MYSTERY
Nigel lifted a chair towards them and sat close to Gabriella. A little too close. Jesse’s stomach churned at the way Erica’s brother was staring at Gabriella. It wasn’t like he had any claim to her, so she could like anyone she wanted to like, but the idea of Nigel and Gabriella made him sick. “So why are you here, Gabriella? What’s going on?”
“We wanted to talk about Erica.” She faced Jesse briefly. “I know she promoted this winery for her work and wrote an article. You must be proud of that.”
He shifted in his seat. “Whatever. It was part of her job. So what’s with the visit?”
Gabriella squeezed her hands tight, watching Jesse whose glare was obvious. “We had some questions about Erica. The police would’ve questioned you about her, didn’t they?”
