Chapter 1:THE ALPHA

1087 Words
THE ALPHA The Blackwood Pack was not built on kindness. It was built on strength. Deep within the forests of South Atlanta, hidden away from the eyes of humans, stood a territory that had belonged to the Blackwood bloodline for generations. Towering trees surrounded the land like ancient guardians, their branches stretching toward the sky as if protecting the secrets buried beneath them. At the heart of the territory stood the Blackwood Pack House. It was not merely a home. It was a symbol. A reminder that for decades, the Blackwood name had carried power, respect, and fear throughout the werewolf world. Every wolf who stepped onto their land knew exactly where they stood. The Blackwood Pack was not one of the strongest packs. It was the strongest. And at the top of that pack stood one man. Marcus Blackwood. The Alpha. The Beast Alpha. The training grounds were already alive before sunrise. The sound of warriors sparring filled the morning air as Deltas trained with wooden blades and practiced hand-to-hand combat. The younger wolves moved under the watchful eyes of their instructors, desperate to prove themselves worthy of serving their pack. Near the edge of the field, a group of Betas discussed patrol routes while Gammas reviewed reports from different territories. Everything moved with perfect order. Because the Blackwood Pack demanded nothing less. A sudden silence fell over the training grounds. One by one, wolves stopped what they were doing. Heads lowered. Not because they were forced to. Because they respected the person approaching. “Alpha Marcus.” The greeting passed from one wolf to another. Marcus Blackwood walked through the training grounds with the confidence of someone who knew exactly who he was. At twenty-eight years old, he was the youngest Alpha to ever lead the Blackwood Pack, but no one questioned his position. No one dared. He was tall, standing well over six feet, with a body shaped by years of battle and training. His tanned skin carried the evidence of long days under the sun, while his dark hair fell slightly over his forehead, giving him a dangerous yet effortless appearance. His face was sharp and striking. A strong jaw. High cheekbones. A gaze that could make even experienced warriors feel like they were being judged by the Moon Goddess herself. His eyes were naturally a deep brown, but every wolf knew the truth. When his wolf surfaced... Those eyes turned gold. And when they did, it meant the Beast had awakened. Marcus wore a simple black shirt and dark trousers, but somehow he looked more like a king preparing for war than a man walking through his own territory. Many admired him. Many feared him. And many avoided him. Because behind the handsome face and powerful Alpha aura was a reputation that followed him everywhere. Ruthless. Cold. Dangerous. Some said Marcus Blackwood had no heart. Others said he was the kind of Alpha who would burn the world down to protect his own. The truth was something only a few people knew. Marcus was tired. “Alpha.” A calm voice pulled Marcus from his thoughts. Kelvin, the Beta of the Blackwood Pack, approached with several reports in his hand. Unlike most wolves who became nervous around Marcus, Kelvin never did. Maybe because he had known Marcus since they were children. Maybe because he was one of the few people who remembered the boy Marcus had been before the crown of Alpha changed him. “Good morning,” Kelvin said. Marcus gave a slight nod. “Report.” Kelvin sighed. “Good morning to you too.” Marcus raised an eyebrow. Kelvin smiled slightly. “Still as friendly as ever.” “Report, Kelvin.” The Beta shook his head but opened the papers. “The eastern border is secure. No suspicious movement. Andrew's team found nothing unusual during their investigation.” Marcus listened carefully. Kelvin continued. “The southern patrol returned without issues. Theo is currently training the Delta warriors.” Marcus nodded. “Good.” Kelvin watched him. Too closely. Marcus noticed. “What?” “You didn't sleep.” A pause. “I'm fine.” Kelvin gave him a look. Marcus hated that look. The one that said Kelvin knew him too well. “You're the worst liar I've ever met,” Kelvin said. “I am the Alpha.” “And I'm your Beta. Which means I'm allowed to tell you when you're acting like an idiot.” For a brief second, something almost like amusement appeared on Marcus's face. Almost. Then it disappeared. On the other side of the training grounds, a loud voice echoed. “If you drop your weapon one more time, you can spend the next month cleaning the warriors' hall!” The warriors immediately stood straighter. Theo Carter, the Blackwood Pack's Delta and captain of the warriors, stood in the center of the field. He was one of the strongest fighters in the pack. Broad shoulders. A powerful build. A confident smile that made it difficult to tell whether he was joking or preparing for a fight. Usually, it was both. “Delta Theo,” one young warrior greeted nervously. Theo crossed his arms. “You want to become a warrior?” “Yes, Delta.” “Then stop fighting like you want to lose.” Despite his harsh words, everyone knew Theo cared deeply about the warriors under his command. That was why Marcus trusted him. Near the main building, another figure watched the training grounds quietly. Andrew Brooks. The Gamma of the Blackwood Pack. Unlike Theo, Andrew didn't rely on physical strength. His greatest weapon was his mind. He was responsible for intelligence, investigations, and gathering information from other packs. Where Theo fought battles... Andrew prevented them. He approached Marcus and Kelvin with a folder. “Alpha.” Marcus looked at him. “Andrew.” “The reports you requested.” Marcus accepted the folder. “Anything important?” Andrew's expression became serious. “Not yet. But something feels wrong.” Kelvin frowned. “Explain.” Andrew looked toward the forest. “Too quiet.” Marcus's eyes narrowed. For a moment, the three men stood silently. Because they all knew one thing. A quiet forest was sometimes more dangerous than a loud one. --- Thank you so much for reading this chapter 🖤🐺 If you enjoyed this chapter, don't forget to vote and leave a comment!
