What’s a mate?

The next morning Jonathan join them for their morning run. After that, It was defense training, and the last half an hour was combat. Although she still lands on her back sometimes she felt great after their training. She was improving. She missed the training back in Seattle. Now she was forced to use her strength although she was still weaker than Jonathan, and that was okey with her. She has to figure out how she is using this to her advantage. The siblings went inside for breakfast. John was still standing outside.

„you can come out now, Mason“

Mason appeared behind a tree. Now he knows where she got the bruises. It was difficult to see how her brother put his hands on his mate, each time he was ready to shred him to pieces but he controlled himself.

“Don’t you guys go too rough on her she is still a human”

“She is stubborn, but a great fighter. She learns fast. In a month she has to go against an alpha”

Mason avoids John's eyes.

“She may be a human but she has the mind of a wolf. The determination in her eyes makes me proud. You may have some prejudice towards her but she will stand her ground”

“Did she get her wolf?”

“Not yet maybe the next full moon will increase the chance”

Mason nodded and turn to leave.

“Mason don’t underestimate her from my point of view she has great potential to become a top warrior when her wolf's blood kick in”

“We will see” with that he leaves.

John shakes his head. This boy will learn his lesson not to underestimate his opponent.

After a week Maddison was able to land some punches at Jonathan. John was a great Trainer he pointed out their mistakes and correct their weak points.

“You have a good strategy Maddison but the speed of a wolf is still hard to compensate, you may know his next move but are not fast enough to counter them”

“I know” she was lying on the ground catching her breath from Jonathan's last strike.

“I think we should try to wake you wolf”

“That's possible?”

“I don't know, we could try, Our wolf is connected to nature, the moon the lakes you should spend some more time in the wood. Take a walk if you have time try to connect with your surroundings, feel nature”

“Okay I will try, now let's get something to eat I am starving”

Linda opened the door smiling at them. “Breakfast is ready”

“Good timing mom” Jonathan sprinted into the house. John let her a hand and they walked together. She starts to warm up to him and also to Linda. Linda cooks very well she always asked her for her opinion. Maddison knew they tried to include her in every decision. They wanted to create a homely surrounding for her and she was thankful for that.

She also starts to wear the things Sarah recommended. Today she paired a white blouse with a pair of jeans. When Sarah arrived to pick her up, she showed her a thumb up.

“Great combi girl! Wait we have to change one thing” Sarah took down her Hairband now her hair was falling like a curtain into her face.

“Hey that's not practical”

“Shhh shh I don't want to hear a word, you have great hair so long and shining why put it in a ponytail, really Maddison you looked beautiful we are going to turn some heads”

“Hahahaha Please don't “

They drove to the school. They indeed turn some attention to them. Some of the girls asked if she just transfers although she was already attending the school for some weeks. Sarah and Maddison were laughing about some comments when they saw Mason down the hall. A girl with blond hair was clinging to his arm laughing at something he said. Ty was hugging another one only Cole stands beside shaking his head about Mason's comment. Mason caught her sight. Sarah nudge her and said.

“Are you guys really not dating ?”

“What are you talking about?! I bearly know him and I don't like him at all. Your brother is too arrogant” she shrugged off Madison's comment.

Suddenly someone was blocking their way.

“Hi nice to see you again” Alex appears in front of them.

“Hi today I didn't run you over”

“Yes my luck hahaha Maddison right” he takes her hand and gave her a big smile. Seconds later a breathtaking growl appeared. The next second Mason had Alex pined at the wall. One hand around his throat. His eyes were throwing daggers. Cole and Ty were on his side holding him back.

“Mason let him go”

“Yes Mason he is the Beta of Richmond you are going to create a war”

“I warned him, I could snap his thirty neck right now” Sarah also caught Mason's arm.

“Mason let him go he didn't do anything”

Mason was still fuming. His eyes stuck on Alex. Maddison touches his arm which instantly starts to tingle.

“Mason put him down we could talk”

His hand starts to loosen. He shifts his view to her. She looked into his eyes calming his fire. He dropped him and caught her hand. Pulling her away from the scene. Cole, Ty, and Sarah were confused by Mason's behavior. Alex stood up still catching his breath.

“What's wrong with him,” Ty asked Cole and Sarah.

“Seems like your alpha is jealous” Alex nodded

“Why should he be jealous?”

“Right! He acts different when Maddy is around”

“Could Maddison be his mate? I have never seen him act as that” Cole said thoughtfully.

“No that can be if they were mates they wouldn't leave their rooms for weeks if you know what I mean,” Ty said grinding.

“They had an episode at the mall which I didn't tell you,” Sarah said to the boys. Both stared at her. Sarah told them what she saw and the boys were thunder stricken. Other she-wolves were listing to them. Most of them are jealous of this half-human which can caught the attention of the Alpha of Packwood.

Mason got into a classroom slams the door and caged Maddison against it.

“What are you trying to do?”

“I should ask you this question. Why did you attack Alex?”

“Oh seems like you two are quite close”

“No, but it would be great to make some friends”

“You are not allowed to befriend him or any other male!!”

“Why? You are not my dad”

“No, but I am your mate!!”

“What?! What are you talking about? When did we have this mate thing”

“You are mine and only mine!!” He roared

“Don’t rise your voice at me!! Stop talking nonsense and leave me alone”

She tried to push him away, but Mason wasn't moving an inch.

“Why do you don't feel the bound?”

“Hey you may be quite attractive but that doesn't make you irresistible”

“Your stupid human blood is covering your natural instinct”

She was going to hit him for this comment, but he caught her hand. The tingling increase as long as he holds her hand. With one swift he got Maddison in his arms and crushed his lips on her. Something exploded in her head. His scent embraces her. At first, his lips were forceful but slowly got gentle. He tried to slow down and give her some time. He put his arm around her waist pulling her closer. Her hands start to wander up his arms slowly getting into his hair and pulling him down to her. He images to kiss her but it was better than expected. Her lips tasted like cherries small round sweet and soft. Her legs gave in, Mason caught her by her butt and lift her. She puts her leg around him to get more hold. The temperature in the room rises. Her pantie got wet she could feel his bulge against her core. Mason starts to rub against her. A small moan escapes her lips. Things become hot between them. They didn't know how long they make out but they were interrupted by some student opening the door. She got so starlet that she push Mason he didn't expect her push and dropped her. The students enter the room but stopped when they saw Mason. He roared fiercely everyone left the room running. He was angry that they got interrupted. Mason turns to Maddison wanting to help her up. She hold up her palm and stopped him.

„Stop don’t come near me!“

„Are you sure? 10 seconds before you weren’t aversive by me.“

„Don’t talk to me, this here didn’t happen!“

She was rushing out the door like the devil was after her. Outside a bunch of students were standing there. The girls were throwing hateful looks at her. She passed them and run to her next class. Mason exits and looked after her. The people start to gossip that Mason hooks up with half-humans. The news spreads like fire. Mason didn’t care, better for him so any other male will keep his distance.

Maddison had a bad day. Since the third lesson at school, the girls were throwing her dead looks. The rumor about her and Mason caught up pretty quickly. Sarah was waiting in her car when Maddison got there.

“Please don’t start! I had a really tiring day”

“But !”

“No Sarah I have a headache please let's talk another time”

She shuts her mouth. During the whole way home, Sarah was staring at her not even paying attention to the street. Maddison was fearing for her life.

“Please look at the street! Okey stop the car! If you continue like that we will die!”

“Are you telling me what happen after you guys left?”

Maddison sighed and gave up.

“Mason kissed me”

“Ahhhh ughh okey, relax girl huuuu”

She jumped with excitement.

“Are you his mate?”

“I don't know. He mentions something like that. What does this even mean mate?”

“You don't feel the mate bond?”

“What's a mate bond”

“It's like soulmates but stronger, the moon goddess blesses us wolves with a mate. You fell deeply for this person as soon as you lay your eyes on them. A wolf has one partner for life and normally that's his mate. Mates make each other stronger and faster and the most important aspect is you can't get enough of each other” she grins at her.

“Some of the wolves didn't leave the house in the first month after they found their mate”

“Okey then I am not his mate, I just find him attractive but that's all nothing special”

“I think that's because you haven't turned yet, now you human side still has the upper hand also when you get your wolf she will feel the mate bond, even stronger than you”

Maddison massages her forehead.

“Oh I am so happy you will be my sister in law”

“Sarah please keep this for yourself we didn't know if this is an error. You can tell them after I turn then we could be sure”

“Okey I will keep it for myself for now but I tell you the moon goddess doesn't make mistakes”

She started the car with a smile and they continue their way home.
