    Lexi stared at Frank in surprise as he filled the doorway. With him? He said I was with him. Holy crap! Was he the one who was following me in the airport? Damn, I need to pay attention. I’m obviously slacking when I’m not in my BA gear. Frank said he and I needed to chat. One look at Chase’s face told me he was not down for that. I winced at Kincade and Kevin’s glares. UGH. Wolves were so much touchier about being ditched than Hood details. Frank said we had an appointment. I looked at Ted who actually looked smug when he said Frank did have an appointment. Ted slipped me a note as he left. Frank closed the door and I walked behind my desk to sit down. Frank said, “How soundproofed is this place? If I know my son, and I do, he’s yelling right now.” I laughed, “You can’t hear in or out of my office.” Frank nodded, “Do you want to read that? I shrugged, “Might as well.

Lex,

Your wolf is insane. He’s hella pissed. I tried to have your back, truly. He barged into your office. Like an animal. Guess he is part one. Then we all had to awkwardly eat lunch and sit here and wait for you to come back. You owe me so big! You’ve GOT to tell me what you and Frank have cooked up. TeleTed wants to be told the deets!

Ted (duh)

 I laughed. It was so Ted. I looked up, “Why did you say I was with you? Were you the one following me at the airport?” Frank nodded, “I’d scheduled a trip to visit the pack Tenley first went to when she left. That was all I could get on her whereabouts. I didn’t see your text until after you’d shown up.” I laughed, “How did you know I’d shown up?” I was talking to the Alpha and Beta. The pack member that came in didn’t know I was there. They walked in with reports of a woman showing up, not a werewolf, to speak to Tyson. They described you, and I told them you were working on this with me. I got out my phone and saw your text.”

            Frank continued, “I waited until you left. I called Sophia on the way to the airport. I told her the situation with Tyson. I fudged a bit and said that I owed Tenley restitution. I told her in tracking her down, I stumbled across her brother. Who had no designs to take over her pack. Only to be a warrior.” I said, “He seemed quite strong.” Frank smiled, “Oh, the Beta there is convinced he will challenge to be their lead warrior and win. They seemed a little frantic that he may decide to move to Sophia’s pack if it worked out between them.” I shrugged, “I don’t know that they would be in that place just yet. Tyson might come help her, but I don’t see him putting Ashely in danger. Sophia’s pack seems to be in some turmoil. Maybe someday though.” Frank said, “From what I learned about Tyson, he takes after Allister. He will want to help her. He’s strong enough to do it. He could easily be the lead warrior in either pack.” I said, “So, Sophia was happy to get the news?” Frank nodded, “She really was. I think you were right. She’s lonely. I hate that. She’s always been like one of my own.” I frowned, “I didn’t get the impression Chase liked her much based on how he acted in her territory.” Frank said, “They were good friends until about seven months ago.” I sighed, “One thing at a time I suppose. Maybe I can help him with that someday, but I feel like if I interfere now that would tell everyone who I am.” Frank laughed, “Powder keg.” I said, “I’m sorry?” Frank said, “That would be a powder keg.”

            I frowned. Then narrowed my gaze on Frank, “Does she like Chase?” Frank raised his hands, “No. They’ve always been just friends. Never had any romantic intentions toward each other. Chase respects her. Both my boys do, but never had a crush even.” I nodded. That was good. I was beginning to think my brother had a crush on Sophia. It would explain his actions. I wouldn't explain why he didn’t just go talk to her. He was never shy with girls…. Well after his string died, he backed off dating completely. Poor Heath. I said, “Is there anything I can do to help Chase and Sophia covertly?” Frank snorted, “No, that would not be a good idea. Best to leave it. Or talk to Chase about her.” I said, “He’s never actually mentioned her. Probably because we are keeping us on the down low.” Frank said, “That’s... certainly a reason.” I laughed, “You’re funny. Thanks for watching my back at the airport.” Frank smiled, “You shouldn’t sneak off. Especially when it seems danger is following you.” I sighed, “Yeah, it does seem like wolves are far testier about being ditched than Hood details.” Frank laughed, “As is an Alpha wolf. To Chase you ditched him.” I said, “How?” Frank smiled, “He has people guarding you. He already feels some type of way because you aren’t marked yet. It makes us Alpha wolves a bit crazy. Then you’ve got your missions, and he can’t really know what’s going on with you. If he’d marked, you the mate bond would let him know if you were in trouble.”

            I smiled, “You really want him to mark me.” Frank said, “Yes, I do. It has to be hard for him. Alpha wolves tend to need to mark their mate relatively soon.” I said, “He keeps biting his own arm.” Frank raised an eyebrow, “Kids. You all are so strange these days.” I laughed, “I didn’t tell him to bite his own arm” Frank said, “Well, then I’ll talk to him. Tell him to stop being a weirdo. Can you come to our home for Thanksgiving?” I said, “Do you do lunch or dinner?” Frank said, “We'll have dinner.” I said, “Then yes. I have lunch with my brother, but I’m free afterwards.” Frank smiled, “I’ll let Nadine know we will have one more for dinner this year.” I smiled, “Thanks for helping with this.” Frank said, “I have a lead on a few more she wolves. It will take more time with them.” I said, “Well, we will do what we can. At least we united Sophia and Tyson.” Frank nodded, “Ok little Luna. Let’s go face the music.” I said, “How mad will he be?” Frank said, “Oh...Pretty mad.” I sighed, “Who should I try to get to forgive me first? Chase, Kincade, or Kevin?” Frank laughed, “Oh they will all be mad. I’d say Kevin is your best shot.” I sighed, “Great.” Frank opened the door and let me walk through first. Kincade and Kevin were still glaring at me. Chase was pacing. He yelled asking what was going. Frank winked at me and said bonding time. He was quick on his feet. I had to give him that. Chase turned to me and told me not to shake Kevin and Kincade. I did not think now was the time to point out… I didn’t shake them that would imply they had a bead on me. I ditched them. I apologized because I really felt like they wouldn’t find out. I guess that’s not the same as being cool about being ditched like Hood tails are. 

            Kincade spoke, saying a heads up would be nice. Maybe I should’ve started with them. I could do heads up. Possibly a text from the airport, but we could quibble over that when it happened. Chase turned to Derrick. My eyes followed Chase’s. Derrick had stiffened. His entire body was stiff as a board. His eyes were flicking to black and back to brown. I smiled. I knew who was coming. Sally Quaid came into the office looking stunning in a burgundy sweater top and a short black skirt. She had on leggings and ankle boots. Sally jumped into Derrick's surprised arms and she kissed him. Ted looked at me smiling. I could see his concern though. I wasn’t worried. When they broke apart Sally told us we’d catch up later. She took off with her wolf. Something told me we wouldn't be seeing Sally for our event tomorrow. She was supposed to be back at work, but…. I doubted it. Ted said he’d better treat her right. I told him not to worry because the war goddess herself had stamped this with her approval. Ted was next level about me not telling him about that sooner. To be fair… a lot had been happening lately. I turned to Chase. I still thought Sally needed to be guarded. If Chase didn’t agree, I could talk to Heath. Chase cut me off saying he wouldn’t let anything happen to Sally. Then he just left. 

            Something in my chest tightened. I felt like I was falling through the floor. I stared at the door as if Chase would come back and give me a kiss. Or at least stay and yell at me. I felt a hand on my shoulder, “He’ll come around. Alpha’s don’t handle being worried well. Give him hell though. He needs to learn that you stay, even if that means you fight. Damn i***t. I thought I taught him better than that.” Frank said. I nodded. I called Chase when Frank left. He didn’t answer. Ted sighed, “He called you a few times.” I said, “I was probably on the plane.” Ted said, “Spill.” I said, “Frank and I are trying to reunite some family members. We found one, and I think they will both be happy.” Ted said, “Ok, vague. Why can’t you tell your wolf about that?” I said, “Well…. I kind of did it for Heath. He has so much on his plate, and I wanted to take something off of it.” Ted sighed, “Call Chase back. Matt said he’ll pick up.” I nodded. I dialed Chase again. He was still pissed when he picked up. My heart hurt hearing him so angry and knowing I was the cause. I asked why he just left. He countered with like I did. What? I didn’t leave to avoid him. I wasn’t even with him when I left. I pointed out I didn’t walk out on him. He said I left my protection. I looked over at Kincade and Kevin who were still there with their arms crossed. I told him I’m not used to having a protective detail. I’m really not. Especially, not ones that get pissed when I ditch them. Heath on occasion gets pissed, but never the people tailing me.

            Chase told me he needed to run off some extra energy. He admitted he was really worried when he discovered I’d left without telling him. I felt really bad. I hadn’t meant for him to worry. I decided I’d call Haley. She’d help me get the P.O boxes and she’d probably cheer me up.  Chase said he’d see me later. I told him I’d call him when Haley left. He said he loved me, and we hung up. I sat there for several moments. Ted said, “Why don’t you call Haley?” I looked up, “Is he going to forgive me? I…. I didn’t mean anything by it...It’s just…” Ted said, “A habit. He just needs to learn more about you. You just need to give them a heads up like you gave me before you left. You’ll get used to it. It’s just new Lex.” Kevin said, “Fuck...I can’t stay mad when she looks that sad. The Alpha will get over it. Call the princess and plan your girl’s night. We will wait outside. Ted link us where you all are.” I said, “My place, probably.” Kevin and Kincade nodded and left. Ted said, “Hey, it’s ok.” I didn’t answer him. I called Haley, “Hey Lexi!” Haley giggled. I said, “Hey...impromptu girls’ night?” Haley squealed. I found myself smiling, “YES! Eric is working late, and the triplets are down for the night. I WAS SO f*****g BORED! Hold on.” She popped. I heard Eric’s voice, “Angel… we are still working.” Haley said, “Oh, I know. I was just letting you know I’m going to Lexi’s. We are having a small badass girls’ night. I have friends I do that with now.” I heard Bjourn laugh. Eric said, “Be careful Angel.” Haley said, “What could possibly f*****g happen at a badass girl gang night?” Everyone on her end laughed. Haley said, “What?” Eric said, “Trouble tends to find you little mate.” Haley said, “That’s hardly my fault. I’ll see you later.” I heard a kiss. Throats cleared then a sigh. “Bye.” Haley popped beside me.

            She smiled, “Hello! This is not a very girls night atmosphere. To Ted’s!” I laughed. We popped to Ted’s. I asked, “Why here?” Haley said, “This is where I snapped all the alcohol. You two seem down. Let’s get some shots and get this party started. First, new outfits!” I said, “Before you do that. You should that tonight's events involve a B&E.” Haley nodded. She snapped me into black cargo pants, and a black crop top. Haley had snapped herself into Camo leggings and a camo crop top. Ted said, “Not going all black Haley?” Ted was also decked out in all black. Haley said, “I don’t wear all black anymore.” Ted and I frowned. I said, “I know you like color, but you used to rock black on occasion.” Haley snapped us all three shots and downed hers. She said, “Even since the former Vampire King Damon, who is now a puddle, took me… I don’t wear black. He made me wear this horrid outfit that was all black. I never got to change. I swore off all black after I left that place.” I said, “I would’ve staked his ass so fast for you! I’m so sorry I wasn’t there.” Ted said, “I am too.” Haley said, “Aww Ted… being a pet isn’t your style. I appreciate the thought though. Lex, I knew you’d have been there if you could. I got out though. I staked that mother fucker myself. Now what are we doing in these outfits?” I smiled, “I need to get the names of the place I have my P.O Box at.” Haley said, “Why?” I said, “I think a possible cousin of mine has a box there.” Haley said, “Exfuckingcuse me?! Back the f**k up b***h. Cousin?” I sighed and explained it all to her.

            Her eyes blazed, “I WILL KICK THEIR ASSES! How could they just leave you alone like that? At least my family thought I was being taken care of by the other half of my family! They have their traditions! Your people don’t have that! They HAVE to know your parents died! OHHHHH I WILL fairy hijinks the f**k out of them!” Ted clapped, “YESSSS GIRL! Give it to them good.” I said, “Grandparents and any aunts and uncles. Let’s leave the cousins for now.” Haley said, “No… when those fuckers are found… ALL their asses are fair game. OHHH I could tattoo your and Heath’s names on the back of their hands. Then they’d have to see it ALL the time! Constant reminders of what shits they are. I WILL come up with things. So many f*****g thing. OHHHH the fairy hijinks. Those fuckers!” Ted came in with drinks and toasted Haley, “I do so love you Haley Conners.” She downed her martini’s. We followed suit. Haley said, “To Lex’s P.O Box!” We popped into the place. Haley smiled and conjured her phone. “Haley? God, please tell me you’re just calling to say hi.” Haley smiled, “I did plan to say hello Harper’s boy toy lover. I’m looking at a computer I need to get into.” Harper groaned, “Why?” I said, “I need the list of clients off of it.” Harper and Haley bickered back and forth and finally a portal opened. Harper and Gunner stepped through. Haley said, “I could’ve f*****g done it myself.” Gunner rolled his eyes and guided her to the side of the computer. He flexed his fingers and got to work. Harper took in our outfits, “So… what’s going on?” I explained. Both Gunner and Harper’s eyes were blazing. 

            Ted clapped, “Three pissed off Hackura portaled into a P.O Box office. Someone finish the joke.” Haley said, “One popped two portaled and then they f****d s**t up.” Ted snorted. Harper said, “We can find them for you, Lexi. I’ll find them god damn f*****g fast too.” I sighed, “Heath wants to do it.” Haley sighed, “But harper’s boytoy lover is so much f*****g faster. I’m SO GODDAMN tired of being nice to people. I’m almost at my f*****g max. I don’t know that I have much more in me.” I frowned. Ted was hunched over laughing. Harper said, “Aww, little sister. We can let the Scott’s do it their way. They will find them eventually. Then we can have chats.” Haley said, “f**k chats! I’m pulling fairy hijinks on their asses.” Gunner said, “And that’s why we love you Haley.” Haley said, “AWWW Harper’s boytoy lover loves me.” Gunner sighed, “One day, you’ll say my name.” Haley said, “I say your damn name all the time. It’s the other crazy people who can’t get it right.” Harper laughed and Gunner was desperately trying not to. He printed out a list, “Here you are.” He handed it to me.  Haley said, “I still could’ve done it.” Gunner said, “But I did it faster. If I needed someone to go crazy with samurai swords or fairy hijinks. I’d call you little princess.” Haley sighed, “I suppose you have a f*****g point. Samurai swords do not fit on your keyboard.” Harper laughed, “Samurai swords are not in Gunner’s wheelhouse, little sister.” Haley said, “The f**k are you on about big brother? What the f**k is wheelhouse? Why would a wheel need a house? UGH!” We all laughed. 

            I turned to Harper and Gunner, “Thank you for coming to help.” They nodded and opened a portal. Harper gave Haley a hug, “Call anytime little sister.” Gunner said, “Yes, this type of call is better than the frantic. ‘FIND HALEY NOW!’ Call.” Haley said, “I can hardly help why people f*****g call you Harper’s boytoy lover. Or that they are f*****g weirdos about my locations.” Harper said, “Then don’t get shot.” Haley groaned, “You take ONE bullet for someone, and people hold it over your head! Am I supposed to deal with this FOREVER? I AGREED to take my phone with me when I popped places. What else do you people f*****g want?!” Harper kissed her, “No bullets.” Haley sighed, “I’ll do my best.” Harper frowned, “If only you’d promise.” Haley smiled. Gunner groaned, “Thanks for that lack of response, Haley. Really… this won’t cause your brothers to get on a conference call. You call me his boytoy lover for a reason. Yet you keep preventing me from living up to my name.” Haley said, “I can’t f*****g lie. What do you people want from me?! Harper f**k your boytoy lover. It’s his name after all.” Harper said, “Oh… I plan to.” Gunner said, “I want three days free of a frantic track Haley calls.” Haley said, “If the universe would let that f*****g happen. I have no problem with that Harper’s boytoy lover. Now, off to badass girl gang night!” Haley groaned when we got back to Ted’s “UGH!” She threw herself on the couch, “I love them, but they are exhausting.” Ted laughed, “I’m sure they say the same thing about you.” Haley gasped and sat up, “Do they really? I’m DELIGHTFUL AND ENTERFUCKINGTAINING!” I laughed, “That you are. I need to call Heath.” Ted made drinks for me and himself. Haley snapped herself more martinis. 

            “Lexi.” Heath said. I said, “Hey. Can you meet about fifty yards back from my place?” Heath said, “Be there in ten.” I smiled. I’d missed that. Heath would always be there if I called. We really had shut little doors everywhere. I stepped outside. Ted handed me a drink. Heath was already waiting. Damn. We really were fast. I walked out to him. He laughed, “That’s so weird. You look like you appear out of thin air.” I smiled and handed him the papers. He said, “Thanks. What is this?” I said, “Hold on. Haley! Space unheard.” Haley popped to us, chanted, and popped back inside. I heard a door shut.” I smiled, “This is a list of people who also have P.O. Box where I do. I’m pretty sure when I was VERY intoxicated, I met a cousin of ours. He said his name was James.” Heath said, “Could’ve used an Alias for a box. Why do you think he’s a cousin?” I said, “Looked like he could be related to us. He’s either older than you or between us in age. My mind is a bit hazy on that detail. He knew my name, and I didn’t give it.” Heath laughed, “I’ll look into it.” I said, “I found one of Sophia’s siblings. He’s going to get in contact with her. He came off as on the level to me.” Heath smiled, “I know you did. I knew when you boarded the plane.” I said, “How did you….? You know what. I don’t want to know.” Heath smiled, “I’m just glad you’re telling me. I’m guessing your wolf did not take you ditching his protections well.” I sighed, “No, he didn’t.” Heath said, “Hey…. he’ll get over it.” I said, “How did you know he didn’t take it well?” 

            Heath laughed, “Because I take it so well when you do it with our people? Also, you’re having a girl’s night apparently. Does Haley know that…. Girl’s nights don’t usually involve a mission.” I said, “Hey! She does girl’s night her own way.” Heath laughed. I said, “Do you like Sophia, Heath?” Heath sighed, “I’d rather not discuss her.” I said, “Ok, but if you want to…. I’m here. It’s been three years since….” He looked away, “I know.” I hugged him. “I love you Heath.” He smiled, “I love you too.” He squeezed me, “I’ll look into this. Maybe this will be the break we need.” I said, “Are we still on for lunch on Thanksgiving?” Heath said, “Yes, I’ll be monitoring a few things around dinnertime, so I’ll be unavailable.” I nodded, “I’ll be there then for lunch.” He smiled, “I’m glad you’ll be home.” I walked back inside. Haley said, “So, what’s been going on?” I sighed and took another drink. “I’m dating someone.” Haley said, “Yes, your man lover friend.” I said, “He’s upset with me. Instead of talking about it, he walked out.” Haley said, “Then go hunt him down. You are super f*****g fast. Or shoot him with an arrow to make him stay in the same place.” I snorted. So did Ted. I said, “I don’t like those options.” Haley smirked, “Then drink up, and call him later.” I laughed, “Guys don’t like drunk dials Hales.” Haley snorted, “I bet you if you get that TeleTed vibrator you own and call him…. he’d f*****g love your damn drunk dial…. that’s what you called it...right?” Ted said, “Yes, that’s what it’s called.” Haley smiled. She snapped me enough drinks that I was tipsy, but not drunk. Haley said, “So this guy….” I said, “It’s still new. I’m not ready for…” I trailed off. Haley nodded, “Alright. You tell him he treats you well or he deals with me.” I laughed, “I will do that.”
