CHAPTER 10
Lady Duxelle watched as King Carrodias held the Cube in his hand and channeled its energy. A sphere of purple light revolved around him, and his eyes were a matching purple. The same light swirled around the grotto, making the water look like a cosmic microcosm.
He must be controlling the light that was flowing through the kingdom and expelling the Gourmans, Lady Duxelle thought, shifting between the two soldiers who held her up.
The king sensed her presence, and the light stopped. He stumbled back, dropped the Cube back onto the pedestal and sighed.
His back still to her, he said, “One touch, and I knew everything that was happening in the kingdom. All at once, I directed every single strand of light. God-like power, Lady Duxelle. Power that must not be abused …”
