UNBREAK MY HEART

Bruce has had a busy day at the Motorola office. He had a lengthy meeting with his staff where they discussed a new product they would be releasing to consumers in the coming months. The discussion lasted longer than anticipated as they discussed the device's model, the newest features it will offer, and who the target customers are. The glass walls and view of the business center at Bruce's office are straight out of a movie, all glass walls, overlooking the business center. From above, you can see how crowded the roadways appear to be. Looking down from his office, the trees appeared to be perfectly aligned. His table is quite well-organized; it is topped with his laptop, some good pens and notepads, and an etched nameplate with his name and title. Product Manager Bruce Wyse is in charge of technical architecture and design based on specifications; functional specifications for the new device; customer engagements; assessments of existing software systems to identify synergies; solutions for areas that require improvement; and management of incubation teams. Even though they had food delivered to the office, the meeting ended later than expected. Bruce offered, "Oh, I know a location called The Irish Pub, it would be wonderful to have some Guinness Beer and watch football after office," to his team, who enthusiastically agreed and thought that would be really nice after a hard day at work and with all the meetings. Bruce added, "I know the manager there, Jessica, it'll be wonderful to be looked after. Bruce and his group are eagerly preparing for their night out and have packed their bags. After getting on each car, they immediately headed to The Irish Pub. Bruce calls the bar from inside the car and searches for Jessica. Apparently, it was Jessica who answered the phone at the reception that night: "The Irish Pub, it’s Jessica, how can I help you?" Jessica asked over the phone "Hi Jessica, this is Bruce, Annika’s friend. Remember me? Me and my team are on our way to the pub for some cold Guinness beer and to watch football. There’s like twelve of us coming over in fifteen minutes. " Bruce responded. Jessica was eagerly anticipating Bruce and his team's arrival that night because the bar was so empty and they needed some customers to make up for the lost business. She quickly instructs his staff to set up a long table large enough to seat twelve people, making sure it has a great view of the television for watching football. She asked the bartender for some good drafts of Guinness beer and for some free snacks, such as mixed nuts, for the Bruce team. She goes to the lobby right away and waits for Bruce to arrive so she may welcome and greet them. The automobiles of Bruce and his team pulled up one by one. The majority of them are appropriately attired, wearing fine pairs of slacks and long, white shirts with loose ties. They are all late-20s American expatriates who work at Motorola. That evening, Jessica couldn't help but notice how handsome Bruce was; she was welcomed by his charming smile, which revealed his dimples and full eyelashes. Jessica couldn't help but respect Bruce when he approached her and shook her hand, and she even liked the way he smelled that night. As they go toward the pub, you can see how friendly and laughing they are with one another. When they arrived, Jessica greeted Bruce and his group with a warm smile and the following words: "Hello, welcome to the Irish Pub, how are you? ", she said as she greeted Bruce in the lobby. Bruce noticed the prepared long table for them but they choose to just sit by the round bar to have their drinks of beer for that night, as they also get a better view of the sport on the tv monitor. "I'm good, need some lovely cool beer with my team. All of his teammates demand a glass of beer right away. That evening, they appeared to be so thirsty that they even topped the bar counter with their hands while asking the bartender for drinks. In order to assist the bartender, Jessica poured some beer on the glasses for Bruce and his group. It appears that everyone wants a beer right away. Jessica questioned Bruce. “Yeah! After a lengthy meeting, we need this because it has been a long day at the workplace, Bruce said. "Is Annika aware that you're here tonight? Jessica questioned Bruce. Bruce responds, "No, I've been too busy lately with the introduction of our new device, I haven't spoken to her in days, and I'm very sure she's alright. Jessica assisted the bartender in serving everyone while standing in front of Bruce and making small talk. When Bruce heard Annika's name mentioned, he was just delighted. Bruce then tells Jessica about how he first met Annika in the pub where she previously worked, their first encounter, and how he lost her and later rediscovered her at La Gondola. He seems to be having a great time telling Jessica these tales. Jessica was listening to Bruce but was trying to divert the conversation to a different topic. For some reason, she finds it so annoying now to hear Annika’s name from Bruce's mouth. "Let’s talk about something else." She told Bruce and laughed. Bruce responded by laughing too. That night they talked about beer and the types of guests the pub has and what the best day to come over is. They were both enjoying the conversation when Jessica suddenly excused herself to Bruce and approached the lobby. She picked up the phone and dialed the number of La Gondola. It was almost ten o’clock that night and Jessica knew that Annika was still working at the reception to bid goodbye to her guest for the night. "La Gondola, Annika speaking, how can I help you?" Annika answered the phone. "Hey Annika, it's me, Jess." Jessica responded. "Do you know that Bruce and his team are here at the pub? Did he tell you that he would be here? " Jessica posed an unusual question to Annika. "Oh nice, they can have some nice drinks." Annika commented. Annika was a little perplexed as to what she wanted. Something about Jessica's voice makes Bruce's presence in the bar seem more likely. She has no control over where Bruce wants to have his dinner nor where they want to have drinks, so for Annika it’s not a big deal at all. "Do you want to talk to him?" Jessica asked, "No, they might be enjoying their beer and watching football. You can say hello to them for me please." Annika told Jessica. After the phone call, Jessica said goodbye to Annika and returned to the bar to speak with Bruce once again. She failed to inform Bruce that she had called Annika, and even worse, she failed to inform him that Annika wanted to communicate with him. Bruce was not even informed that Annika had been called and told that Bruce was at the bar. She completely disregarded Annika's reaction to her behavior. Annika was nearly done with her shift at La Gondola when Jessica informed her that Bruce was in the bar. She was just waiting to thank and say goodbye to her guests as she stood in the lobby. She reasoned that she would ignore it and let the night pass because she believed that Bruce would visit La Gondola soon and she didn't want to call him and interrupt him while he was working. She has complete faith in Bruce, and she knows he is working hard with his team and preparing to introduce a new product to the market. She checks Bruce's number on her list as she sits in her chair near the reception area. She had the idea of calling Bruce to see how he was doing and where he was at the moment. But she reasoned that calling Bruce and asking too many questions would give him the impression that she is interrogating him. She finally found Bruce's number in her book. "Will I ring him or not?" she asked herself. Annika then picks up the handset of the phone while looking at Bruce's number, but she was having a second thought. She put down the handset and thought, "Nope, I’ll wait for him to tell me that he went to the pub." She put the handset back. Close the book where Bruce's number is written and just check all her reservations for lunch the next day. She promised herself, "He would call me soon." Annika is aware that Bruce always lets her know how his days are going, where he has been, and even what he ate for lunch or dinner. As a couple, they have already developed a bond and periodically check in with one another. They get closer as the days pass; they start calling each other on the phone pretending that Bruce is making a reservation at La Gondola when they are simply catching up and checking each other out. Bruce adores the notion that Annika, a nice lady by nature, occasionally engages in mischievous behavior that makes her appear to be adorable. Bruce regularly surprises Annika at La Gondola by strolling in without warning for lunch or supper, despite the fact that they don't get out much. They never engage in lengthy or in-depth conversations, but every time they meet one another, it's as if they are missing one another. Annika finally said farewell to her final customer at La Gondola. She lingered a little longer at the restaurant to see if Bruce and his staff were still there at the pub. Annika was just standing there, unsure of whether her actions would not harm her friendship with Bruce. Annika made the decision to simply get ready to go home rather than call the bar. She was anxious and perplexed as she made her way to the bus terminal, and she questioned why she was feeling this way. Does it matter that Bruce did not inform her that he would be in the bar? Why did Jessica call her, seeming like she was mocking her in such an unpleasant tone of voice? Her knowing how much Bruce liked her helped her feel less anxious, despite her initial concern that she would be jealous or feel other negative emotions. She has questions for Jessica and Bruce in her head, but she is hesitant to ask them because Jessica is legally one of her superiors and Bruce is the love of her life. She cannot decide whether to confront Bruce or Jessica. She does not, however, intend to stoke any flames with her inquiries. She valued her connection with Bruce greatly, but her friendship with Jessica was more significant. Annika shook her head and reminded herself, "Hey self, remain focused," even though she knew nothing was happening but had a strange feeling about Jessica's motives. She keeps moving forward toward the bus stop while observing every car that passes her. She speculated that Bruce might be driving and that she might unintentionally catch a glimpse of him. Since they haven't seen each other in a while, she also considered the possibility that she misses him. That evening, Annika was so upset that she didn't even want to return home. She even had the intention of stopping by the Irish Pub so that perhaps he might have a drink with Bruce and his crew. However, since Bruce is spending time with his team, it is not appropriate. Annika gathers her thoughts before continuing to make her way to the bus terminal. She was unhappy with how her day had ended. This early evening was ideal, but Jessica's brief call has caused her sentiments to change. She was sitting in the bus and looking out the window at every business establishment they passed, as well as all the gorgeous streetlights. She was just fine, why the sudden change in emotion? Annika decided to phone Bruce tomorrow to ask if he was available to see her. She is confident that he will be overjoyed to hear her voice. He might visit La Gondola to see her, or they might decide to arrange a date for supper or a drink to catch up. She is eager to come home, fall asleep, and wake up the next day so she may carry out her plans. That evening, Annika was incredibly worried about the following day. "See you soon, Bruce," she muttered to herself. "
