley said, “Yup. She designs things. She’s got good taste. So elegant would be how I would pitch something to her.” I looked over my outlines and immediately tossed one based on Haley’s advice.         Haley said, “Her daughter will probably come with her. She’s into designing too, but she’s shadowed one of the event planners here in our territory too. She likes both jobs right now.” I thought about that. I’d have to have Ted look into an intern. Even having someone here after school would be a big help. I said, “I might have to snatch her up as an intern.” Haley laughed, “She’d hug you. That girl and her mom are huggers.” I said, “You ok with that?” Haley sighed, “It’s not as bad with women. The dad never hugs me. I’m getting better about it.” I said, “You really are. I about punched Heath when he kissed your head.” Haley laughed, “He’s basically a brother of mine at this point.” I said, “Oh shoot. I forgot the company card at my house.” I was going to see if I could rush some samples for our meeting tomorrow. Haley popped to me with a smile, “I’ll just pop you home for it.” I said, “Before you do.” I opened the door. “Kevin, Haley is popping me to my house. We will be right back.” Kevin smirked, “Was that so hard?” I said, “A little bit. Yes.” Haley rolled her eyes. “What’s that about?” I said, “Assigned protections from Ted’s pack. They got testy that I ditched them.” Haley laughed, “Wolves are not like our people about getting ditched.” I said, “You’re telling me now? Too late there Hales.” She laughed and popped us to my house. I ran upstairs and grabbed the card off of my dresser.          When I came back Haley was holding the box I’d put the keys in from my parents house. She turned, “This...what’s in here?” I said, “How did you find it?” Haley said, “It called me to it. Whatever is inside is charmed by powerful Fae magic. Royal Fae magic.” I gaped, “It’s from my parents house.” I explained everything to her and opened the box. She gasped. “There’s a bank….that fairy’s use here in this realm. Aiden told me stories of the security. Mostly fairy’s use it, but another supernatural could if they were vouched for. It would be expensive though.” I said, “Where is it?” Haley said, “I’ll ask Aiden. He’s been there. I honestly didn’t pay much attention to the details of the stories.” She trailed off again. I said, “Do you know who performed the magic on these keys?” Haley said, “There are two options.” I waited but she said nothing. I said, “Who are the options?” Haley said, “My mother or my Aunt.” I gaped, “What? My parents knew the fairy queen or the fairy princess?” Haley nodded, “King Arthur would know if it was my aunt. You should ask him. I’ll talk to Aiden about how to get your parents things from the bank. Something tells me it’s going to take more than a key. Anyone could steal a key.” I said, “What the hell was going on?” Haley shrugged, “They could’ve run into either fairy here in this realm. If they were entertaining or shared their sorrow….either one would’ve been inclined to help your parents.” I said, “Why not your uncle?” Haley snorted, “My father told me stories about your parents. They are not the kind of people who would’ve accepted Fabian’s help, nor were they the kind of people who would’ve had what Fabian wanted. He never did anything out of kindness. He always had an agenda. He wouldn’t have done this.” I said, “Are you ok?” She shrugged. I said, “Do you think you know which one it was?” Haley sighed, “Based on the way it called to me….it was my mother. She had sight. She’d have known one day you and I would be friends. Or my mother saw that, and sent my aunt to be the person they ran into.”          I sighed, “I’m sorry. I know your mom’s a sore subject for you.” Haley shrugged, “It’s fine. Maybe we can get you and Heath some answers.” She put the box where she found it, and popped us back to my office. She gave me a hug, “I’ll speak with Aiden. See what we can figure out.” I said, “Thank you Haley.” She smiled and popped away. I opened the door, “Ted, get me a meeting with King Arthur, Susanna, and her string. Also, I’m thinking we should get a intern for after school. We have a student coming in tomorrow who might be interested, but if she’s not; let’s get some candidates.” Ted said, “Brilliant! I love it. If no high school students are takers, I’ll look at college campuses.” I nodded. I walked back in my office and closed the door. I called Heath. “Lexi.” I said, “I have information. Are you free?” Heath said, “I’ll be by in an hour.” He hung up.” He texted that he wouldn’t be able to make it until much later. I told him to swing by when he could. I'd wait. The day flew by. Ted was walking out after he’d gotten us a meeting with the vampire king. Ted said, “The vampire’s assistant was most intrigued with your request. I had Susanna put it. They will be here tomorrow. Seems their group just arrived at the pack house. What are we meeting with them about?” I said, “Brainstorming.” Ted said, “Evasive. We hang out with fairies a lot now. You’ll have to teach me your ways for my kids.” I laughed, “I SO want you to have a little boy and girl just like you.” Ted said, “We can all hope.” I laughed. Heath came into the office.         Ted raised an eyebrow, “See you later I guess, Lex.” I nodded. Kevin raised an eyebrow and sat back down. I led Heath into my office and shut the door. Heath said, “Sorry I couldn’t get away sooner.” I shrugged, “Not a big deal. It’s not life or death.” Heath said, “What is it? I was in a meeting so I couldn’t probe.” I sighed, “Haley came by and popped me home. I’d forgotten the company card. I ran upstairs to get it, and when I came back she had the box of keys from mom and dad’s house.” Heath said, “You had to have hidden it.” I said, “I did and well if I do say so myself. I asked her how she found it, and she said it called to her.” Heath went rigid. “The Fairy vault? Are you kidding me? How the HELL did mom and dad get a fairy to vouch for them?! f**k!” I said, “You know about it? Where is it?” Heath said, “A beautiful place that fairy’s love.” I said, “That’s a lot of places. Break it down for me.” Heath said, “It’s in Fiji. You have to be popped there, and brought in by a fairy. I don’t suppose Haley knew what fairy took them, and how we could speak with them.” I winced, “She narrowed it down to two people.” Heath said, “And?” I sighed, “It was her mother or her aunt.” Heath said, “Her dead mother or her dead aunt….that’s just great.” I said, “Haley is going to talk to Aiden about how we can get access.” Heath said, “Thank god she loves you or we’d be dead in the water. I’d just bet the instructions and details of how to get into the stupid fairy vault without jumping through a billion hoops is with the instructions to our damn letters.”          I said, “Probably. Or….we missed a hiding spot in the house.” Heath said, “Why would the former fairy Queen or princess help our parents?” I said, “We may never know. Haley believes it was likely her mother given how the box called to her. I’m sure she will research it. I have a meeting with King Arthur tomorrow. Haley said if it was her aunt….he’d know. I’ll ask him. She believes her mother did it though. She thinks that her mom did it because she had sight. Her mom knew Haley and I would be friends one day.” Heath said, “That sounds like a fairy. Especially if she didn’t plan on dying, and thought this would be a way back into her beloved daughter’s life.” I said, “Come again?” Heath said, “Fairy sight is not something anyone knows too much about. They keep their secrets, but what we do know is there are always multiple paths. I’m sure the fairy queen hoped to keep herself alive, and make it to this moment when the keys were discovered. Haley would have to go to her mother for help. That’s the leverage she would’ve needed to get back into Haley’s life. She would’ve bartered for it, and Haley would’ve given anything to her mother for you.” I hissed, “f**k that b***h! I wish I could stomp on her damn grave! I wouldn’t have let Haley do that.” Heat said, “She likely would’ve made the deal before talking to you. Even then, she would’ve only told you if you asked her.” I closed my eyes, “At least she’s dead and cannot f*****g continue to win the worst mother of all time award.”         Heath laughed, “Fairies. It was always odd to me.” I said, “What?” Heath said, “Fairies are crazy protective of their children. The way the Queen turned a literal blind eye to what was done to her child astounded me once we met Haley. Then her mother died…” I interrupted him “Which you didn’t tell me about or call me home for….jerk.” Heath smiled, “That one I actually have a reason for. You couldn’t have gone with her to Faerie.” I snorted, “Please. If the Black Arrow asked King Aiden for entrance to Faerie….he’d have granted it for fun.” Heath sighed, “Probably. Anyway, when the queen died it all made sense.” I said, “How? How does her death make her actions make sense?” Heath smiled, “The only thing fairy’s are more protective of than their children are their own lives. The fairy queen had to of tied her life force to Fabian. If she searched out in her sight what was being done to her daughter….Or acknowledged how others treated her daughter when she was not around….She’d be forced to act against her brother, which would’ve killed her.” I said, “I said it once, and I’ll say it again. Worst. Mother. Ever. Mom would’ve given up her life for either of us without a second thought. Haley would do the same for her children.” Heath said, “Oh, I agree. Let me know what Haley says about the keys.” I nodded and he left. I walked wordlessly to the car with Kincade and Kevin. They’d had Kyler and Ken go to their car earlier. When I got home Chase wasn’t there. I walked back outside. “Where’s Chase?” Kevin waited a beat then responded, “Former Alpha Frank says he’s still working in his office.” I nodded and went back inside.              I smiled thinking exactly how I’d pull Chase out of work. I grabbed my trench coat and sexy lingerie. I debated then grabbed an outfit for tomorrow. I’d spent the night at Chase’s. His dad knew about us, so it wouldn’t be a big deal. I grabbed a few more things to leave at his place. I walked outside with a duffle bag. I said, “You two want to walk with me over to the main house? I’m staying there tonight, unless Chase doesn’t want me to.” Kincade snorted, “He’ll want you to.” We all walked over, and they left once I reached the front door. Frank was sitting at the kitchen table, “Lexi?” I smiled, “Hey Frank.” He evaluated me. Then laughed. “You're why Kevin asked where Chase was.” I nodded, “Thought I’d surprise him.” Frank said, “He’ll be surprised.” I said, “Where’s Susie?” I wanted to go change, but I didn’t want to run into her wearing a trench coat and lingerie.” Frank smiled, “She’s down for bed. She’s been playing with all the kids after school. She’s not used to it, and she’s always been the type that puts herself to sleep when she’s tired.” I smiled, “Well, I’m going to up Chase’s room. It was good to see you.” Frank said, “You as well. I tracked down one other she wolf. She had no love for Alpha Allister, but she didn’t have any children. I have leads on three more. Two are….not easy to track down. Not unlike Tenley. I’m thinking they may be our girls, but I’ll keep looking.” I smiled, “Thanks Frank.” I gave him a quick hug that surprised him. I ran up to Chase’s room. I put everything away, and got into my lingerie and trench coat. I grabbed my phone. For one of my assignments I’d had to learn burlesque dancing. It was going to come in handy tonight.          I stood outside Chase’s door looking around making sure no one was coming. A man came in and saw me. He stopped in his tracks. Thankfully the trench coat was covering everything up, but….I’m sure he got the hint. The man smiled, “You must be Lexi Scott. I didn’t see you the day you were here to set up the Halloween party. I’m Daniel. Nice to meet you.” I shook his hand, “Lexi. Guess you caught that already. Are you here to talk to Chase?” He nodded. I thought about it. “Any chance you could wait fifteen minutes?” Daniel laughed, “Spinning up an Alpha wolf is dangerous.” I snorted, “My friend Haley Conners says it’s fun.” Daniel looked like he choked on his tongue. “Alpha Conners Fairy Princess spins him up for fun?” I nodded. He said, “I’ll give you fifteen minutes.” He turned and I heard him mutter, “Other supernaturals are crazy. Fairies and hood members spinning up wolves on purpose. Both the princess and the future Luna are crazy. Goddess help us all.” I laughed. I took a deep breath and opened the door. Chase looked up startled. I closed the door and exposed my bra in the trench coat. Chase’s eyes narrowed in on it. I slowly undid my coat buttons. I let it drop off my shoulders. Chase was growling already. I laughed and put on the burlesque music soundtrack. I smacked his hands away when he touched me. That was not allowed in burlesque or stripping. That cost extra. Naughty Alpha. I could see Chase’s anger at the warrior who was now knocking on the door. Time for part two. To be fair I’d just planned to make him a little crazy with the dance before I ran into Daniel. Now...I was going to suck his d**k while edging him to an orgasm until his meeting was over. I’d just bet that would work him and Bolt into a tizzy.
