CHAPTER 20 Brocc, Lara Stella, and Rudy crouched on a roof overlooking the ray terminal, a brown to-go box surrounded by barbed wire fences. A black pillar rose from the center of the box and connected it to the metal plate in the sky. An elevator shaft was carved into the side of the pillar. At the top, the shaft branched off into a maze of glass paths that spanned the length of the plate. At the junction where the pillar met the plate was another to-go box that hung like saggy skin. It looked like a command center, its yellow windows glowing from the light of the machines inside.
